As with most decisions and agreements in speedway its more than likely not worth the paper its written on, what happens if a club is sold and the new owners do not wish to run premiership? What if the present owners have decided that they have lost enough money already and don't fancy another season of it? Remember this is British Speedway and its made up of what ifs and maybe's, nothing can be taken as gospel or a certainty.

Scoreline kept me interested but unlike last week the racing didn't. Funny how a big scoreline last week can be much more better racing than a scoreline close like tonight.

It's called promoting! Fans more likely to attend when there is opposition riders they like as well as the home riders. For example a lot of Poole fans like King and Nicholls so bigger crowd when Plymouth come, than when Oxford are here.

Contrived teams being just put together, with minimal affinity being felt by many who closely follow the sport.. It doesn't engender that emotional loyalty that a team sport needs to be successful.... Crowds are better at the weekends than when they have played during the week though.. And heading to the knockout stage the interest and crowds are expected to grow... Sounds strangely familiar....

It seems it’s break. If next season is the exact same as this season I’m not sure if I can be bothered. Its a shame as some teams are being held back by others who would rather slowly kill everything than let teams who want to make something of the sport just get on with it.

BVTV have by the best screen display as in regards to the info they show on the screen but they have too many camera angles and changes so many times in one lap you can’t focus on the actual racing which is a shame, if they limited it to the large ‘broadcast’ view of the whole track with just a few times zooming into when two riders are racing close then they would be smashing their live stream.

Absolutely, a great race track might not get more fans through the gate but a bad one will see you struggle to keep what you have. A promoters greatest asset isnt the riders or the stadium, its the track itself, your whole business is about what happens on that oval, get that wrong and your toast, sooner or later.

Who really cares the Sport is a shambles. Just look at the line up at Berwick last Sat. Just enjoy the racing while you have still got it.

Regarding stock cars. Back in the day when Brandon was alive & kicking they held F1 stock car meetings once per month. As did (and still do) Brafield. Should Brandon have new life breathed into it, you can be sure that the F1 promoters will bring Stoxs back to Brandon with no ill effects to attendance given the way they spread meetings over the month using both Saturday & Sundays. As for speedway, if promoted well, rather than suffer due to the existence of Northampton, the close proximity will be good for both clubs (and Leicester) due to local Derbies/rivalry.

I will tell you why most of the Speedway/Greyhound Stadia raced midweek, it was where Greyhounds owned the stadiums, Friday & Saturday were the nights where they would get most spectators through the gate, nowadays it's the live streaming to shops where the money is they aint bothered about spectators because it costs money to run stadiums for spectators, streaming a meeting costs very little by comparison and the income is greater.

For a first-season adaptation from a track used exclusively for stock cars they've done really well. I imagine there'll be more work done over the winter, should they be back next year.

I remember reading an article in the Speedway Express a few (several) decades ago about Japanese speedway. Barry Briggs was involved in bringing this form of the sport to peoples attention. Funny shaped handlebars and tarmac surfaces come to mind. But the main difference was the high level of betting involved. To the extent that riders were locked away for, I think, 24 hours before meetings to avoid anyone nobbling the competitors. Can't see that working over here.

Coventry introduced Greyhounds (1990's I think), rather than it being a Greyhound stadium.

Don't know about the others, but Hackney greyhounds ran on Thursday and Saturday nights, so there was no problem with "Make it a Date, Friday at Eight" for speedway.

As much as I agree, and I work in new build Construction, the council will not build on that side of the A22, its rural with lots of stables and no infrastructure in place for the area. Bob Dugard tried many years ago to sell the land for development, it just wont happen IMHO

They can still reach the play-offs.From 2nd to 5th it’s just 1 point difference. No one will beat Bydgoszcz but avoiding the play-downs is important as i’m not sure who is favourite to go down to National league from the play-downs. Pila perhaps ?

Doubt having the SWC Semi-final on the Friday followed by a SGP meeting on the Sat helped the track. Even with the track improvements with banking + the kerb moved to make an inside line possible the meeting was a procession on the most part. Always seem to remember Riga being pretty dire racing at the best of times. SGP came down to two gates and as the meeting came to its conclusion whoever had the inside gate. Gate three was an absolute graveyard.

On the average watch for next year, wouldn’t be completely surprised to see him back along the road next year. Of course would love him to stay.

Laguta leads his team to victory over Zmarzlik. That is a message to Bartosz. Laguta is basically saying your world titles are meaningless.

Another decent afternoons racing and considering it is free to watch, no one should really complain. Thanks to the guys who make the viewing happen and the riders who never give up as well as the supporters in the stadiums who really make it a spectacle. Look forward to the next round. Thanks

If they like the rule, they'll just change it so the top 9 (or 8 if no Workington) riders get split up, one per team. I'm pretty sure 8.00 was chosen as there were 9 riders above 8. Next year could be, each team picks a number one from this list: Pickering 10.39 Lawson 9.25 Wright 9.11 Masters 9.01 Klindt 8.81 Thompson 8.72 Jeppesen 8.45 Cook 8.39 Harris 8.29 Then if Klindt & Cook don't want to race in the Champ, add Howarth (if he comes back),Nicholls & Kildemand to the list, if Nicholls retires, then Flint is next in line. Could make the rule, no-one can sign a second heat leader, till every team has a number one?

Some thoughts on Friday. The racing wasn’t particularly great until the last few heats. Not much happening beyond the back straight of lap 1. This needs to change. You can’t keep charging folk £20+ to watch processions. For the Monarchs: I like Dan Thompson. However, something is really off with him at the moment. In the last 5 meetings, he’s won only 5 races out of 25. Unacceptable for any number 1 in any league. He was 5-1'd 5 times out of 6 at Poole. I can’t recall that happening to any Monarchs no.1, ever? He has also openly admitted to not always giving 100%. Now, this one shouldn’t come as a shock. It’s speedway after all. It also ties in with riders who say, “it’s the play offs, I try that little bit harder”. Here’s a thought – why are you quite obviously happy to cheat the public during the earlier part of the season? Young Thompson has so much talent and ability, he could quite easily score a minimum of 13 from 5 in every meeting. Any chance we can have the real DanT back please? Not-so-super Grahn continues to frustrate with his Flask-like performances. I was looking back at results yesterday. In his 1.5 years with the club, he’s lost to Freddy Hodder around 7 or 8 times. I got bored and lost count in all honesty. And yet, this is the same guy who can quite readily pop out the start and beat Chris Harris! And then there’s the conundrum that is Justin Sedgmen. Dreadfully p1ss poor scoring in both Glasgow meetings. I’d like to see heat 9 again. It was either a skelp from Leon Flint, missed by the ref, or one of the most extraordinary, and potentially dangerous, dives I’ve ever seen. A guy with his vast experience and having ridden countless laps around sunny Armadale, could he not have stayed on? Next up is everyone’s former favourite, Michele Castagna. Heat 14 was completely unacceptable on all levels. Absolutely no chance I’m putting my Benevolent Fund donation in his bucket. Good old Kye Thomson. He may have mucked up heat 15 and the super heat but we like Kye. He can stay. Talking of the super heat, why was the winning time not announced? I presume one was recorded? Surely this was a simple oversight and not another case of the paying punter being treated like second class citizens? Now to the reserves. A big hats off to Mitchell Cluff. His scoring has been way beyond ‘senior reserve’ levels recently, especially given his green sheet figure. More solid scoring in this one. Long may it continue. Again, like heat 9, I’d like to see heat 14 again. I wasn’t sure if there was contact between Mitchell and young Battye? It doesn’t appear to have raised any post-match comment, although that may be due more to the ending of that particular race than anything else! Finally, there is Vinnie Foord. The chap with the thankless task of replacing young Loftus. Poor lad spent that much time on his backside, I almost renamed him Vinnie Floored. For Glasgow: Chris Harris keeps reminding me why I still attend speedway. Heat 15 was something else. Not great from our two but sometimes you just have to doff your cap to superior opposition. Sam Hagon didn’t win heat 8. I seem to recall him winning at least 2 previously at sunny Armadale. I just expected him to grab his hat trick. Seems the tapes got in the way. Nick Morris. Wow. Best visitor this season by a country mile. KJP. I must say, I do like his first 2 initials. There should be more riders with those initials in speedway. Also, well done for catching a sleeping Cornetto in heat 14. Leon Flint looked lively throughout. He’s certainly improved this season. Freddy Hodder grabbed vital third places, as he always seems to do. Is he, perhaps, slightly underappreciated by the Tiggers’ faithful? Reid Battye had a steady sunny Armadale debut for his first 3 rides. Slightly less steady in his last 2 though. Roll on Friday... and, again, no more draws please.

I know this doesn't fit in with Blobby's usual 'Everyone is so mean to my beloved Edinburgh. They're all cheats' ranting. But to those interested in the truth. After an injury and a heart muscle strain, I now need to give my body the necessary time to recover. Additionally, I am currently dealing with a kidney stone. The examinations also revealed that my lumbar vertebrae L4 and L5 are misaligned or not optimally aligned, which in turn causes discomfort in the lower back. For me as a speedway driver, it is of course extremely bitter, not being able to stand on the bike right now. Nevertheless, my health comes first. Now it's time to consistently push through the next 6 weeks, rebuild my body, and do everything to come back stronger. 💪🏼 Now it's time to: stay patient, get healthy, and then go full throttle again. Thanks to everyone who supports me and stands behind me during this time. ❤️🏁 The comeback will start. 🔥 "

You could have just used the one word, Nothing!.

The funny thing is that speedway is a small world. Every one knows which riders sit in the back of their vans smoking rope, which ones take the Columbian marching powder, which ones who are generally “wrong un’s” and are to be avoided. it ain’t a goody goody clean sport, the promoters know too. if someone is willing to offer him a contract, more fool them.

Only required for capacities above 10,000 so this doesn't sound like a plausible reason

Tyres must be on the Homologation list & will be ordered prior to the event by the rider/team & fitted on race day at the allocated time, For practice any tyres can be used. As long as an engine meets the requirements within the current regulations there is no reason why a proto-type could not be used. Silencers as with tyres must be homologated, & the frame again if it conforms it can be used. Each rider can present 3 machines for race day but can only have two in their pit bay at any time, a third (spare) machine would need to be kept in the Parc Ferme area under the supervision of the Machine Examiner & can only be removed if replaced by another machine.
