  1. Will the new Whizz kid signing give Sheffield a Sniff at the league title? Sheffield couldn't let the season go to Pot, and needed to Weed out the underperformers. Expect them to Shoot Up the table now. He'll certainly bring some Speed to the team, and offer the Tiggers a bit of Meow-Meow. However, it'll be some Blow for Kerr and Sedgmen. With little passing at Sheffield it'll help to have someone who is good on the White Line. Just hope he's still got the bottle. They don't like it up 'em.

  2. Visited Plymouth for the first time this season on Saturday. Very interesting to see what they have created and to chat to a few local fans. They have created "an EVENT" and brought in, I was told, some University kids to do social media on the Event Day and have turned it in to a Saturday Night out. They have developed it strikes me a combination of a bit of a Millwall " no one loves us we don't care" mentality amongst the usual Speedway Supporter base and a "this is great fun and we can interact and participate" type vibe for the many who seemed to be both newcomers to Speedway and far less interested in the result than in the excitement. You'd never have figured they were bottom of the League with their top Rider missing, it didn't matter. It was buzzy vibrant and exciting. The Racing wasn't great to a Speedway fan, but to the majority, the noise, the smell, the atmosphere and the interactions with riders was what sold the event and it seems Crowds are UP down there! Well done to all concerned.

  5. It's another sign of the state the sport is in when someone can just go straight back into both leagues immediately after their 2-year ban is up. I don't have a problem with giving someone a second chance but they should have to earn it. I can't recall any comment from Morris such as an apology to his teams and sponsors for letting them down. We never even had official confirmation of what exactly he was banned for seeing as he took the cowardly route of refusing a test rather than admit to his mistake.

  6. Agree that the program was a disappointment. Surely a cup final deserved a souvenir program. could have used an insert in next week's if it had to be used. always been a bugbear of mind anyway ..... But a cup final , come on!!!

  7. Total disgrace! Was it obvious and transparent that it was the case before purchasing?

  8. My thoughts on last night. Nic,Richard and Jan have kept the fixture alive basically. Luke did well in heat 2,but Puk, Bomber and lewi were very disappointing. On a more trivial note, I find inserts in a full priced program really annoying at the best of times but come on this is a knockout cup final, potentially a keepsake program so using one from a rained off belle vue meeting just sucks. Surely that could have been kept for the rescheduled day and given the fans a bit of a souvenir? Moan over. Good luck on Thursday lads

  9. It may have slipped your mind, but just in case it passed you by, a quick reminder that one of our contracted heat leaders nearly died a few days before our first match of the season, forcing us into some quick team changes. These haven't worked out and it is fairly obvious that our existing 1-7 were not likely to beat any of the other playoff teams over 2 legs. Therefore, as per the regulations, a couple of changes have been made to strengthen the side.

  10. I'd rather my team lose than sign Nick Morris.......

  11. Some interesting 'whatever/maybes' in this discussion.......... What I'd chip in is, contrary to world opinion, Cami Brown proved a good manager on Saturday and deployed his limited resources very well. He had two heat-leaders, two young reserves and two woefully ineffective guests, but juggled them well.

  12. I'm sure if he saw someone discussing his height, he would be absolutely fine with it. Nobody spoke in a derogatory manner about 'body image'. Don't go looking for trouble when there isn't any...

  13. He must have the most retirements of any rider in the premiership and championship. My pet hate to see riders give up while last.

  16. We should count ourselves lucky that King's Lynn have actually got a clock... it's taken them a couple of years to get one on the centre, all they've got to do now is learn how to use the thing, I know time runs differently in Norfolk 😁😜

  17. It won't happen. If the biggest bike racing series in the world gets zero coverage, then how can you expect speedway to get any? Even the TT usually only appears in the press when a rider dies. It's been the same for as long as I can remember, it will never change.

  19. I much prefer those "technical" tracks where riders can ride sideways into the bends, blocking the track almost completely, meaning the rider behind has to follow exactly the same line... With him then hoping the rider in front gets some extra grip and gets fired "right" towards the fence, meaning a pass may then take place... The anticipation of waiting for some passing after bend two, lap one, for sometimes 15 heats in a row is simply breathtaking... To be honest, I am not sure the promoters of Redcar, Worky, Glasgow, Scunthorpe and the NSS know how boring all the passing that takes place there can be.... Edit. Forgot to mention the blue groove that can also appear on the "technical" tracks. For me, that "Azure Blue" hue adds colour and excitement to the event given all the riders use their throttle skills to constantly ride over it, never moving off it, and all skillfully keeping the same distance apart from each other for the entire race.....

  20. If every track was like Perry Barr, Speedway would have been finished in the UK years ago, you can sign almost any rider you care to mention if they can't race then what's the point ? the track has been a constant issue for years.

  21. Oxford are an utter joke this year with Gusts and Knudsen. Ripping their own and others fans off all year with their select sides.

  22. He’ll still get seven rides: - 1 as reserve switch for Harrison - 1 as reserve switch for whichever of the top 5 is struggling (Niels probably) - 1 as a nomination for heat 15 (if it makes it that far)

  23. I can say that I know of one ex Sheffield rider who is happy not to be there …said the riders don’t offer each other support and it’s the strangest pits and team environment he has ever seen in his career Nothing wrong with Sheffield making signings it’s allowed I just don’t think they are good ones particularly

  24. Personally think this is two good changes and were needed. Sedgmen has struggled all season at home his last two performances there were shocking. As for Kerr we’ve seen again that when not at the number 6 reserve more times than not he doesn’t score his average (that 16 at King’s Lynn has given him a bit of an artificially high average). For the two new signings Etheridge was on the Sheffield radar for a 2024 team spot following his Play Off final performance at Owlerton but points wouldn’t fit him in, he’ll definitely score more than Sedgmen at home, away just depends what tracks Sheffield have left to visit. Morris has to be race rusty, hopefully he’s managed to get some new kit under him, if he can pick up 6-8 points from 4 rides home and away don’t think much more can be asked for

  26. Kirky Lane delivered some very good racing until Air Fences came in and took away the wider outside run that the likes of Screen, Ott, Ermolenko, Adams, Hamill, Crump, Nielsen, Trick etc etc all used to great effect... It was designed as a "small track that rode like a big one", with very wide bends for its overall size.. When the Air Fences came in, it then became very much "standard UK fayre", of fill your programme in after bend three, lap one... Monmore went a similar way after they reconfigured the bend two fence to make the entry on to the track.. , As the equipment changed, these tracks of those shapes sadly didn't deliver the same level of entertainment that they once did... Anyone watching on TV would keep far more interested I would think if the racing had plenty of passing, rather than reinforcing the view that so many hold of whoever gets out of the start first always wins, no matter how close the rider is behind for four laps.. The devoted fans may love watching tight technical battles but the vast majority of any Motorsport followers, (and commentators), are very much in it for the passing that takes place, and the excitement it generates... Hence sporting bodies like F1 (a sport whose reputation was 100% "follow the leader"), keep making restrictions and changes to car specs to try and keep racing closer and more competitive, and use "gadgets" like DRS used to increase passing opportunities... Watching Kurtz, Lambert, BZ, Bewley, Doyle, and Emil in particular, all fly around the NSS, passing rivals just inches from the fence at high speed, is surely the ultimate in bravery and skill on a Speedway bike, and why people go to watch the sport?

  33. We've had this with Bomber occasionally this year, he's generally been excellent but once or twice he's had no speed and been way off it. His bike set ups are obviously quite specific and if its not quite right he goes from hare to tortoise.

  34. Brilliant days I had stopped going before Ott joined but remember Loram , Henka and Dennis Lofquist at reserve, I would have been late teens then, stood on the second bend with one of my oldest friends and his dad who drove us to meetings all over the UK. A great character we christened Nutter would spend 99% of his time in the bar and pop out for ten seconds whenever Richard Knight came round and would bellow Richard's name like a man possessed for 10-15 seconds then straight back to the bar without watching the actual race. Wild Wayne leading the war cry's, Bill Barker who should have been on the stage doing comedy wandering round selling raffle tickets, whilst asking if anyone had seen Malcolm Simmonds, Bills winter talk in's were comedy gold. The racing when Loram and Henka were involved was out of this world in those days, Henka in my opinion was a more naturally talented/better rider than T Rick when they both first came over but I guess Tony had that extra 5% of grit/determination that led to six world titles, but I've always thought for natural talent Henka and Ward are the best two riders I have ever seen on a bike. Fantastic times I would be back there again in a heartbeat.

  37. So Sheffield have sniffed out a change with Nick Morris in the hope that they go marching (powder) on for the rest of the season. Or at least until someone asks him to wee into a bottle anyway.

  38. I've said it before, you can't fail to be impressed/excited when a newbie at Speedway, the sheer spectacle of it all live is brilliant... it's when these noobs start to become more regular and question why their top rider was missing the meeting to not ride elsewhere that the problems start. Well done to the Glads for showing some initiative though 👏

  40. Yeah, I am sure about my facts. I even said one very important fact in my previous post that you seem to have ignored. There's also Google, try using that, you might find articles such as the following.... https://www.airlineratings.com/articles/wizz-air-ranked-in-the-top-five-safest-low-cost-airlines https://www.euronews.com/travel/2025/01/18/worried-about-flying-these-airlines-have-been-ranked-the-safest-in-europe-for-2025 The hilarious thing about your posts is that you're calling Wizz Air an unsafe airline, when it is actually the complete opposite. Do you want to take a guess at how many people have died flying with Wizz Air? Go on... try and answer the question instead of ignoring it? The only scary thing is people like you posting complete fake news. Hence why I called you a clown, which is more than justified.

  42. With hardly any characters in ANY SPORT these days Speedway needs to go back to basics and NOT FINE anyone who even thinks about causing a problem or raising his voice in an argument.Ian thomas bless him was not everyones cup of tea but did he get people talking about things in an meeting when the racing was boring he got people talking and WE NEED PEOPLE like him to bring an element of friction in a meeting. In the UK these days the riders just swan in and out of the country ,with no element of doing anything other to score whats good for them and get out again and onto the next meeting.WITH FINES making people scared to breath speedway has gone stale, bring back the telephone and make it bigger and better for the riders to talk to the ref WITHOUT the risk of being fined,we know he/she wont change their mind but it was all part of the banter at one time when the racing was rubbish at least you had that element of banter that kept everyone talking.why cant we just get back to the natural reaction of riders without the risk of being fined?

  43. Bit of a bore! Superior riders going backwards when chasing dirt on the outside. I remember when PB opened initially there was some great racing weekly. I struggle to fathom how anyone can charge £24/25 for that non product. Feel for Birmingham fans they deserve better.
