No, it is definitely not a joke. As I posted earlier, I lost my Track in 1964 and 1974. I am still very bitter about the way it happened, both in 1964 and 1974. You get to love a Sport and it is taken from you - it is no joke and certainly not funny. I sympathise with the Supporters with every Club that has gone, or will go to the wall. Even if Sunderland returned net Season, it is too late for me, I could not attend. It upsets me very much the way Speedway, our Sport, is shrinking. When one can see what has happened at Cradley Heath, Coventry, Peterborough, Wolverhampton, Wimbledon, Hull, Newcastle, Swindon et al - to me it is tragic. These were all great Teams years ago. I know I am getting on in years and some will say (not all I hope) that I am a silly old duffer living in the past. There is an old saying: "The past is another Country; they do thing differently there". Quote attributed to L. P. Hartley.7 points

Well done to Sheffield for topping the table. Best team in the league over the season and even more remarkable given the injury to Tai at the start of the season. You need commending for how you got on with the task of finishing top following that set back. No continued bleating about your misfortune or spouting what you would have won like some teams from down south where we’ve had to endure the same all this season as well being told they will take all before them. True class Sheffield and a lesson to those that are lacking in that department. Fingers crossed to more war of the roses encounters and seeing the bend two barmy army at the NSS again.6 points

Sheffield's defeat of Ipswich on Thursday wasn't just a victory, it was a complete drubbing. This Ipswich side weren't just "playing it safe," they've lost their bottle. Leicester will make mincemeat of this shower in the finals (and rightly so!) For finishing top of the table, contrary to popular belief, you DO win something: you win the honour and respect of everyone in the sport and a sense of pride in a job well done. For that, the riders, staff and fans of Sheffield Speedway can rightfully feel joy and satisfaction in their 2025 exertions. The annals of history will forever show that Sheffield were top of the heap in 2025, despite the crooked blunt-force play-off system that clearly fails to reflect the year-long performance and achievement. So who knows, given the present circumstances, 2025 may turn out to be Sheffield's swan-song. But if we don't come to the tapes in 2026 we'll at least be assured that we went out on top.4 points

Bowes expected his bikes to be at Poole as they are stored at Workington. He got told this was not possible and threw his toys and confirmed his season is over. For me I want riders who want to ride for Workington regardless. Nobody is bigger than the club. He has been missing more than present this season. Go and chase your dream in Poland and Sweden son. Bye for now3 points

Fantastic speedway, well done Glasgow3 points

A lot is speedways main problems today have been self inflicted. ( not withstanding track closures)Self interest and fans with money trying their hand at Promoting and be taken for a ride in a lot of cases.Riders dictating when and where they want to ride are just a few of the problems.3 points

Just to echo what a few others have said, no one wants any track to close even if that track was seen as a rival, the sport is only as strong as the clubs in it, the more that go, the more chance your own club could fall. I have seen three clubs that I used to attend on a regular or semi regular basis go, Arena Essex, Rye House and Hackney, not been to a meeting since 2018 when Arena went but still get the star every week and watch the odd match on you tube or the highlights posted on social media, because having followed it from 1988 to 2018, it’s in my blood now, for me personally at its core, four riders sliding around an oval track is classic.3 points

Congratulations to the Leicester Lions . Winners of the Premier League 2025. They've won more meetings than any other team and lost less meetings than any other team. But this is British speedway at its finest and apparently that counts for nothing. Lets concoct a weird scoring system that seems them finish 3rd , even though the 2 teams above them have an inferior record!! 🤔3 points

In my opinion which ever team finishes top of the league should be league champions. They ve proved to be the best over the season.3 points

Well done Max saved us tonight after Villads' mare, massive improvement from the last few meetings and looked more like he was before his crashes. Hope Villads can get some more of that intensive physiotherapy, didn't look particularly comfortable before the meeting and that crash definitely didn't help, credit to him though for limping round for the Ben fund collection, some fit riders skip out on it so doing it while he was obviously in pain was nice to see. Dan and Leon have come alive these last few meetings and Bomber and Kyle looking rapid. Happy the referee's blunder didn't end up mattering as that would have been a horrible way to lose for either side.2 points

I don't think I've ever seen a ref "accidentally" press the red button. Thankfully, Edinburgh didn't come out of it any worse off, but that's a very serious mistake...2 points

Yes! PRL, which is in the main square, shows speedway all the time. The manager is a huge Bydgoszcz fan and a season ticket holder. He and his bar are our go-to place whenever we are in Bydgoszcz. If by any chance it's not already on, just ask at the bar and they'll always put it on for you. Nice food too as a bonus. https://prlrocks.pl/?lang=en2 points

You might say the opposite. I read your definition of integrity with interest. Honest and strong moral principles. Those seven Clubs signed up because they had no choice, where is the morality in that? I'm afraid you do not convince me, Sheffield are the Champions of the League - one of the the other four finalists is the 'Play Off' Champions. I don't see the Premier League in Football having 'Play Offs' for the Championship. The other Leagues yes. My Team, Sunderland, just got promoted through the 'Play Off's' but 'Play Offs', in my opinion are basically wrong. You work very hard all Season you win the League. Oh dear, now we have to win it again. What a travesty.2 points

I had a big crash there in 1996 riding for long Eaton clipping James birkenshaw’s back wheel entering the 3rd turn and smashing into the mesh fence before air fences and ending up in Sheffield hospital,,I still have the race jacket which I ripped open on my handlebar clamps, but I still didn’t mind riding there for 15 or more years as an away rider even though I was usually crap there 😂 but it was an easy place to ride and never considered it dangerous2 points

Nobody is going to suggest that. The cut off was stated, the matches weren't completed in time, and we have to accept that. But let's not pretend that we only finished top because your riders weren't trying tonight. We finished top because of the result at your place at the start of the month. We were unfortunate that the way the playoffs fell pitted us against the only team to beat us over 30 heats this season (super heats not included). Had the playoffs fallen any other way we would probably have made the final, but to win them you have to beat everybody and we didn't do that. Hopefully the final will be as exciting and close as our semi final was - you seem to be quite evenly matched so it should be a good spectacle for TV and whoever takes the trophy will be worthy winners.2 points

No, it’s well prepared and on the whole smooth and except for hitting the dirt line is not hard to ride, it’s not technical and doesn’t really have straights and although it’s fast it’s not really difficult to ride at speed but it takes balls to hit the dirt line so close to the fence but as I said they could take away that dirt line but the riders want it2 points

What a meeting. What a night. I’ve just watched the meeting back on BSN and it doesn’t even come close to being there. If Ashfield had a roof, it would have come off after each of the last three heats. What a track. Inside, outside, first lap, last lap. Pure entertainment. Harris on Sedgmen, Harris on Palovaara, Howarth on Sedgmen, Howarth on Palovaara, Flint on Palm Toft, I could go on and on, but the value for money is remarkable.1 point

He’s basically been missing Comets meetings at weekends to ride in Poland, and hasn’t been paid by Tarnow. Probably stressed out by it all hence the social media post he made. And then had a lift to Poole organised by Workington for the Riband meeting, which fell through so Andrew organised another for him, and in turn Fraser rang to say stuff the lift, the presentation night and Saturdays meeting. JD then made the comment that Fraser wouldn’t ever ride for the Comets again. Maybe like Cook last year he’s more hassle than it’s worth, sounds like another case of a rider that wants everything handed to him.1 point

North will have too many teams compared with south. Iwade, Poole and Plymouth don’t make a league. They are truly southern. Suppose if you add in the east angles you get to 5 .1 point

Same situation, they won't give two WC's to Danes with two in already, Michelsen more deserving for me.1 point
