So Sheffield now join Belle Vue, Leicester, and Kings Lynn in confirming their place in the Premiership in 2026. Complete radio silence from Ipswich way leaving their supporters completely in the dark as to whether they’ll see any speedway next year. Meanwhile, the clubs owner has buggered off to Australia, at the most crucial time in the clubs history. Louis has treated the Ipswich supporters abysmally here I’m afraid.5 points

You may have misunderstood what he actually said. He said if it goes to one league and Sheffield are competing in that league he'd only ride for them4 points

It has never really bothered me who wins a s/way match as long as it is a close scoreline plus decent racing ,winning the league seems to have very little relevance on the attendance figures . Star riders have a limited appeal in getting punters through the gate ,it's the whole package that matters and the blind love of the sport demonstated by the vast majority of fans . I can't understand the criticism of CL in any shape or form he has been wonderful servant to the sport ( I am certain it has not made him any wealthier ) and has decided he has had enough .4 points

We can but as an Ipswich fan I don’t feel let down & neither do any that I’ve spoken too.3 points

Reading the views on the british boxing forum their equivalent to this forum a lot of fans are having the same discussions as us about the state and direction the their sport, seems its not just speedway though we are in a worse state.3 points

I am a Leicester fan and I never want to see quitter Kemp or sniffer Morris in a Lions race jacket again, they've both let the club down badly in the past!3 points

Just thinking any Prem club interested in Riss would be best to wait till his Champ season starts, then sign him a few weeks into the season. Current Prem ave is 6.46, but Champ converted would be 4.75. Of course that could change a little, once he rides in the Champ. To a lesser extent Pickering would be 7.76 in the Prem, but 6.14 on a Champ converted ave. This is why I dislike the current system, as it almost encourages manipulation, as it's legal.3 points

I'd like to know what is being put in place to ensure we're not in the exact same situation (but worse) in twelve months time. The number of clubs left makes one league more sensible. Clubs racing on a night that suits them also makes sense. What needs to be done is something to make that viable. The stumbling blocks all revolve around riders. Be it the international race nights which take preference and the lack of riders of a good enough standard to fill 14 teams without doubling up (impossible in one league). So there should be a big focus next season on getting British riders to a competitive standard at Championship level at least. A good pool of domestic talent will be important to mean sides can have carte blanche over their race nights (not a complete solution I'm aware). But, as we know the Championship teams are full speed ahead at building teams and there are no rules in place (rising star scheme for example) to promote British youngsters at that level. The Premiership isn't sustainable. The Championship sides haven't helped matters by not implementing a rising star scheme or similar. It needs to be changed for next season regardless of what has been signed already, or we're putting off change for good for at least another year. That's valuable time. Everyone needs to pull together in one direction for the good and future of British Speedway.3 points

Surely an accountant can value the company? The BSPA should step in and appoint KPMG or Deloitte.2 points

Must be something in the water down Ipswich way... all these people praising Mr Louis for potentially closing a perfectly viable speedway club down because he couldn't get his way... quite unfathomable.2 points

Add the usual What ifs of how many more would Laguta have won, Emil? IF Darcy Ward hadn't got injured? BZ has been fortunate to be relatively unchallenged in recent years.2 points

If - and as we know its often a big if on here - that 6 is correct, I will be super excited for the new Stars season. All of the named riders are exciting to watch and with a true number one it could be an interesting season. As for the youngsters, isn't that what the Young Stars team is all about? Rushen looks capable far above his years and likewise Scott has shown he will carry on developing. So what if they struggle against any big names, by the end of the season, with an injury free season, both will be showing other 6s & 7s he way round Saddlebow and maybe elsewhere. These lads deserve to be blooded and I just hope that they will be fully supported and given the patience required2 points

Seems like a lot of spin put on that statement, the actuality is more like they couldn't sell it, like many clubs before them. Doesn't bode well for Ippo. Maybe the deadline for the declaration of intent to run its fast approaching?2 points

Makes me wonder if the Bates Boys ever intended to depart from Speedway. Was it all a charade for drawing in some extra investment?2 points

But Cluff shouldn't be on a 3.00 he is an actual Aussie and therefore shouldn't have been allowed to drop below 4.00. Whilst nothing against the rider but the idea is surely to incentivise the signing of British riders over imports?2 points

The Championship has already resisted anything that upsets the exact set up currently in place for 2026 Don't hold your breath that it will be any different for 2027 in terms of them working together2 points

Seems to be an annual topic this, is Craig Cook worth the risk? He's just about as good as anyone in this league on his day. But I've lost count how many last chances he's had, how many times he's gone AWOL and let people down. Ability - yes. Reliability - no.2 points

For the record has Chris Louis gone public on the real reason for putting the club up for sale? Has he actually stated that he does not agree with the way the sport has been run? Or could it be that there are other reasons, which would be private like family/ health reasons. Chris Louis comes across a proud man, could he live with the idea that he was the man to possibly shutdown Ipswich speedway. Or does he have a buyer waiting to takeover the club.1 point

I personally think he's one of the most inexperienced no.1s in the league and may be one of the worst next season.1 point

Would likely sell more season tickets, and get fans more engaged, if there was some snippets of info from the club as to who the rest of the team is going to be... I'm all for 'building the suspense' but the complete radio silence is getting a little tiresome, especially when the club are just repeatedly advertising season tickets....1 point

Not really. we know that unless the club is sold there is no speedway at Foxhall next year. These days a sale can be completed with him half away around the world. A little hard to report on anything when there is simply nothing to report. Sheffield were completely radio silent too. Up until last night. The sport is an absolute mess!1 point

Comparable to Gusts you make a decent point but to say that Rushen is the better / best option for RS is questionable. In terms of development id argue that both Luke Harrison and Jody Scott are ahead of Rushen in regards to ability and experience at higher levels and they still did admirably but certainly not spectacularly at RS. Every year there is a next big thing and all of those riders are largely progressing nicely but thers a heck of a lot more Sam Hagon's than there there are Dan Bewley's1 point

Also the dubious judges decisions are starting to alienate regular boxing fans with many on the british boxing forum calling out blatant robberies and calling the sport corrupt.1 point

Expecting Jack Holder, Chris Holder, Tom Brennan, Leon Flint, Anders Rowe to be the top 5 for 2026.1 point

Nor was Vic Huxley, Tom Farndon, Bluey Wilkinson, Vic Duggan, Jack Young, Ove Fundin, Barry Briggs, Ivan Mauger....it's just impossible to compare riders from different eras and although it gives us fans hours of endless fun speculating, it really is an impossible task to say who was the greatest rider ever. The greatest you've actually seen maybe, but not of all time.1 point

Sadly that is where the sport is and unfortunately it is going to take something special to get the riders to trust those in charge and believe they have a future in the over here. You really despair at the thought process of the few individuals who seemingly are driving speedway in the UK and wonder why they think that everything is hunky dory. Take a look at the Mainland European scene and speedway UK is way behind the curve. Thankfully those on the continent are professional, mainland U K are also rans but at least we can watch professional leagues race through the summer months. Speedway UK simply cannot compete on organisation, credibility or professional run sport. Oh well always regular Sunday speedway from Poland on free streams with the top riders, full stadia and incredible atmosphere. Dream on BSPL.1 point

Really don’t see where the Premiership is going after 2026 as basically it is the same riders in both Leagues.Unless UK can persuade a decent number of quality foreigners riders to ride over here the sport is going nowhere.IMO1 point
