I think Flint has to be in after his British Final showing and score last night. I'd probably go Wright and Ellis as the other two. We are coming fourth whatever in all likelihood but its too early to be throwing youngsters in 'for the experience'.

No, he did not fall. He was excluded when Norick Blodorn fell, as there was a little bit of contact when Wright made an inside pass going into the third bend on lap one. Bit harsh to be excluded for that, but probably the right decision. Wright had failed to score a point in heat one, and after the exclusion in his secodn race, the Gorzow team manager substituted Wright in his other two rides. Tough on him, I'd say. He was certainly not outclassed in this competition.

The boundary of Bournemouth literally starts 5 miles away from the track so I think it should be pretty relevant, given there's another 200k people living there. If you add the nearby towns to Workington which are further away, you'll be adding 8k (Cockermouth) 24k (Whitehaven) and 10k (Maryport) if you use the whole west coast of Cumbria. I think it's nonsense that it's to suggest Workington have low crowds, crowds are what i'd expect given our catchment area tbh. There was less at Scunthorpe on Friday night than what Workington get. Also success does not equal level of crowds either, you could argue there was less going to Derwent Park when we won the Championship treble in 2018. If Workington get 800 one meeting and Poole get 2000 for example, there is about 1 in 172 people attending Speedway on the South Coast, and 1 in 83 attending in West Cumbria, and that's covering 4 towns.

Depends on your definition of boring. Season after season of gate and go but some fireworks and a shiny trophy at the end of each season, or season after season of meetings with most meetings worthy of season finale standard? Your trophy cabinet might be bursting but your track is far from anything to be proud of. Success at the cost of the sports integrity.

Think you need to worry more about your own club than ours.

Absolute speedway heritage. You can't have a simple opinion on the sport without first having been a rider/promoter/organiser/anyone of any self-perceived importance (delete as applicable). The guy makes a perfectly reasonable point. In fact, they don't even criticise the line up, just that they're disappointed it's not better. This is basically a farewell to one of Britain's best ever riders, I don't think it's unreasonable to have expected a better line up - regardless of whether you're running the meeting, the burger van, or nothing at all.

Would've certainly made the play-offs with the way the team has held up all season when you've either been missing Holder or Thomsen.

He was only given just half a chance to prove himself, I would not so easily judge him outclassed in this competition.

He was miles off it in his first heat and he was last again in his second heat fighting for 3rd with a dive bomb, harshly excluded if agree but deffo outclassed in this competition.

One point away from 5th. Dam that was a close match ! If Holder was in the team they would have had a real chance at play offs.

Cairns and Rushen have their foot in the door and appear to have the right contacts.They will need too improve quickly to stay in contention though.Dan Thompson has struggle with injury most of last season and this season but is still young if he can recover his confidence.All the other British talent are along way off age wise.IMO.

Which is exactly why, if we want GB to be successful, we need our youngsters over in Poland as soon as possible and being part of their club set up, like Cairns and Rushen. Given time their improvement will be enormous as long as they get rides, the U24 league and training sessions will be important as well as first team opportunities. If that means ditching our Championship in 2027 then so be it. Cairns will have learned much more in one meeting gor ZG than anything he has done for Poole this season. The next 2-3 years are critical in their development, look how that crop of young Danes have come on with the correct treatment. Thompson and Brennan unfortunately seem to have missed the boat now and are suffering from being left on the sidelines in Poland, hopefully Flint might get picked up for 2027 (I believe he has one U24 left?) by a Polish club in the top two tiers as has shown glimpses this season of breaking through. There needs to be a plan for the next crop as our three leagues don't work on their own, its been said for years but our youngsters need much more exposure to the big, slick, fast circuits and all that that involves.

To be fair to the GB lads, there is a world of difference in the intensity level required of young Polish riders coming through... It is more akin to Academy's in Football over here, whereby non stop scrutiny and pressure is part and parcel of their development growth... Over here, anyone with even a modicum of capability to ride a Speedway bike can be in tier one very quickly at reserve, and tier two as a Second String, or even a Heat Leader.. With neither league over here having anywhere near the same level of expectation and pressure... Basically, you can have a job for decades in the UK by being distinctly average for every single year of that career.. These lads need to test themselves against the best, and quickly, as the talent pool in Poland keeps riders of a very decent level constantly coming through, (with Denmark also looking like they have found a fair few potential top level riders in the future).. The bottom line is, the UK is more an opportunity to earn money riding your Speedway bike, rather than being something that has relevance and prestige like it has in Poland... In Poland "winning" is the most important thing, and the UK lads need to learn that mentality... Some, over here, seem quite content just being a Speedway Rider...

When you say the population of the Poole area is the same as Cumbria, you must be including your sheep as well right? Also worth noting that Poole has many fans travelling a fair distance for meetings, hence why the recent closure of the A31 was an issue for some.

But that cannot be the total answer, we get big crowds because when we win, the Fords are winners, they dont accept failure. It has happened throughout their history whichever league we were in. Their passion for the Poole team rubs off on everyone. I do not think we would have had the success we have had without that winning mentality. Workington may not have the fanbase Poole have and the population in the locality maybe smaller but you must also come to the conclusion if they were winning and at the other end of the table, more people would attend.

Well it did rain for 2 hours mid afternoon and that is where the water drains down to. Both teams walked the track so knew what the conditions were like. We get it you don't like Scorpions with your usual bad mouthing, but we don't mind as we won and got the aggregate point! Play offs here we come.

I can’t speak to the rest of it but the crowd numbers at Berwick have looked to be a lot better than last year and very consistent, it’s been busy and a great atmosphere all year. The Berwick social media team have been doing a good job and it really helps that we have been unbeaten at home so far. And have made it to the latter stages of two competitions. I’ve absolutely 0 knowledge of the financial situation of the bandits but the attendance has been good and most in the crowd seem pretty upbeat and positive.

Not the first time.These capitulations have been happening for the last few years.Many times the Bears have been in good positions to win matches and then just fall apart.Too many inconsistent riders,sticking with them every season and bad team changes.I think they need to look at who is being allowed to make these decisions?

Would agree reality check is not the right word.We are just not good enough,but no doubt 3rd Place will be a “wonderful” result as usual.

Redcar must have serious questions for their riders, they've just been beaten by what was virtually a three man Berwick team.

The GB side really need to have some serious training installed into them and some competitive racing attitude rather than being also rans. The Polish riders seemingly are chasing every point, are disciplined and have a commitment which simply does not exist within the GB camp. Just watch Polish speedway at every level and the commitment at every level chasing points and the appetite to succeed versus the let’s turn up and ride attitude that is predominate in the UK. Time not only for an independent body to run UK speedway but time for someone to get a grip on the entire structure and introduce changes at multiple levels so that the next generation of riders can shine.

Yep it is painful but at least they get to practice on a foreign track. Blame the UK domestic race scene for the lack of skill sets. Those in charge hardly encourage the next generation of riders, those who watch the sport rarely stick around and do nothing to encourage riders honing their skills and overall this must have an impact on the youngsters who clearly do have the skills but the system deprives them of track time and proper compete racing. The days of encouraging riders with meaningful second half meets and guaranteed rides have long gone because those who run clubs are looking through the wrong end of a telescope. Think about it.

So like Glasgow , another away victory tossed away by Redcar in the closing stages of the meeting at Berwick last night , tale of the season no strength in the latter part of the season. The fact no one else but me has mentioned means most fans have already written the season off.
