My reading of Hawkin’s comments are that the Witches proposed to apply the same approach to the RS position that the Stars have been/are being allowed to use and that this request was refused. If that is correct, then that is a terrible state of affairs. A regulation either applies to none or all. If the Stars have been granted an exception to the regulation then great, but again that exception has to be applied to all.9 points

Coming from a production background, I feel I have to say one thing. While Tatum's mistake was poor, I can't tell you how often this sort of error happens with commentators. The fact he then went on to say it multiples times suggests he was a bit confused about the situation, he obviously knows 45 points is not enough for to win the meeting. The real alarming thing here is that not one member of the TNT production team told him of the error - which suggests they either are incredibly bad at their job, or simply don't know anything about speedway. Criticise Tatum all you want, but the TNT team should be taking far more heat. They are there to stop things like this happening and they didn't. Absolutely shocking.6 points

I have friends who are Berwick fans that live in Newcastle, this bit is not relevant to anything really but imo Berwick is the best club in British speedway, there is something about the place which is a real club/team/town place, maybe because it’s a small town but places like bedrocks, black and gold and formally the grove and the small beach and shielfield are all part of the spirit of the town, I had a couple of happy years there where I was made to feel like I was one of them, I still make sure I visit at least once a season despite living 250miles away, anyway enough of me reminiscing, come on Workington, speedway needs you5 points

It’s great to read that Danyon Hume’s surgery yesterday has been classed as successful. Here’s hoping for a full and speedy recovery for someone who always gives their all irrespective.5 points

Its a miracle and went something like this. As Jesus came down the mountain, he was followed by large crowds. 2 Suddenly a man named Craig with Covid[a] came and knelt in front of Jesus. He said, “Lord, you have the power to make me well, if only you wanted to.” 3 Jesus put his hand on the man and said, “I want to! Now you are well.” At once the man's Covid disappeared and the van was loaded and begat his journey to Oxford. 4 Jesus told him, “Don't tell anyone about this, especially the BSPL but go and show the priest that you are well. Then take a gift to the temple just as Moses commanded, and everyone will know that you have been healed.”[b]4 points

Richie Hawkins on Vinnie Foord... I know a lot of you will have seen we wanted to use him on Monday at Oxford and what a massive drama that was. Unfortunately, the SCB said he wasn’t going to be allowed to guest so we wanted to put him in the team and then take him out in the same way King’s Lynn have been doing with their Rising Stars. Then we were told Monday morning that we weren’t allowed to do that, but King’s Lynn still would be which to me is completely wrong and I know Chris feels the same way. This is what we work with, and we will do our very best and I’m sure we will all give him a great welcome on Thursday.4 points

It beggars belief that some in here are trying to make excuses for his embarrassing commentary for nearly ALL of last nights meeting. IF he had been someone plucked from the crowd to do the job as a one off because the normal commentator was sick or didn't turn up then it would be excusable BUT he's supposed to be professional commentator, who gets paid a good salary, travels the world etc. It's simply not good enough to make continued BEYOND basic mistakes like he does. Bring in Rowe or Goddard.4 points

Jenkins didn't opt out of the scheme, he "graduated" because his average went above 4.00. Once it dropped down, he was eligible to be a RS again, that's always been in the rules.3 points

If it was another team getting special treatment to manipulate the regulations then he would be talking about that team It's not his fault that it so often seems to be the Stars cheating/manipulating/lying* *delete as applicable3 points

really enjoy the Tatum and Nicholls combination, both have personalities and their own traits....would rather listen to ex riders who have some idea what they are talking about.....nobody has that close contact and "in" with the riders like Nicholls has. For those moaning about Tatums gaff about only needing one point to win, if you knew at the time it was wrong what real difference did it make, did it spoil your viewing of heat 15?. Some people on here would moan if you gave them a gold bar, moaning it was too heavy!3 points

Dave Rowe far better commentator then Tatum could ever be IMO3 points

I'm genuinely sorry to say this, but Tatum has been an absolute embarrassment this evening. Anyone can make an error, but for someone with his experience in the sport to announce repeatedly that 45 points wins the meeting is, frankly, bordering on the unprofessional.3 points

Even in this keyboard warrior social media semi delinquent age, I cannot seriously believe what I am reading here. Top Class Rider Top Class bloke Credit to the Sport and very Club he has ridden for. Clearly has a serious neurological issue that affects his eyesight. Just dwell on that for a minute! Clearly has a serious neurological issue that affects his eyesight. Yet we have people with no compassion no care and probably no understanding of the seriousness of the situation arguing about whether he sould get a 7-28 day exemption, is witholding his services and other clap trap. The guy is in a potentially life changing situation for christs sake. Think of him, his family, his friends and Redcar Speedway. Give your heads a wobble and lets all support Erik and hopefully see him back once he is fully recovered.3 points

Not sure exactly who you mean by "Coventry", but as someone who has spent their whole life around stock car racing, and therefore knowing many people involved at all levels of the sport, I can assure you that those involved in the consortium have more than enough money to bring the stadium back to a decent standard to reopen. It may not have the facilities initially that it had previously, but the backgrounds and businesses of some of them will also assist in the process, with one of them having recently been involved in major construction projects at 2 other oval venues.2 points

Chris Louis does actually correct Tatum sometimes so he does help the situation, I think he sometimes feels embarrassed for Tatum and doesn’t want to constantly correct him.2 points

Imagine if it was the other way round and kings Lynn weren’t allowed to use riders in the same way as Ipswich your lot would be in uproar! 🙄🤣2 points

We certainly have but surviving being homeless and bouncing back, showed how important it meant to have speedway in Berwick.2 points

Yes I think the scoreline often is as important as the actual racing as it keeps the meeting interesting. When we lose at home it seems far more interesting for the average viewer on tv.2 points

Still didn't think there was anymore overtaking than what we had at Poole last Wednesday, in fact probably less , the score line kept it interesting though2 points

No one knows the circumstances behind this tho. Maybe Birmingham are happy with Hagon and will cost them less money paying out for less points? Maybe Edwards already told Birmingham he didn’t want to come back? One thing that is usual tho is nothing remotely factual will be released to the public which is why it’s mockery. To be honest some whingers were calling for Pearson to be sacked for years. Nigel was a proper speedway person through and through. Be careful what you wish for….. it could be worse you could have someone who has no idea about the sport like people like Abi who just paraphrases everything that the experts say in every interview. Even Tony Millard who made so many mistakes it was off putting. Yet again another none real speedway person. Kelvin and Chris do a good job along with Scott. Kelvin is not a journalist like Nigel was but he is the best we have so far. Dave Goddard and Dave Rowe do a decent job at what they do also btw.2 points

I do feel comments like this are daft, no matter how bad a Prem team is, they're still stronger than the best Champ team. This Birmingham team still has a chance to avoid the Wooden Spoon (as Oxford keep losing too). But out of interest I looked at the stats. Birmingham in the Champ would be 51.37. Highest Champ team is currently Scunthorpe on 42.54. Of course that using a lot of assessed averages, looking at Poole's Prem averages that would come to 29.56, below Birmingham's 31.90. The top Champ side against the bottom Prem side would probably be a lot closer this year, but still a win for the Prem team.2 points

If he does invest and bring another of the set up with him they'd be driving folk away from attending speedway permanently no matter how long you'd been watching it.Completely clueless!!2 points

There’s quite a lot of other sport in easy reach of Berwick. Especially if you like bike racing. Lots of rugby clubs about, there’s also that big green thing in the middle of the speedway track.2 points

Well, contrary to all the constant moaners, I like Kelvin's commentary. He's enjoyable to listen to and him and Chris Louis do a good job. I don't t want to listen to some dull statto type.2 points

I can't believe Allen - who comes across as a pretty intelligent, clued-up guy, didn't put Tatum right. He didn't have to do it on air ... he could have passed him a note. As for Abi constantly laughing about the hash tag - it's not the slightest bit funny. Nor professional.2 points

I think that is it, we all give up! Speedway has had its head in the sand for many years. I love (or loved speedway), but I do feel the game is up, in its current guise, here in the UK.2 points

Well surely you’d be doing the opposite as it’s the best chance of a win? Not like Buster to be be doing things in the best interest of the sport.2 points

It was an awful crash. All four riders were still pretty bunched coming out the last bend, and when Jonatan Grahn whacked the fence on the home straight his bike careered straight into Danyon's path. He somersaulted right over it, coming down on his head or neck, with his bike (which may have caused the real damage) landing right on top of him from a height. While seriously hurt, the news that he is awake, and has full movement is a great relief. To the person, the idiot, who complained about the meeting not concluding, I can only say that while the club operates dual medical cover, the severity of Danyon's injuries meant that both paramedics and their staff were quite rightly fully engaged in working with him, right there on the track. Some things in speedway are more important than getting the next race on. Get well, Danyon. You are one of the happiest, friendliest chaps I've ever met. Why do bad things happen to good people?2 points
