What amenities were you expecting from a 5th tier Scottish league stadium? A glass fronted hospitality suite, two bars, a food outlet, track shop, 1,400 seater grandstand, a fantastic viewing point on the 3rd bend. Passing never been prominent at Shielfield, but there was more passing last night than at Redcar the previous night.7 points

Scotty not too embarrassing tonight, if it wasn’t for him the score would have been embarrassing. The only embarrassing thing about this post is your comment!!6 points

It is encouraging to see a council such as Rugby continuing to provide such support for this campaign. You can only imagine how different Speedway’s position would have been had Swindon and many other councils offered similar backing.3 points

This looks a little bit more hopeful for Coventry and the 'Bees'. Some (one) of the naysayers should be ashamed of themselves. Folk only want and hope for their Speedway to return, what is so very wrong with that? I live in Sunderland and have no skin in the game, but I would love Coventry to return to Speedway. Up The 'Bees'!!!!!3 points

I wouldn’t go as far saying he has been poor this season but he hasn’t hit the heights he is capable off.2 points

Good luck to Pedersen let’s see if he can grab his chance to impress. And good luck to Bangs too hope he gets fixed up in the Championship and rediscovers his true form. There’s no question he’s a much better rider than what we’ve seen.2 points
-
Agreed. He seems to make good decisions on the racetrack and is a decent gater..2 points

Ryan Kinsley, if i remember us Scunny fans couldnt believe it, he blasted around the outside of Nicholls to win then he came into the next race and won that too2 points

Ridiculous scoreline. Although i suppose without Barker and King, was going to be a struggle. Losing two at home going to make it difficult for playoffs now. Shame really as not a lot you can do about injuries. Although maybe everyone should think about maybe not using Bomber as a guest for a bit! 👀😬2 points

Not sure, however, the Polish teams tend to foot the bill for the riders rehab, regardless of where they were riding when they got their injuries.. And it can easily run into high five figure costs... Meaning the rider's UK team can benefit from their rider coming back quicker...2 points

I would say the introduction of air fences, has definitely been a factor in riders going on into in to their 40s. Riders bodies in the 80s and 90s took a lot more punishment with solid fences taking no prisoners, hence imo thats why a lot of riders didn't make it past their mid 30s.1 point

That wasn't meant to come across as rude sorry, I thought it had been listed on there ages ago.1 point

Częstochowa team is a joke at Ekstraliga level. Zielona Góra should have been top 4 contenders but other the Lebedevs, their top 5 have been a disappointment. Kubera is rubbish, Madsen & Pr Pawlicki very hot/cold.1 point

They're a better team than Leszno, hope they make top 4 but thus is a massive dent if Torun win.1 point

and, of course, speedway updates is very accurate and detailed 😉 sometimes they can’t even get the score right! Don't get me wrong, updates is a valuable site but it’s done by volunteers who are sometimes biased and usually do not have time to give you a full and accurate account of each individual race. and yes, I have been an ‘inputter’ on the site so know how difficult it is, bless them.1 point

OK so a few teams are now about half way through the regular season, the league table only tells you so much. So here's a League table based on the teams average points per meeting. Poole. 2.33 Glasgow. 1.50 Berwick. 1.50 Scunthorpe. 1.37 Edinburgh. 1.33 Redcar. 1.00 Plymouth. 0.85 Workington. 0.66 Oxford. 0.44 Redcar are starting to show their class, What's happening with Plymouth? Poole clearly can be beaten.1 point

Yeah, the saltiness is strong with this one. Ipswich being owned by Mayfield and part owned by Wroclaw has gone down about as well as a fart in a spacesuit up Manchester way.1 point

People might say Scott shouldn’t be losing to youngsters but why not? When Scott was young he would have beat much older riders and now he is well into his 40s the same is happening, that’s why most used to retire, because they could no longer keep up with the kids, except in this country we have too few kids so the old timers are not under the same pressure and can ride for longer without them looking like a shadow of their younger selves. Scott is still a very good rider and riders of Scott’s age look after themselves much more than back in the day but age will catch up to you eventually, look at Serena Williams in tennis, knocked out of Wimbledon in straight sets.1 point

The gaps between fixtures across both leagues is an absolute disgrace during summer months.1 point

Track was like a typical Glasgow lady, very wet and a little rough. Track was there to be attacked. A half hour delay and the meeting would of been complete1 point

An interesting answer from the BSP to a question asked by the Speedway Star as to why we now have riders absent on Thursdays when it was a UK priority night... It has been mentioned in here quite a few times, so I thought I would share the "official line".. Included within the answer is this... "Ahead of the 2025 season, a new TV deal in Poland saw selected fixtures from Metalkas 2 Extraliga (the second division) switched to Thursday evenings, usually one meeting per round. Faced with a scenario whereby rider availability for those competing in Poland may well have been further restricted, agreement was reached for the concession of priority to Poland for these televised Thursday fixtures". Now, my simplistic view would be that saying " No" to losing priority would have guaranteed no clashes, whilst saying "Yes" to losing priority pretty much guarantees clashes.. However, I presume some "leverage" was involved from those holding all the Speedway cards?... Another excellent production this week...1 point

Officials from Lublin visited Tarnow yesterday with a view to using the stadium in 2027 whilst the Lublin stadium is re built. Apparently one problem is the track lighting does not meet Extraleague specification and one answer might be to move the lights from Lublin to Tarnow temporarily.1 point

Well, at least they have listened to allow cash and card on the night. Just need to get things sorted on track now.1 point
