Would that of been the reason the start marshall stood in a dangerous position to hold the broken tapes back the other season when Poole riders were in the lead because the ref told him to via his headset.5 points

Well, if the shoe fits, Arthur. You’ve had a cheating incident as recently as your last meeting. You’ve also got a Rushen riding for you. No-one else has been allowed one since the Ukraine war.4 points

Small part of an interview with Jamie Courtney on BBC Radio Oxford lunchtime news today. He confirms its Championship for Oxford in 2027. Full interview will be on the Heat 16 podcast at 6pm tonight. You can listen again afterwards on BBC Sounds.4 points

Racing is only a small part of it though. The racing in the 70's was no better than now and if it was just what happens on track then Workington, Scunthorpe, Glasgow and BV would be bursting at the seams for every meeting. It's a jigsaw puzzle with loads of bits missing - irregular meetings, doubling up, guests, flimsy call offs, lack of variety, poor presentation, no atmosphere. Most people will want a professionally presented, VFM, enjoyable night out and that really shouldn't be difficult to deliver.4 points

We’ve been putting our case forward since closure. They are aware of this, some councillors desperately want us to naff off, we’re not going anywhere. If anything our case is getting stronger. I can’t wait to speak in front of a proper independent knowledgeable government planning inspector, our council are going to get their backsides kicked hard. They have massively under estimated us and our supporters who I must say have been magnificent throughout this process. I am more confident now since closure that Speedway will return to Peterborough.4 points

Your head would be turned if offered an Extraleague Position late in your career (provided he gets paid). If sitting in the pits pays more than 5rides a meeting in GB good luck to him. Charles is a 100% rider and wish him well whatever comes up.3 points

Update from Freddie Hodder A little update from me. I suffered a broken femur in the crash and underwent surgery last night. The focus turns completely to recovering and getting myself back to full fitness. It’s obviously a tough one to take, especially after what had been a positive season, but I’ll be doing everything I can to come back stronger. A massive thank you to Leon Flint, Luboš Vráček, my dad and everyone else who has helped and supported me. It genuinely means a lot.3 points

If that’s the case, we need to throw a Neymar-like deal at him. And by that, I mean we do what Barca did and send a lap dancer to his dad’s house at least one every week. @phillwhitewasmad Don’t worry, we’ve got you.2 points

You may not like it but plenty do including 7 times British champion and quite a few top riders at championship level. British speedway can ill afford to lose any track despite your opinion.2 points

Agreed Mike if I was ever a promoter my first job would be to get a survey put together for past fans to complete as to why they no longer go, granted we can guess most of the reasons but I bet there's a host of others to. The big challenge at the moment is even if you came in as a new promoter with say 200k you could burn through in a season without blinking, you put together an attractive side , you move fast to get quality replacements for long term injuries etc you know in the current environment visiting teams will be turning up every other week with 1-2 riders missing, r/r etc. So somehow its not enough to have 2-3 forward looking promoters you need every single one to agree to level up.2 points

At 24 Kvech is still a youngster in GP terms which would make him my preferred choice.2 points

People are too woke to handle a bit of banter, needle and wind up these days. Hence why Comedians aren't allowed to speak the truth during their gigs anymore.2 points

That is absolutely awful from Plymouth.😂 I’m laughing, but that’s so poor. It’s the biggest meeting of the season and Gladiators’ fans will already be gutted about the first leg, but instead of a galvanising article, it’s: we need £46K or you’ll have no speedway next season. What a prospect, walking into the Coliseum; about a 2% chance of winning the trophy and faced with the prospect this will be the last meeting at Plymouth. P*ss poor from the powers that be at Plymouth and a prime example of why British speedway is in the state it’s in. In other sports, sensibility prevails. In British speedway, it doesn’t. Remarkable that’s been given the green light for release. At least two grown adults have read that and thought “yeah, that’ll do”.2 points

Laguta is not in the GP series. So Ipswich have a great chance of bringing him over. If Richard Coleman pulls this off, I will be travelling from Peterborough for every home meeting.1 point

Glad to see we have got them worried already! Although should get a guest in for Palm Toft really. He only got 2 and 1 on both visits this season.1 point

Poole would be cheating if it was them, but nothing will be said about this1 point
-
No. Both of those are sensible signings. If it’s say 34 points for a top five with two U21’s at reserve, you can then still add two eight pointers for a powerful one and five, and still have room for another six pointer to slot in at two.1 point

You beat me to it! Wroclaw connection, 6.06 average is hardly a risk either. Would slot in the middle order.1 point

I think the biggest problem is providing a track that promotes and encourages racing, several racing lines and enough grip to enable riders to actually race and overtake others. Most tracks either cannot be bothered or haven’t got the skill to do the job, poorly prepared tracks that are not properly watered and offer no grip or different lines and just provide tracks that are effectively a gating exercise with little or little chance of passing or entertainment. Local tracks to me Kings Lynn and Northampton are classic examples and Ipswich isn’t much better but offers much better viewing and at least free seats to all. If the spectacle is exciting and entertaining it will attract supporters, if it isn’t and just provides boring processional gate and go with smelly toilets and lots of tractor racing it morphs into just another Kings Lynn and nobody bothers to go.1 point

Thomsen & Bednar (R) confirmed they were staying with Gorzow. Bydgoszcz likely to sign Douglas, Fricke, Wozniak, Przyjemski (U24), Pawełczak (R) and trying to sign Bastian Pedersen (R). Lindgren to Grudziądz. That is all I have read so far but I've not been scouring sportowefakty I'm sure there is more on there if someone cares to look.1 point

Anyone else notice the forum is struggling recently? Trying to access the forum on a mobile phone is close to impossible as adverts appear and it becomes very slow. And this evening, the website was totally not functional. I'm not an expert on server costs, but should the forum introduce some sort of membership scheme, where we can help pay the costs for running this website?1 point

I agree. It should be Artem, his brother and two of his cousins who make up the 4. Emil at first reserve1 point

Yes. As far as I'm aware the only reason they are closed for speedway is the requirement for stewards. They are open when car racing is on.1 point

Back in the 70’s, a time in history when football hooliganism at matches was rife and speedway was the “family sport” (a phrase coined because of the nature of the fans behaviour which meant folk could attend meetings without fear) on track rivalry was fierce and indeed fans were tribal. Lots of chanting, massive amounts of loud cheering for both individual riders and respective teams. Rivalry was fierce and the anticipation of respective number ones going against each other raised both the tension and the noise in the stadium. And yes the racing was every bit a good as today. Coleman is absolutely right, rivalry & tribalism should absolutely be part of the experience, something that will add to the means of attracting returning or new supporters. Something the current sterile situation evidentially fails to do.1 point

Strong rumour Harrison will not be in next year. Hook and Ablitt not good enough. Mountain can do better. The enigma that is MPT, poor for two thirds of season and very good in last 3rd of season. Picko would like to come back, but depends on other demands i.e. Poland. Ryan Ingram only 16 and has done well in his first year, keep him. More concerning is the year after, when both Rob Godfrey and David Howe step down and who takes over the whole business1 point
-
The best of luck to Plymouth, but why wait til the last meeting to make an appeal? Surely this should have been an all season effort....1 point
-
I would've said similar...until my club shut down. Watching a very good meeting as a neutral is good, but watching an average meeting in a stadium with 20k people and an electric atmosphere is miles better. People absolutely care about it.1 point
