So, despite fans saying "the sport is dying, something has to be done" and "we want more fixtures", it's the same old same old. Promoters don't seem to want to listen and are, basically saying "all is well with the sport". Head in the sand continues from them. Some teams will finish their fixtures in July/early August and some will struggle to get their fixtures in by the end of October. It's pathetic.5 points

I remember him giving an interview 5 or 6 years ago saying that doubling up needed to be phased out for the integrity of the sport. Nothing has happened in that regard. I guess there comes a time where if you cannot influence change for the greater good, you pack up & head off in to the sunset. Just as we all would.4 points

The BSPL do not appear to consider the views of fans and this is a contributing factor for the current failing state of British Speedway and why the people in charge have largely been a catalyst in it's continued decline and it is still going on.4 points

But Chris had seen this coming, he's been banging his head against a brick wall for a long time now. Six man teams in one league was a suggestion many months ago, but a large majority of clubs refused to enter any worthwhile discussion. And now the ship continues to steer towards the rocks...3 points

The way his statement was worded I think he tried but couldn’t drag the others or enough of the others with him. The term things no longer align seems to indicate something along those lines.3 points

Catch 22 ,not having regular fixtures does not promote the sport and even diehards drift away with irregular fixture lists.Speedway overall is not in a good place in GB. IMO3 points

The trouble clubs have is that only the diehards want 2h2a the floating fan doesn’t actually care about this and in some cases see this as a negative. I can’t remember the exact figure but from memory Edinburgh announced that back when it was 2h/2a the crowd for the second time a club visited was down something like 15% on average from the first. The sad thing being most clubs now don’t have enough diehards to break even so if clubs are potentially losing money per match this being made up with sponsorship etc then less matches is a better financial model for clubs.3 points

It does exist for the Premiership, where one fan per club is part of the Fans Voice group, which meets periodically with Phil Morris. Some of the reps have gained some traction with their own clubs promoters There is also a rep on the group who does not represent Premiership clubs, but acts as a rep for feedback from other clubs and defunct clubs. The group that that rep comes from contacted all other clubs and got zero respone. However, they collect views and ideas from fans on the groups Facebook page and submit those monthly or thereabouts to Phil Morris. At last years AGM Phil presented the document, which had 1600 lines of ideas and comments. Regretably the fedback from AGM was almost non existent. Ideas have again been summarised and submitted throughout last season, with no feedback at all. It's difficult to help promoters when they simply wont engage.2 points

With the out lay that he needs to make in 2026 vs having no tv revenue & a frankly awful looking premiership there is every reason that a club that was profitable in 2025 wouldn’t be in 2026 & Louis isn’t prepared to take the risk. As you said yourself a speedway club isn’t a good investment at the moment & Louis doesn’t want to invest to invest in the sport any longer. I don’t blame him to be honest especially if you put a sensible way forward & others are not interested. A lot of ifs buts & maybes however if the content for the rental of Foxhall has expired then he could sit on the licence for a year with no financial cost to himself. Louis is a very intelligent chap & a pretty sound businessman he won’t be doing anything that poses a risk to his future or leave him with costs that need covering.2 points

only 1 team in the top league will be affected though, the rest are in the playoffs ....2 points

It doesn’t say much about him when you say he ain’t going to stay straight working in Poundland. Why not?2 points

Oh come on 😳this is the most important AGM since last year and the collective of personnel that the sport has never seen the likes of before, personally I’m expecting some inspirational decisions that will take speedway to new heights of greatness in the sporting world2 points

Very sad when fans feel this way when riders put their lives at risk to entertain the public.2 points

What kind of court case do you think this was, a Kray Twins type court case? Paying off the jury? No matter how much of a scumbag Ward, Morris and Barker are or are portrayed to be, its common knowledge in the speedway world that the bird knew exactly what was going on. Same as Ched Evans the Welsh footballer. Foolish behavior yes, rapist? absolutely not. Garrity was caught and admitted holding an OAP at knifepoint for her money. Totally different thing. OAP robbers, paedos, rapists etc are scum that should have no way back into normality. Same as when that paedo Shawn came on here justifying Garritys crimes, the dirty bast**d (Shawn) was found in possession of the worst child abuse images you can get. He got jailed (not long enough) and released and caught up to his old tricks again. Should be hung . Thats why I have a vendetta against Shovlar now, he knew exactly what Shawn had been up to yet still was seen on here and twitter communicating with him. There is scum that can be reformed and scum that can't. Paedophiles, crackhead granny robbers etc cannot be reformed. Jason Garrity is a long term class A drug addict who robbed innocent, elderly , vunerable people. The scumbag should be nowhere near the sport again and anyone who thinks he should needs to hang their heads in shame.2 points

What are people’s thoughts on Rob Godfreys tenure leading the BSPL ? is he the right person to lead the sport out of its current top flight mess and if not who would you like to see as a replacement ? my personal opinion is we need a change and my shortlist would be Phil Morris Matt ford or Peter facenna.1 point

Yes, they'll have to do the usual AGM legal requirements, maybe announce "club 5", then say Ipswich are being given an additional (?) days/weeks to confirm their position, hopefully to allow legal completion of a sale and meeting of SCB reqiurements?1 point
-
well the connection was that you can go on and make something of yourself despite a crimninal past! It maybe a tough long hard road but it can be done!. I wasn't connecting it to sport so perhaos a abetter example might have been used but Martindale was one of the few i could think of!1 point

Yep John was a brilliant promoter but despite the current mess up until the bombshell Louis was the best of the current promoters the thing they both had in common is the Ipswich Witches being probably the best supported club in the UK.1 point

Suits are sponsored, at some teams, the company or a fan pays for the suit and at the end of season it's yours to keep, that's what Workington do 😀1 point

Just a hunch, he doesn't strike me as that type of person judging by his past. I think speedway offers the best route as it's probably the one thing he's good at. I'm pleased he won't be signing for my club either way.1 point

I would say that it will be Josh Pickering over Tom Brennan after what he told the Speedway Star regarding the structure of the League's for the coming season. Given a choice I would rather go with Josh over Tom.1 point

And is obligatorily played at every speedway track on the planet before the final race 😂1 point

I think youre right regarding averages, and i dont think assessed averages were a " thing" until points limits were introduced for team building, replacing rider control, some time in the late 70s I think1 point

Talk about being hypercritical. I thought it was only reddit football fans that jumped to conclusions so quick. Tate has been very good in Aus. He finished third and fifth overall in his first two meetings over there, only getting beaten by people youd expect him to. Whereas Hook, who you all seem to be praising, was absolutely awful, getting beat by junior riders. Yesterday he was disappointing but it was due to bike issues and today hasn't been much better. I expect he'll push on as the championship progresses but we'll see. Zischke will most certainly be a better rider this season with less travelling and better equipment. Edit: dont think im slating Hook here, because im not. Hook was phenomenal last season and if it were up to me, he would have been first name on the list. Yes there are doubts around whether he can perform in the main body of the team, but he earned a chance by his performances last season.1 point

Pretty sure that averages in that era included bonus points, but even so, he was very impressive. Tall riders tend to look clumsy on a bike but he was an exception.1 point
-
Indeed - I've even known one time where a rider took such a knock to the left ankle that it caused so much pain and confusion it made him limp on the right one It's truly amazing the lengths they go to sometimes to entertain us. Hang on he didn't - he pulled out of the meeting instead1 point

Garrity was released on license and ended up back inside. So that should answer that. Regarding the poster who asked if anyone making these comments would say them to Garritys face, I absolutely would.1 point
-
I reckon they will go with Chris Holder, Josh Pickering and Jye Etheridge. Rising Star either Jody Scott or Luke Harrison.1 point

I cant remember any assessed averages back then. in 1975 he rode at 7, 6, and finished the season riding at 5.1 point

Garrity’s recollection of his crimes don’t match the descriptions of what he was sentenced for.1 point
-
Garrity spent far less time inside than Nelson Mandela did. He must've been a proper wrong 'un. Though to be fair, prison must've worked. He never reoffended, and they let him run a country.1 point

So basically - shut up, turn up and pay up No thanks Make your choice - accept the consequences1 point
-
He doesn't need to be banned - clubs will have to make their own moral judgement as to whether to employ him Fans then can make the same personal judgement as to whether to attend a meeting he is involved in I for one would not part with a penny to attend any meeting where he was riding1 point

I find it absolutely astonishing that people think this piece of dirt should be allowed back into speedway. There are lines between crimes and getting pissed and jumping on a bike, whilst completely irresponsible, is not in the same league as smoking crack and holding up an old woman at gunpoint. He is the lowest of the low. People need to hang their heads in shame comparing him to a rider who has failed a booze or drug test. It is crazy how he didn't get banned before he completely and utterly ballsed his life up. Have heard many stories about his behavior and drugs etc from well before he got banged up.1 point
-
He had the chance before and blew it. Including when he stole other riders possessions from changing rooms. Leopards don’t normally change their spots and he will prove this once again. Anyone who takes him on has got to be desperate.1 point

Think drug and alcohol offences are different to beating up pensioners when burglarying their home 🤔🤡1 point
