Jody Scott is always great to watch. I enjoyed seeing him tonight and was very pleased to see him win heat one. He was the only away rider to knock a point off Bomber tonight and he did it by passing him twice. With so much attention on Cairns and Rushen, I really don’t think he gets the praise he’s due.

I wouldn't say Belle Vue are too strong at all. But we are suffering from the winter problems caused by the Ipswich/Chris Louis situation and the Northampton late start. Arguably Sheffield were stronger than Belle Vue, and were the favourites for the title pre-season. The difference is that Belle Vue moved quickly to replace the injured Dan Bewley while Sheffield didn't replace Jack Holder and have been running much weaker since his injury. Leicester could still finish top of the league above Belle Vue if they replicate their "A" fixture wins at Ipswich and King's Lynn. King's Lynn are a solid side, with a GP no.1, who pushed Belle Vue all the way at the NSS last week, but don't seem to be getting on with their home track (King's Lynn used to be one of the absolute best, what has gone wrong with preparation these days?) Ipswich were done dirty by Louis, but with the new owners, they won't be this weak next year. Northampton of course were badly hindered by the late start and having to start from scratch. But they have a good set-up, decent crowds, and have had EIGHT matches which they have drawn or lost by less than 6 points. It wouldn't take much to turn them around into wins and they'd be quite successful. So certainly nothing is as black as is being painted here. Let's get a good ITV deal, get back Coventry, Swindon, etc, and build everyone up to the Belle Vue/Sheffield level. Let's not be negative and start weakening.

My take was fine thanks. I've been to Ashfield regularly and while the racing is often better, your summary here is hyperbolic to say the least. I think many of us tire of being patronised about 'good racing' and what tracks should be like. There's a very Glaswegian trait of requiring validation and praise (Celtic fans being the worst) and i think we see a bit of it here from some Tigers fans with regards Ashfield.

there's some strange posts on this subject, it beggars belief that something so positive receives so many negative posts. Will Saturday nights showing change the face of speedway, of course not....having it on a "normal tv" is real positive as opposed to just a speedway club stream(no offence to club streams!). There are far more positives than negatives to come out of this. Bravo to all concerned in making this happen.

Yes as I suspected that’s the final nail in Redcars season , the match kind of portrayed the whole season lack of top end strength at the business end of the season , a team full of middle order riders prepared to plod on. Like some of these posts I agree that the only two riders exempt are wright and Scott , wright whose season was destroyed in the first meet (stop this stupid curtain raiser with Newcastle, they don’t exist ) and Scott the only rider to show any improvement from last season , the no two 8 point rider rule screwed us over and we seemed to be the only side to suffer but nevertheless Jake Allan has been a very very poor substitute for Danny king. Apart from a total collapse at Berwick at least we have a BSN final to look forward to but if it’s Poole ( the competition has dragged on that long ) I don’t fancy our chances. Hey ho the footy season starts tomorrow, perhaps my other team ‘The Boro’ can do us proud and bring the region the success it so richly deserves. Lick your wounds Redcar and be more creative with team building next year instead of the same same old , it’s not working or improving. Take a punt like Scunthorpe did.

For anyone on Twitter ITV Sport have posted about showing the final on Saturday evening. They do take notice of posts/shares etc on social media so a few extra positive comments wouldn't go amiss.

Now that Northampton have proved themselves with very good attendances, not so much with the results on the track though, hopefully, the promoters will invest in a much better team for next season. Last nights attendance was the biggest since the opening night I reckon. It was an embarrassing result but overall this season has, so far, been a success for interest and crowds with an impressive local hardcore of support being established. To a point, I think that people are making allowances for the fact that it’s the first season with a late start but next season I don’t think that they may be so forgiving. I am still enjoying having a team to support and the whole race night experience after a good few years away from watching live Speedway, plus, the fact that it has all been a big one in the eye for the cynics who were saying and I think, weirdly, hoping that two men and their dog would be the only ones attending!

Belle Vue are far too strong, it really shouldn’t have been allowed. BUT, I’m happy for their supporters as they endured many seasons of crap at the old stadium, they really deserve to have some time in the sun, they’ve earned it. However, changes to rules are desperately needed for 2027 to make the league a more even playing field and thus a better spectacle.

It should be allowed that a team can sign Brady 7.50 Max 4.50 Jaimon 4.00 Norick 4.00 Tate 4.50 Dan 3.00 Tom last pick RS (if you don’t get that opportunity then just promote a rider from your Colts, sorry junior team). then work with them to see them grow and improve with the club. Fans then identify more strongly with their team and are less likely to drift off. If more teams did this the whole sport in the UK would be in a much stronger place. They don’t because they don’t need to as other club(s) have to continually off load their stars. We have a level playing field, it’s called the (ever reducing) points limit. It’s been said it’s crazy that The Aces have two GP riders at the top but they didn’t last night and it was the team as a whole that did the business. We often got berated for keeping Norick, Tate, etc but as soon as they come good the complaint is you are too strong. Have a look back at the prediction thread on here and you will find very few had The Aces as winners but now we are producing the goods we are suddenly too strong - with hindsight. It’s a sign of the times that people will continually bleat about their predicament whilst doing nothing to improve their lot and just sit around waiting for handouts.

There isn't a home track advantage anymore but you are right in your 2nd point. The track WAS excellent, now you get the occasional good meeting. It's boring, in my opinion, more often than not. I doubt there will ever be a track reconstruction so it's what we have until the end. Does this mean there is no enjoyment from going to Armadale, no it doesn't. But perspective is needed. Is Glasgow incredible all the time? No. But the potential is there every time and its a superb track.

Nothing to be bitter about. It's just a little weary and largely wide of the mark suggesting that Edinburgh fans only show up for a successful team and don't care about the racing on show. Edinburgh speedway fans are the same as Glasgow speedway fans who are the same as Berwick speedway fans, Workington speedway fans etc etc. You get my drift.

Here we go. We're all supposed to believe that Glasgow fans appreciate 'good racing' more than the rest of us and show up in their droves to appreciate it win, lose or draw. Connoisseurs who are treated to excellent speedway every week at Ashfield. Self-indulgent pish.

I understand and agree but with so few opportunities to get the sport on a main stream terrestrial channel at one of the best tracks in the country is not something that comes along every day. Someone somewhere has been pulling some strings because the current incumbents controlling the sport have failed miserably for years to achieve this so who ever has got the sport to this point is to be applauded. No it won’t solve all the problems and as long as the sport is self governed by those who cannot see beyond the business model which has not worked for years, it will not change overnight. However if this can be used to showcase not just UK speedway but European speedway and yes it might be banging the old drum but put a top flight league meeting from Poland on and you possibly have the makings of a revival of interest. Imagine if one or two clubs were allowed to compete in Polish league racing. Speedway UK needs an injection of good fortune and a kick up the arse. This might just be the start.

A golden opportunity was wasted by not using Tai to appeal to potential future supporters, the younger generation. They can relate to him definitely. I took my daughters to Belle Vue to see Great Britain in the World Cup a few years ago and he immediately grabbed their attention . They’d never been before but he stood out a mile to them. They still ask about him now. I think he could have inspired younger newcomers to the sport. Whatever he does, he’ll succeed. Definitely.

What abuse have you seen? These individuals have destroyed a 90 year old stadium with no planning permission. Some peoples emotions are going to be highly charged. Some comments are bound to be a bit fruity and you're very naive if you think that's abuse. No council or planning inspector will take notice of any social media post. This will be decided on evidence in regards to planning laws. You're an absolute hypocrite as well. How about I come and build a padel court in your back garden with no planning permission? Haven't we all built to the same team average???? Maybe we're just a. Better run club than others with good facilities for the riders, good atmosphere, hot showers, paid on time, track prepared well week in week out. All them little things make the perfect storm

The article in the Speedway Star outlined many reason why this "can't" happen. For example, there is no FIM rule that allows competitors to compete under a neutral flag. My immediate thought was, "Well change the rules". To be fair, it wouldn't all be simple. But if the will is there, it could happen.

Spot on having two top five world class riders put them a country mile ahead from the get go plus as you say the majority of the other teams weaker/much weaker than in 2025. You would hope people would be happy to see the likes of Kurtz and Bewley more so as it looks like Dan won't be doing UK in 2027.

The trouble with fans on here is that you do not understand the minds of those who run the sport. Any rule implemented is followed by the clause " unless of course we change our minds or it does not suit one of the members /fellow promoters or any other reason we can think of ", of course any reason given does not concern the fans because they do not need to know because we are the rulers and they are here just to hand over there hard earned each week. Mind you if Richard and Tom had not raced for the Tigers last night I think the score would be closer to the maximum 75-15

Totally agree Mike, you can see how much the standard has fallen when you look at the quality of the British Final, Lambert apart from the Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons at Brandon. And as the standard has fallen the prices have gone up, as more fans walk away it will keep increasing to make up the downfall till even the die hard fans walk away, as have many this season when you look at attendences around the tracks.

Love it or hate it, Flat track is a growing sport & the only one that is under the Track Racing banner. It is bringing more riders from all over the World that have experience in different disciplines of Motorcycle racing & in turn manufactures are becoming interested & I suspect we are not far away from Factory teams at the highest level. It will take time to bring in public support as it is a new sport for many & the riders are not from the higher end of their previous endevours. In the FIME event mentioned Tom Woolley will be remembered for a spell in the NDL & in the FIM championship Ashton Boughen made it to the Premiership as a rising star & was a top Moto X racer. When teams start to establish their selves more money will be available to produce race bikes available off the shelf ready to race at club level & i feel Flat Track will grow & possibly stage events alongside the SGP as SGP2 have already done

A "perfect storm" this season... The Aces kept two out of the world's top three, and the loyalty shown to Blodorn, Cook and Zischke is paying its dividends, and having one of the best RS's is an obvious plus... Sheffield lost Holder and didnt replace him, Leicester chose not to go with Fricke and didnt replace him like for like, and Ipswich lost Sayfutidinov and Doyle, and also couldn't replace them LFL... Northampton cobbled together a team due to the short notice and, of a level that the obvious understandable uncertainty around crowd numbers reflected,, and KL didn't maximise having Fricke... Signing Kurtz and Bewley also meant the opportunity to bring in very good riders to replace them when missing... Keeping that team together next season sadly won't happen, but, like any and every year, it really should, as dumbing down each season doesn't push the standard forwards..

And the name of the league itself. Development League!! Maybe Lambert and Kennett are slow burners!!

They could also spend a serious amount of money adapting the track, laying drainage etc then be given notice.

If Northampton race next season (no reason why they won't), I think they should be allocated the British Final. Becoming pretty stale at BV and a new venue, next year at least, is required. Promote it big time with a Wednesday or Saturday meeting and I think it could be a big success.

What a lovely coincidence that the article is written by Phil Lanning, the son of Dave who for many was the voice of speedway on TV and who introduced darts to the TV world and now is son, is the Suns dart correspondent the very same newspaper for whom his dad was the speedway correspondent. Great to see speedway back on terrestrial TV.

Really simple this one lose and season is over win play off hopes still alive, unfortunately can’t see us winning.

I take my grandson go karting at Rye House regularly and each time I do, I look in on the Speedway stadium with a mixture of sadness, nostalgia and anger. I spent many a happy Sunday afternoon watching some great racing. Its criminal what has been allowed to happen under the noses of my local council.

think thats the team managers job saying that he is rubbish at picking guests but its not good for the paying public to have a team short of two riders , tigers will get no where in the playoffs so it would be better to test a new rider or two for next years team instead of bringing in two new riders like this year

its got a whole lot more professional since then ,, riders don't have time for the plebs who pay their wages anymore ... some are so selfish they don't even do the victory parades because their vans are loaded and off to Poland . I've even seen one refuse to do heat 15 in case he missed his flight
