Luckily we dont care what opposing fans think. Brady will be here and 100% of aces fans will be very happy in deed. Happy new year6 points

Although, Garrity also spent more time in prison than Hitler, which makes you wonder…. Maybe he’s literally Hitler. Page 6. I thank you.6 points

I think just regular drug tests would see a few riders retiring quite quickly. Speedway is incredibly backwards in more ways than one.6 points

Would having 6 teams, with no lame ducks involved, bring back the possibility of salvaging a tv deal for 2026? The recent 7 team league, aided by the points limit, seemed to create a situation where two teams were basket cases almost from the start. 6 teams with the 37 point limit will hopefully produce better equilibrium. Last season it seemed like Louis and others strong-armed their needs through at the expense of creating two lame ducks, bully for them but it created a league that was a foregone conclusion soon after it began3 points

I doubt the sanity of any such venture. Why would the Oxford Cheetahs promoters risk diluting the interest in and attendances for Cheetahs matches, soon after ending a failed experiment. Unless they don't have any influence over it, which would still make it utter madness to attempt3 points

Genuine question, would it be viable to build a permanent stand around the 3rd / 4th bend so that they don’t have to spend tens of thousands for the temp stand, thus improving facilities and the look of the stadium. I know lots of people (including me) have light banter across the teams we support but if it is the home of British speedway it’s in the best interest for Britain to have an even better stadium, it would complete the look too IMO, just continue the stadium around the bend to connect the two stands, or is there reason they can’t?2 points

The bloke has done his time and should be allowed to earn an honest living. It wouldn't do the sport many favours to ban him. His crimes weren't anything to do with Speedway or the integrity of the sport. They don't merit a ban from the sport. I would expect all clubs to give him a wide berth though, someone signing him would go down like a fart in an elevator. I certainly wouldn't want him to ride for my club knowing what he did, rehabilitated or not. I would also question how he's funding any comeback. We're regularly reminded of the expenses facing Speedway riders. If he's able to fund equipment then he has a source of income which means he doesn't need speedway. Speedway certainly doesn't need him.2 points
-
He doesn't need to be banned - clubs will have to make their own moral judgement as to whether to employ him Fans then can make the same personal judgement as to whether to attend a meeting he is involved in I for one would not part with a penny to attend any meeting where he was riding2 points

Many congratulations to Poole Promoter Danny Ford and wife Daniella on the birth of their son Brody. Also great to hear Grandad Matt is moving back to UK (for babysitting duties??)🤩😇2 points

For me Louis will keep it on and run it. Australia would have been a good break to gather his thoughts. He will do the right thing and give the Ipswich fans another successful season2 points

Irrespective of the life of crime. He is a dangerous and out of control on speedway bike.IMO His van conveniently broke down a few times.Wonder why🤔!!!!!2 points

You miss the point. We'd all love to earn money doing what we enjoy or are best qualified to do. Given the opportunity anyone would. The point is that doing what he enjoys or is most qualified to do is not his only option to make a useful contribution to society as is being presented by some on here. "If you don't let him ride he'll resort to drug abuse and crime". Utter nonsense. He very well might but that would be on him and not those who decided it wasn't appropriate to employ him. Imagine if we all resorted to drugs and crime if we didn't get what we wanted to do? The vast majority of us just get on with it. Nobody owes this lad a living because he's was a half decent speedway rider, If any promoter is happy enough to accept the negative publicity and risk associated with the lad then that's entirely up to them. If none are willing to do so then he should accept that as a consequence of his own misdemeanours and move on and find another way of being a useful member of society. Perhaps the best comparison is ex footballer Adam Johnson. He made a despicable mistake served his time and has moved on knowing that he'd never be able to do what he was best qualified to do such was the nature of his crime. To say Garrity should be given an opportunity despite the nature of his crime because it's what he does best shows a complete lack of empathy for the victims of his crime and indeed the general public. Who naturally don't like to see people who have behaved despicably being rewarded. I say fair play to any promoter willing to give him a chance. Hopefully he takes it and lives a successful life from this point forward. But let's be clear, any promoter who does so is taking a risk and Garrity should consider himself extremely fortunate to be given an opportunity he is most certainly not entitled to just because he happens to be good at it.2 points

So pleased you cleared that up. I was beginning to wonder what average we was going to get rolf on. 😁2 points

No, far from it. But he is the only rider, as far as I know, that has robbed an elderly woman armed with knives whilst out of his head on crack cocaine. There have been many instances where a rider can come back from a drugs ban. Smarty came back from missing a season and a half and was better than ever after it. Roger Lobb made a successful comeback and Nick Morris seems to of done okay. I do think the ban should be longer for being caught under the influence and they should be tested every meeting for the rest of their career. People say its expensive but it really isn't, I was working in the mines in Australia a few years back and drug tests cost them next to nothing. It is mad how it gets out that drug testers are in attendance at tracks which causes riders to suddenly have a van break down on them. Its criminal how a plank like Garrity can do what he has and now seemingly has Havelock and Wilson backing him on his comeback whereas genuine decent lads with equal ability get next to nothing to help them.2 points

Don't forget Split Waterman, who was twice runner up in the World Championship. After Speedway he turned to a life of crime. Gold smuggling, lots of firearms in his house including two sub machine guns and dies for forging coins. He was also implicated with the Kray twins in a plot to murder a bloke, then imprisoned in Italy for possession of half a million quids worth of forged Spanish pesetas! What a character.1 point

They paid whatever they paid to clear their names. Those that know the details - and you can always ask Paul Burbage as, AFAIK, he attended every day of the trial - know how and why the jury decided they were not guilty.1 point

But wasn't this after the riders involved paid heavily to clear their names? That doesn't suggest they were not guilty to me.1 point

Crazy prices for Speedway the last meeting I went to was a fair few years ago but was a world team cup qualifying round at Lynn, Hamill came back to help the USA out so I mainly went to see him one last time, it was £15 a head and there must have been north of five thousand there with a great atmosphere. I can't remember the year but £15 to £200 over possibly a decade is bonkers.1 point

He could pull the plug on the Cheetahs if that also becomes unviable. There's maybe a couple of self imposed BSPL rules that could be broken. 1. A club with no home riding at another track 2. Another promotion running within the 25(?) mile range of another promotion1 point

Yes, thats what i was getting at later in my post. Presumably the name Oxford Spires couldn't be used, though?1 point

As was always going to be the ultimate outcome from around two decades ago... Short term decision making , after short term decision making, after short term decision making... Years of.... No Leadership, No Strategy, No Vision, and No Growth Plan.... A perfect scenario to deliver precisely what we have today... No surprises though, as what we have today has been called out as the only outcome possible, on here, for years.... You can only presume therefore, that the Promoters didn't see the obvious only outcome of their year on year actions..? Which, given they are the ones trying to sort out the current self inflicted situation, doesn't exactly fill you with confidence does it?1 point

From a brief Google search. Tim Allen - Hollywood actor Robert Downey jr Kiefer Sutherland George Michael Mark Wahlberg Stephen Fry Ozzy Osbourne (Burglary!) Leslie Grantham Jeffrey Archer Johnny Vaughan Finally, are you seriously comparing him to Rolf Harris? At least try and think before you post!1 point

Let's just hope he grasps the opportunity he's been presented with. Having Wilson & Havelock backing him can only because good thing. The argument he should find work elsewhere, when has has proven ability at speedway & no legal bar to do it doesn't seem especially bright. As to his future when he eventually retires, well that's purely up to him. Hopefully a good few years racing will lead him down a path that sees him stay clean. Once again, one person drug free & contributing has to be better than the alternative for everyone from JG to every tax payer in the country.1 point

I'm not really fussed to be honest but this rhetoric about it being a choice between speedway or crime is just complete rubbish. This chap will be extremely fortunate to be given another opportunity to earn a living doing something which he presumably he loved, just not as much as his other apparent addiction. But to say this is his only chance to stay 'clean' is tantamount to holding a gun to the collective speedway communities head. a. there are plenty of other occupations this chap could pursue. sure those will be limited by his qualifications and his criminal record by there are plenty of ex-convicts who obtain gainful employment. it might not be preferential but the vast majority of us, criminal or not, don't get the opportunity to do our dream job. b. what happens when he is no longer physically able to be a speedway rider? straight back to a life of crime? Like I say I have no opinion on whether or not this chap should be given an opportunity but lets not attempt to justify this as being anything other than extremely fortunate if the opportunity does arise.1 point

It wasn't just his Polish club, he said himself it was he himself that didn't want to return to UK tracks as they'd hamper his recovery from injury, only returning when he felt 100%. Us British fans need to understand, with the 💰💰 Poland pay, we're 2nd fiddle & we should just accept the situation as it is (for now). Things always goes in cycles, maybe in 10-20yrs one of the UK, Sweden, Denmark could be the place to be & makes the demands on Poland. While we are were we are, we just have to bow down to the necessary if we want to continue with riders of a higher standard.1 point

I’m afraid there will always be people sympathetic to his self imposed plight thinking he deserves a second chance. The man had huge support when he was involved with Belle Vue and abused that. He had a second chance when he rode for Rye House and abused that. Ask Havvy about his antics when he rode for Coventry - another “second chance - and about his long term shoulder (?) injury that kept him away. Yet another “second chance” was when he was released on licence and was recalled for breaching the conditions. Many years ago, a charity of which I was a trustee set out to help people who had been involved with the criminal justice system, particularly those who had been imprisoned for drug related crimes. We quickly realised that prison had not rehabilitated them and all too many returned to their old ways, and would say whatever they felt needed saying to get their own way. I fear the journalist how wrote the piece in the Star was a victim of such tactics - put simply, was he conned? Anyone tempted to help Garritty needs so have an over abundance of caution and resilience. Some people don’t change.1 point

I find it absolutely astonishing that people think this piece of dirt should be allowed back into speedway. There are lines between crimes and getting pissed and jumping on a bike, whilst completely irresponsible, is not in the same league as smoking crack and holding up an old woman at gunpoint. He is the lowest of the low. People need to hang their heads in shame comparing him to a rider who has failed a booze or drug test. It is crazy how he didn't get banned before he completely and utterly ballsed his life up. Have heard many stories about his behavior and drugs etc from well before he got banged up.1 point

Unbelievable that people have already been sucked into his blatant lies in Speedway Star about how “nobody was at home during these crimes.” Absolute bullsh*t. He pleaded guilty to exactly what he was charged with, which was robbing the elderly at knife point IN THEIR HOMES. One of those was an elderly lady on a mobility scooter who he followed home. Great start by someone who wants forgiveness…lying about your crimes.1 point
-
Prison is there to punish and rehabilitate. He's done his time, now we've got to hope the rehabilitation works. He has experience in two things - Speedway and crime. If we don't want him to return to crime, we need to push him down the path of an honest future. Sadly it seems the "Holier Than Thou" brigade want to push him down a path of crime, so they can say "I was right".1 point
-
Let him/her/they/them, without sin cast the first stone. Not condoning anything he has done. Can anyone with hand on heart say they have never been given a second chance?1 point
-
He had the chance before and blew it. Including when he stole other riders possessions from changing rooms. Leopards don’t normally change their spots and he will prove this once again. Anyone who takes him on has got to be desperate.1 point

The old saying "If you can't do the time don't do the crime" will ring loud However he has & he did & he's far from the first to serve time in one of their Majesty long stay hotels. His offence was nothing to do with his past speedway life & should not cause issue with his future within speedway. Other riders have commited drug or alcohol offences whilst racing & have returned to the sport with little fuss. They were given their second chance so why not Jason Garrity1 point
