  1. There isn’t one. What? So you’re saying he’s actually lying and there WERE better option out there? Name names as you seem to be another playing the “in the know” game. Let’s look at the facts here shall we? It was your “messiah” Louis and his mate that decided to bugger off at the eleventh hour leaving not only Ipswich hunting around for the scraps left on the table, but also inconvenienced every other club in the league with his selfish attitude. He left his own die hard supporters fearing the absolute worst over the long winter months, not knowing whether their beloved club would still even exist, which also threw the whole league set up in chaos with no clubs able to release their own fixtures and sell their own season tickets which clubs rely on for winter cash flow. I find your post along with those from TTT incredibly ungrateful to both Richard Coleman, AND Paul Hurry for rescuing Ipswich and the top league this season. Hurry by all accounts, doesn’t get paid a single penny for his role as team manager, just expenses paid. He’s doing the club a favour here. I find it genuinely staggering that an Ipswich supporter of all people, are looking at Coleman’s arrival negatively. In my opinion, he’s been a breath of fresh air and spoken incredibly well on lots of varying issues. The communication has been first class despite him only being in place a matter of months. Coleman knew his media man Paul Burbidge had written up the main story in the Speedway Star about the partnership with Wroclaw a couple of weeks ago, so he gathered supporters at Foxhall to tell them the news first, 24 hours before the article went to press. That again, is first class. That partnership should be exciting the Ipswich supporters, not creating negativity. It’s certainly ruffled a few feathers of fans from other clubs judging by their catty comments on here! I see one from Leicester a few posts up has joined the party, “liked” by the usual suspects from Manchester. The bloke has literally just walked in the door at your club, he’s given the supporters another year of Speedway despite only getting the keys in March, all whilst promising the supporters a better 2027 when they’ll be given a fair chance of building a team. Show some gratitude.

  2. Mitch Cluff came into KJP's pits straight afterwards and apologised and then waited after the meeting to apologise in person to Kevin in the ambulance. As KJP has personally stated he has no issue with it, he himself said its easy to understand how Mitch got caught in the moment of finishing a great night of scoring. Mistake made, apology given, riders no issue, subject closed.

  3. I really struggle with all the negativity currently around the club. we had an amazing 3 years with Emil & Jason & bar injuries should have won more & let’s not forget how we threw away the title in 2023. Coleman & co coming in late was always going to provide problems with the team in terms of who was available. I was always prepared to write this year off however we have a cup final & are still in with a shout of the play offs. To win the play offs you need a team that goes well at Belle Vue & not many sides do that. Your going to meet them either in the semi of the final. If Mayfield puts together similar team in 2027 & this time next year we are having similar conversations then they will deserve the criticism. The negative part for me is that in 5 years time of Coleman hasn’t managed to change this both in the uk & at gp level he will walk away form both. However at that point if he hasn’t managed to get change though & we are not seeing uk speedway improving to be honest there won’t be much to walk away from at uk level.

  4. Sorry, but thats complete rubbish. Loram, Havelock, Tatum, Screen, Louis, Smith, Morton, Collins and Craven were all much better than Woffinden

  7. It’s criticising for the sake of it. The heat 15 choice was simply two from three candidates, and the manager went with the two better trappers and not the rider who tailed off badly against the same Belle Vue pairing two heats earlier! It’s all a bit bizarre on here at the moment and all a bit OTT.

  8. He’s talking about the previous fixture against Belle Vue. To be fair to Hurry, it’s easy to question his selecting with the benefit of hindsight knowing Belle Vue had a last heat 1-5. But from their programmed rides, Lawson was 3, 1’, 3, 3 and King was 2, 2, 3, 3. Musielak was 3, 3, 3, 0. Although Musielak’s duck egg was a tough heat 13. It wasn’t an obvious choice for heat 15, and IMO King and Lawson are slightly better gaters than Tobi so I didn’t disagree with the choice at the time personally. I certainly wouldn’t describe it as a major clanger. On your second point about changes,, There are so few options once the season gets underway that any are likely to be like for like. People mention Doyle, but Belle Vue asked the question when they had a vacancy but we’re talking about a rider just shy of an 8 point average. You’d have to remove Brennan probably and at least one other, and with Brennan struggling everywhere and losing rides abroad, Coleman doesn’t strike me as the sort of owner to add to his problems and dump him here also. As I’ve said before, that may be irritating to supporters in the long term who want success and instant changes when things aren’t going well, but the flip side of that, is I can see Coleman being a popular owner for riders to ride for. He seems genuinely supportive and sympathetic to riders as we saw from the way he dealt with the rider insurance issue so I don’t think he’ll be short of offers from riders over the winter wanting to ride for him. That can only be of benefit to Ipswich.

  11. Really interesting topic. I don't like any of those AI suggestions and the trouble with using the word Dirt is that it has negative connotations. Looking at high profile sports branding the shorter the better and often it's the governing body/promotion name which takes precedence. F1, NFL, NBA, WWE, UFC, EPL, ECL, MLB, NHL. The name of the sport remains but people refer to the competition. i.e. they say did you watch the NFL last night, not did you watch the American Football or Gridiron. I'd focus on Oval Track and rebrand it OTR. Would open up the content to include other disciplines like short track or quad racing for example as that might be what the events look like in the future. Oval Track Racing (OTR) lets the punters know what to expect. i.e. racing on an oval track. I'm willing to accept my £1 million consultancy fee in used notes in a brown paper bag. I don't mind if Harry Redknapp is given the credit for the sake of puplicity.

  13. Screen may have had more natural talent but was nowhere close to Woffy as an overall package as a rider. Smith is nowhere close to Woffy. Havelock had a good couple of years but faded pretty quickly but won a weakened world final on a patchy track. Tatum and Morton were good riders but never managed to get it done on the big stage. Loram and Collins were both more exciting to watch but only won one world title. Can’t say much about Craven as never saw him race. Woffy is our greatest ever rider and was at the top of his game for numerous years.

  15. Poole could be waiting for erik riss to come back and take his place at Oxford, meaning Eddie Kennett would be available Hence the reason Poole have more fixtures left than anyone else!

  16. Very much this as well. None of us know what is being discussed in the pits between manager and riders. Track conditions change during the course of a meeting. Musielak on this occasion looked quick early on, but by time heat 13 came along and the track completely slickened off, he ran a last and looked slow. It’s conceivable that he felt the conditions weren’t suiting him by that stage. As you rightly say, there’s lots of factors that come in to play that affect riders selection. Track conditions, machinery issues, illness, all sorts.

  18. Sometimes it’s not the manager that finally picks the riders really he will usually get the top scorers together and they discuss who wants to take the rides, sometimes they don’t want it sometimes they do it maybe depends what gate they might be off lots off things

  19. Looking at guest usage over the last 10 years or so and it's remarkably consistent with 2017 being a particularly bad year, not that any of it makes for good reading. But I think the reasoning for the usage of guests is being abused far more in recent seasons than in the past when generally it was for injuries and international duties. Season Estimated league & play-off matches Guest appearances Guests per 100 matches 2016 ~350 350 100 2017 ~270 340 126 2018 ~240 255 106 2019 ~235 250 106 2020 0 0 – 2021 ~190 225 118 2022 ~180 205 114 2023 ~185 215 116 2024 ~185 220 119 2025 ~170 198 116 What it shows 2016: ~100 guest bookings per 100 matches. 2025: ~116 guest bookings per 100 matches. So despite there being fewer clubs and fewer fixtures, the rate of guest use has actually increased by about 16% compared with 2016. Another way to express it: 2016: roughly 1 guest booking every match. 2025: roughly 1.16 guest bookings every match. I think this is the strongest statistic because it compares like with like instead of just counting total guests.

  23. Will always be a controversial guy but can't fault his three world titles. I remember watching him get a maximum at Newport for Rye in his debut season and you just knew he was going to be good, he stagnated for a year or so at Wolves and looked a million miles away from being a world champion but fair play to him. He has the same amount of titles as Crump and Pedersen. Would you rate him as highly as them? Not for me. But for people to compare the likes of Andy Smith and Gary Havelock to him is a joke and shows how thick the poster must be.
    2 points
  24. Wasn't Smith a Coventry rider when he won his three titles at Brandon? Collins and Morton were before my time. Havelock was good in 92, but as you say benefited from a wet track, Jonsson messing up his first ride, Ermolenko losing his head because of the delay and conditions, and Nielsen being injured and subsequently not getting to Wroclaw. Havelock deserved the title, but was also in the right place at the right time. Loram was probably the same. He was excellent in 99 and 2000, but helped by Rickardsson having two poor refereeing decisions go against him and Hamill being inconsistent. Loram and Havelock were both riders who were never likely to scale that peak again. Screen I would say was as talented as Tai and on his day was brilliant to watch, but was always handicapped by his poor gating and never got over the leg break he had in 2001. Tatum was a top rider, but tended to jump out of the way when someone showed him their back wheel. Also amuses me when he insists riders should just get on with it in wet conditions, when he was the first one putting his gear back in the van if he didn't fancy it.

  25. Totally agree, the issue isn't calling this particular match off, but the fact they've had long gaps without home fixtures, will be well into July with only 2 home meetings raced! If there's a cut-off date for the play-offs, it shouldn't be moved back when clubs only have 8 home league fixtures to fit in. How would clubs ever cope running 2 home & 2 away, that so many ask for?

  26. What a load of rubbish I'm reading from so called supporters and giving opinions after an event is pointless The outcome of Heat 15 could have been the same with a different rider line up, so easy to critique once you know the outcome Jog. On.
    2 points
  27. i would not pay him a penny after that performance. there are some riders you don't ask to guest and he is one of them. Its like teams who would ask Bjarne Pedersen to guest for them vs Poole. Why would you bother? R/R giving everyone a ride would of been a much better decision and probably would of given Glasgow the win. Glasgow have improved ten fold, great track , great fans, great stadium but whoever makes the team decisions needs the boot.

  28. I think the fact that not one Edinburgh fan has stood up for Cluff speaks volumes. Also the two guests have had a massive impact on the result.

  29. No deflecting; I’ve twice said Edinburgh were deserved winners. I’m in the minority in that I hope the Monarchs do well. I enjoy a trip to Armadale, even when Glasgow aren’t involved and in my younger years, would regularly do Armadale on a Friday and Ashfield on a Sunday. I said I thought you were title challengers last season and said the same this season. I wasn’t confident going into last night; I think you’ve built a very strong side. However what I won’t tolerate is indecency and an extreme lack of respect. Celebrating while another rider (who you’ve now passed twice) lies motionless on the track and subsequently preventing paramedics from reaching him sooner… in a race where you came third, only because of said incident because you were dead last before it… is God awful behaviour.

  31. Smith won three British Finals against riders like Loram, Screen, Louis, Dugard back-to-back. Woffinden did it by bullying the likes of Danny King, Craig Cook and Ben Barker. He also had opportunities to win more and was even given home track advantage and still failed to do it. Smith was a better rider

  36. I’m a big advocate for individualism, but Kemp turning up dressed like a Spice Girls back-up dancer, then putting in a performance like that is wild. For those who missed it, the Glasgow team’s track walk consisted of six guys wearing club merchandise and tracksuits, then one wearing an oversized cream tracksuit and Bono-like blue tinted sunglasses.😂 Had it not been for Hausl’s crash and retirement, our stand-in number one would have scored zero. Mental. Hopefully Cluff’s van breaks down on the way home. Horrible little dwarf.

  49. Without a doubt the scummiest thing I’ve ever witnessed in 30+ years of watching speedway from Mitchell Cluff. Beyond inappropriate, entirely tone deaf and outright nasty to a remarkable degree. Sick to my stomach watching that crash. Seeing Pedersen sit up is bigger than any win.
