Where is the source of this concept coming from. Unless I am mistaken, The 2026 GP series will run pretty much in line with 2025 concept. Or put another way, your post is without foundation and is in fact utter garbage!7 points

I would scrap all of the GPs. I am not sure that British Speedway has benefitted too much from having them. The old World Final was a much better way of deciding the World Champion than the GPs. However, we have what we have and I suppose we will have to put up with it.6 points

Unfortunately we are where we are but I'd take 100% committed Simon Lambert over play off Bob every day of the week šš»5 points

When Plymouth changed nights from a Tuesday to a Saturday, their crowds increased by several double digit percentages .. Mainly families... Which suggested these people knew about Speedway but were not prepared to have their kids (and maybe even themselves), out late on a Tuesday... There is a reason Poland use Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the vast majority of their meetings, and it isn't to allow all the GP riders there, as, if they ran on Monday and Thursdays only each week, the GP riders would still be there due to the money... However... The fans wouldn't be there in the same numbers, especially the kids who make a up a decent portion of each crowd in Poland.. UK Speedway simply cannot be ran like a "proper team sport" so why keep trying? (The evidence even suggests they don't)... The 2nd tier ran a semi final in their flagship competition, with one team having three guests, yet I suggest the crowd wouldn't have been that different if Glasgow turned up with seven of their own riders, therefore just try and run as many meetings on whatever your "best" night is... The Aces for example would 100% get more fans on a Friday or Saturday night than they do on a Monday, given more families would go... Long gone are the days when you could take what you are watching "too seriously" in the context of a bona fide team sport, yet the raw material of the racing is as good as ever for me, (from Div One to NDL), so just run on nights you find most of your customers want to attend... The Entertainment Industry lives or dies by what it takes at weekend, not what it takes on Monday and Thursday... Plymouth changed nights, not riders, and their crowds have been quoted as doubled, with not one GP rider in sight, and often not even all their own riders there!!5 points

Are all these returning GP riders going to ride for a lot less money, because if they don't we cant afford them5 points

Interesting piece in this week's Speedway Star that the Ford's are pushing for 2H and 2A league fixtures for next season. This needs to happen and do away with the BSN series if needed imo.4 points
-
But we have "RR and guests all over the place" now... So, no real difference other than running on nights that could attract a better crowd level...4 points
-
And that benifits who ? Not even the hard core fans of the top 5 teams want a league with 5 teams or even 6 teams if they could pull one out of the hat, roll on next Wednesday I canāt bare anymore rumours cause thatās all it is at the moment but I canāt help but feel next season is going to be awful for British speedway at the top level3 points
-
100%... You could have a very decent season of racing with "14 Simon Lambert's" riding each week...... And have a very similar crowd level, (after the initial novelty has worn off after about four weeks), that "14 Robert Lambert's" would deliver.... With one being very much more costly than the other, for very little difference in both the entertainment level and the size of the prize in winning.3 points

Ive said it before and ill say it again, Simon Lambert has done much more for the sport than your inane and nonsensical posts on here ever will.3 points

To add, my number one highlight was to the detriment of Belle Vue (sorry BV fans). The 2023 semi final at Belle Vue heat 15 for Emil and Doyle to come through and win vs Bewley and Kurtz was unreal, not many pairs do that to them at Belle Vue! And hats off to Bewley and Kurtz because they made that race amazing to watch. Four laps of total madness with emotions everywhere! What a heat that was.3 points

In light of Andrew Bain's comments about 'something exciting happening for 2026'! Should this be moved to the Premiership section?3 points

A bit harsh.... 'Arry, in that article, seemed to have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the sport from the early 70's to the modern day...š2 points

Would love to have Mcdiarmid at Poole. Considering this guy was 17 in March and his first season in UK at Poole Stadium alone he scored a 4 ride av of 6.77 or 7.38 incl bp from 3 matches and 13 rides. Very impressive for a 17 year old in his first season. His GSA is only 5.18 and he rode in POL U24 Lge and finished runners up with Zischke in the Son FIM U21 World team Champ. Definitely got a future in the sport.2 points

Hopefully Mr Dickson has realised the importance of contributions from a team's RS after the last two seasons. Ideally I'd like to see Dan Gilkes back or even Luke KIlleen. Frustratingly, we carried our No.7 throughout last season and still got within a whisker of doing the double.2 points

I got a sponsor at long Eaton in 1996 and he remained a sponsor till I retired in 2012 and even then I remained in touch till he passed away 2 years ago, I never asked anything of him and was very greatful for whatever sponsorship he gave me which over the 16 years was quite a fair bit,I think itās called respect and although most riders are respectful I have seen a few over the years who imo took the pee2 points

Thought Iād open up a chat if anybody wanted to say thanks to Emil, might end up sharing it with him so he can read some more nice messages over the winter, if anybody wants to share some highlights or best moments of him, lastly, I wanted to share what Chris wrote about him and how it wasnāt easy to get him. More like Chris in this sport needs to be brave and stand up, I think we know the FIM has failed us at this, It was such a difficult time for Emil and his family when he was left in the wilderness because of the war in Ukraine and I felt something needed to be done. āMy work to allow Emil to race in the UK was not universally accepted and alienated me in some quarters, but it soon became apparent that he was going to be a hugely popular character, not only at Ipswich, but up and down the country1 point

The fixture gaps are a problem retaining fans it would go along way too resolving it.Take the 3 BSN + the extras for the teams that made the Semiās and it not that big a problem + some teams didnāt even have fixtures in Oct. Also the fans turned in Oct for Finals so canāt complain about the cold nights.1 point

So why are Poole, Berwick, Glasgow and Redcar been complaining all season about too many long gaps between fixtures then1 point

Apart from his u21 win at Ashfield Sam Hagon hasn't really made any progress, in fact he always underwhelms, especially around Ashfield. I really thought he'd have kicked on by now.1 point

You've posted more than one of these opinion pieces in the GP section and, while they're interesting, I've not seen anything to back them up. Yes, the Moto3 thing and the court case are real, but otherwise it seems to boil down to the fact you don't think it's possible to run a GP series with such commitments and that the GP calendar hasn't been announced. I'd say it's a reach to say the GPs will be reduced significantly in any way, and even more so that it would somehow benefit British speedway. I don't think riders have ever made fortunes from the GPs, that's what Poland is for, so taking an extra 20 meetings in the UK is hardly going to move the needle.1 point

British speedway fans are a curious bunch. Theyāve long lamented the decline of the sport, shouting loudly for change ā yet the moment anyone dares to suggest or attempt something different, the very same voices instantly turn against it. Itās the living embodiment of that old saying: āIf you always do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotā This insular, short-sighted mindset has become part of the sportās identity in Britain. Instead of embracing progress, too many cling to nostalgia, treating innovation as some sort of betrayal. And heaven help anyone who dares to be optimistic ā for in British speedway circles, positivity is often treated as heresy. Those who still see potential in the sport, who genuinely believe it can rise again, are mocked, attacked, or dismissed by a fan base that seems to draw pleasure from rubbishing the very thing they claim to love. If British speedway is to escape its slow decline, the culture around it must change first ā from one of cynicism and self-sabotage to one of belief and boldness. Until then, the sport will remain trapped by its own spectators, let alone its promoters, who must be sick of the pessimism and negativity from within its own fan base! Knowing a little of the inner workings of British Speedway, I used to think some on the inside of the sport, promoters, officials etc were disrespectful when showing disdain for fans, but now, I understand it! Some of you would happily nail the coffin shut on the sport, purporting to want change, but not really, you would rather moan and whinge from behind a keyboard! British speedway's fans are its biggest asset, whilst simultaneously being its biggest weakness!1 point

Antti is a real frustrating rider, often looks like an out and out Number 1 at Home. But away rode like a reserve most of time and averaged 4.71. Often finished 3rd in 5-1 defeats so I think the 4.71 away average flatters him. Would be a good signing for Scunny if all they are concerned about is winning at home and getting fans in. As I think they will really struggle away from home anyways with a big chunk of the points limit already used up, so might as well just try and rack 55+ point wins at home and build from there.1 point

Because most of their sponsors are not Speedway fans who fancy giving their favourite rider/club a few grand a season.... Instead, they are major companies who only want to associate with ventures that have similar values and professionalism to themselves... With, in Poland, it being very much a commercial decision to have their name shown rather than a "oh look my company name is on the telly!"..1 point

Bring back proper race jackets, same as in the 50's, 60's and 70's. They looked good and made for a far better look than the flashy boring suits they wear today. As Marko says, "they all look the same". They have removed all sense of individuality from Speedway. Sad, I think, as that was part of the attraction of the Sport.1 point

Actually - Monday & Thursday nights to see the (for now) top riders in action. Plenty of other clubs to see racing on the other nights - although prevailing attendance & sponsorship does not appear to be making those clubs hugely profitable sellouts - to say the least. As said elsewhere on this forum, it isnāt a single magic bullet thatās required to get UK speedway back on a growth journey (or even stopping the decline) itās a good number of things which need to be addressed and put in place in a coordinated manner. One without the other is wasting precious time and certainly if the clubs/promoters cannot see or agree that working individually is of no long term use to the sport.1 point

Back in the 90s I could name every rider just by looking at a race pic in the speedway star, now I would struggle, as they all look the same.1 point

I'm beginning to realise that the "radical" change that has been mooted for next season is in fact no change... and that, when you think about it, is quite radical for a sport in a terminal decline!1 point
