Ipswich were more than happy to take Tom off Birmingham and see them “make up the numbers”. Tom had ridden part of their season at number 1 after we released him. When you consider the top two the witches had in place, tapping up Tom seemed unnecessary if looking at the bigger picture. It did however achieve what Louis wanted with his league win, and that’s all that mattered to him.8 points

I don’t buy that. The vast majority of fans switch off at the end of the season & come back at the start of the new one. It’s only us on here that get our knickers in a twist, a small percentage of those who actually attend. If the side ends up getting beaten week in week out then yes the attendance will drop, but the goings on this winter won’t make much difference to the attendance at the start of the season7 points

Which shows how quickly any agreement can change/disappear Until the announcement nothing is guaranteed Whilst I expect it to happen I'm almost of a mind that it may be best that it doesn't so that the whole house of cards collapses and forces a real reset5 points

The fact someone is signing Scott Nicholls in 2026 in a “Premiership” team says everything really. That’s no slight on him either. He’s been a fine rider for many years but come on now the bloke is on the slippery slope to 50 and just spent nearly a year out injured. It’s all a bit desperate.4 points

Was it "Ipswich" that made the commitment, as legally at that time, the owner was probably C.Louis who had made his intentions (or rather his non-intentions) very clear. In which case did the BSPL knowingly make that announcement without being on safe and solid ground, taking a risk on the sale proceeding to satisfactory completion and keeping fingers crossed behind their backs?3 points

I put the first idiot on block as it was tedious and is good since people stopped quoting him. Haven't got any issues at moment with other but if I do they will go on block3 points

Assuming it is a guy... like I said, the ignore feature is an option for those it irritates so much. I don't use the feature myself, even though I'd be well justified with some of the abuse I've copped on here, but even a stopped clock is right twice a day 👍3 points

I like to think I have a good sense of humour , but this guy just wants to post silly comments on almost every topic. He contributes very little to the forum , & often stupid remarks are the last thing that is needed.3 points

Was his old account banned, or was it just the fact that, as so many put his account on ignore, he wasn't getting any attention? Well both his accounts can go on ignore now.3 points

Not John Perrin. 2013 vs Poole in the David Gordon era. Two riders, Zagar and Zetterstrom (allegedly) missed their plane, and the track was deliberately over watered. Darren Hartley was dispatched by SCB to investigate as he lived locally. My recollection was that BV were fined and told in future they needed to have a referee’s inspection before a meeting was called off3 points

I truly cannot believe the negativity on here .. It is almost like people are not taking into consideration the innovative, successful, marketing genius of those who have run the sport for the past 15 years plus....2 points

Fackin ell', what has happened to the good ol' 'British Thick Skin'? We've had irritating members for decades. No idea what the Championship threads are like now Poole are over there but a couple of their lot used to be on every thread day in, day out, rattling people. I can be antagonistic, but who on here isn't now & again. There's ignore &/or don't respond. 100%, there's absolutely zero need for banning anyone. The biggest problem on this forum (and other social media platforms) is the 'gatekeeping' because you don't like someone elses opinions & the inability to be able to say your piece & move on. Some just can't help going on & on just to "win" the argument. This "Spammer" is by far & away this forums smallest problem.2 points

Perhaps we have got this all wrong? To find out what made speedway so great back in the day the bspl and speedway futures have been watching old episodes of world of sport with Dickie Davies and they have put their collective heads together and decided that Kendo Nagasaki is the marketing idea to follow, Northampton will not be revealed to the public until a few years time and compete all their matches as a complete mystery to the public, see there is us lot slagging them off when really a genius idea was being implemented all along2 points

Can’t disagree with any of that. If they had the six I mentioned on the provision that Thorssell would be the seventh, then they might have to rip up a couple of deals and have a rethink. The problem is, if there was a lack of quality options to begin with, then it’s not likely to be any different now. With the six plus Jenkins, the season is a write off before it’s even started. That’s not being negative, just a reality. What on earth are Northampton going to go with if they get the Green light? A top two of Klindt and Iversen?2 points

A lot of 2,1’ in there but it’ll suffer from a lack of heat winners and will get outgunned especially on the road where you can see a good few hidings coming. Hopefully whoever told Noaksey Thorssell was unlikely, is the same source that told him Adams might be the new Team manager 🤪 He was the make or break signing for this team IMO and would have made it more palatable. If the last place is filled by Jenkins or similar (with the greatest respect to him) then it’s a stinker of a team let’s be honest. The level of support will be interesting. The fans are used to seeing a sprinkle of stardust at Foxhall but are now going to see the fella that was third in the averages, suddenly jump two places to be the out and out number 1. There is some decent solid riders in there don’t get me wrong, but the problem is they’re all riders that should be slotting in at 3 and 4, not heatleader positions where they’ve proven to struggle in the past. Musielak particularly. Feel a bit for the new owners. They’ve come in late in the day and have been dealt a pretty poor hand. Only thing I’d say is let’s wait and see if they’re proactive because options will develop later in the season.2 points

Speaking as a speedway fan and not the parent of a rider. I would not be attending a meeting this year. To be left in the dark to this extent yet expected to pay my hard earned and turn up to watch god knows who on a random date yet to be determined…. I’d have found another sport to follow weeks ago.2 points

Paul Turle is a friend of mine going back to our cycle speedway days with BournemouthViscounts in the late 1970’s. He moved to grasstrack and tried unsuccessfully to establish a speedway career. I can ask him to contact you by whichever message you prefer if that would help.2 points

Given the woke ideas of today more likely to be Adrian Street. If you needed someone who could dodge everything and still come out a winner, Les Kellett fits the bill but both are probably off the radar for the BSPL. More likely Steve Logan aka as Harry Redknapp.1 point

Top tier promoters were trying to encourage some second tier teams to go into the top league... Imagine if Poole and Glasgow had gone into the top league (I won't say "moved up", as it isn't really), and Oxford had decided to stay...? Even without Northampton, where would the riders have come from?1 point

It's not his team to announce though is it! If you were negotiating a sale worth tens of thousands of pounds to you would you be disclosing the planned new owners team against their wishes? That doesn't seem the best way to conduct the process to me....1 point
