Gutted tbh, the lads gave everything and we’ve had a remarkable season for a team ‘destined to be bottom’ its sad really that over two legs, poor officiating is talked about and key shock moments, like mpt in heat 14, won’t be in the limelight it should be9 points

Gutted for Scunthorpe. Had no right being in that final, but dug so deep to achieve it, only to be outright cheated twice. Stevie Wonder could see that Cook’s wheels were over the white line, but hats not up for debate is Cairns’ warming his tyres on live TV in the first leg. If the rules are applied correctly and Scunthorpe aren’t cheated, it doesn’t even go to a race-off last night. As if British speedway isn’t in enough of a mess, we’ve now compromised its integrity.9 points

I stopped reading at "I was charged with distributing content of an underage female." It's funny how perverts like you always have a bunch of excuses and reasons why shouldn't be labelled with the crime they committed. You're no better than SCB and the acts you committed are deplorable. F**k off back under the rock you came from and never come on this forum again.6 points

Fair play too scunny, i would wager about 1 in 100 would have given em a look in over 2 legs , great effort.5 points

Funny, I'm yet to see one Poole fan say "Do you know what, he could have been over the line, we might have got way with one there..." Thing is, there was one in the first leg as well, which if it had been punished (and it should have been because there was absolutely no doubt about that one!) then a Super Heat wouldn't have been needed and this conversation wouldn't be happening.4 points

I write this as a neutral, I am not Poole fan, or a Scunthorpe fan, I am Arena Essex, Poole have a history of getting away with things, but Godfrey is no angel either, he was a small part of the reason why the Hammers went out of business. Anyway I digress Video evidence has been used at speedway for some time now and any good referee would have watched that raced and noted down the fact that they might have to look again at the footage before declaring a result. There is no way you could call it in real time whether Cook’s rear tyre had crossed the line or not, it needed to be examined. The ref looked at it afterwards but only after being prompted too by David Howe, and then I suspect they would have only changed their minds had it been like with footballs VAR, not just a error, but a clear and obvious one, had speedway had someone in the pits acting as a overseer then they would not be able to overrule the decision because of that fact, some angles it did others were not conclusive. I think Poole did deserve to be champions but not because of what happened on the night but the fact they finished top of the table. Certainly last night I don’t think Poole cheated, they had a close call which could have gone against them but Zack didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, heck I recall years ago it was something of a in joke that Mick Poole would spend most of the season on the grass at the showground, he was famous for it. In summary, the ref could have handled it a lot better, the refereeing standards as a whole in this country have been very poor to put it nicely.3 points

If his back wheel is ON the line and that makes it ok then the rule needs changing. Surely no wheels should cross the line? Didnt tracks used to be required to have a raised kerb? The rule should be that both wheels stay on the track. I have never seen anyone put their front wheel that far onto the grass.3 points

The difference was the police did their job properly in one conviction and not the other but the point I’m making is there are many less than perfect people riding speedway past and present and it’s always been like that, garrity is possibly destined for more crime or jail time unless he can get a purpose for life, speedway is that purpose whether you like it or not3 points
-
Take your blinkers off you can't see any white line where his tyre is as he is inside it. Never have liked this rule, shouldn't have any wheels over the white line, not part of track IMO3 points

I’ve always detested your posts on here with your pompous, “I know better than everyone” and “Poole can do no wrong” attitude. After reading this though, I not only detest you but am now sickened by you despite your so called “honesty” of your lengthy involvement in the pornographic “industry” and subsequent convictions. I’m so happy to hear that you made enough money from that despicable method to provide you and your daughter with a good life. What about the people’s daughters from whom you benefited ??? Honestly, If I were in your shoes, I would be keeping a low profile instead of continually mouthing off on here like butter wouldn’t melt in your mouth.3 points

I’m a neutral and think it was not as obvious that the whole wheel went over the line as some make out(if it did is was very short angled )it was close call the ref had to make and it went against Scunny .Could have gone either way IMO.Pity the controversy end what was a good contest between the Teams. The Ref was on hiding to nothing.IMO Some great overtaking on a track that a lot of fans say can’t be done.🤔3 points

This may well be the most disturbing thing I’ve ever read on an internet forum. I almost feel sick. You need removed from this forum.3 points

So you directed porn movies? The article Pinny shared said you admitted to breaching SPHO. How does having cleaning apps on your mobile constitute a breach? Also, I’ll ask again and it’s now an incredibly important factor, given you’ve been charged with sexual harm offences: why would you reach out to a convicted paedophile after their conviction?3 points
-
Why is it a stupid comparison? https://www.timesandstar.co.uk/news/23205865.cleator-moor-man-accused-strangling-partner-case-dismissed/ both seem to be troubled men with substance abuse possibly behind their actions, unfortunately there are criminals and unsavoury types in all walks of life and speedway isn’t immune to that3 points
-
You reached out to a convicted paedophile following his conviction and think there’s nothing wrong with that? This has turned very, very dark.3 points

I knew him from Newport Speedway. Never once socialized with him outside a speed way meeting. He helped me with website stuff when I was a kid . Haven't spoken to him once since finding out he was a paedo and never would. If I ever seen him I would bash the sick, twisted, freaks head in. Make no mistake about that. Everyone knew he was an odd ball but had no idea about his ways . He was always known as an anorak. Ask anyone else who knew him like Alan, Matt Davis etc. You have spoken to him since finding out he was a paedo and liked posts of his on here etc. Believing a paedo deserves a chance to change their life shows what a wrong un you are. Thats without the other stuff you have been charged with in the past.3 points

There's no reason on this earth why Jason shouldn't be allowed to resume his racing career, he's done the crime and done the time. he should be given the chance to make amends. if you don't want to go to see him don't go, simple as that, but am afraid you'll be in the minority.3 points

From being a dominant force in the top flight all the way to cheating in a tin pot League. Poole's decline is generational.3 points

And maybe the fact a lot of the keyboard warriors on here wouldn't say most of the nasty stuff to his face gives a true indication to their characters? I am in no way defending the actions and crimes of Mr Garrity. They were truly deplorable and he deserved what he got. He does deserve another go though if he has finally grown up and got his sh*t together. I can only go by the young Jason I knew when I was involved at Coventry. He could be a very naughty boy when it suited him but he was also a really nice kid as well with a cracking sense of humour and was brilliant with the fans especially pre meeting in the pits. Unfortunately as usually happens in Speedway he was quickly hyped up and became surrounded with yes men and hangers on and that did go to his head. Inside Jason there is that nice kid. Hopefully as he matures he will atone his sins, give back to society and surround himself with the right people.3 points

What a horrible and sad way to end an incredibly exciting climax to the league. Scunthorpe were clearly robbed by another joke of a decision by a referee. Paul Carrington bottled it and wanted to leave Wimborne Road in one piece. Unfortunately all it does is bring the sport into disrepute and British speedway loses even more integrity which it can ill afford to do at present. This is just another of a long line of absolute clangers being pulled by referees who either need more training or more help. It’s also hot on the heels of Christina Turnbull’s decision to let a heat go ahead last night when the riders were clearly in the wrong gates. It just looks amateurish. Scunthorpe are champions in my eyes. They put up a fabulous rearguard action to take it to the Super Heat led by Picko who has been on another level this season. For me, they DID pull off the impossible.3 points

Did you read the story ? And what if garrity took the rap for someone else which I don’t know if he did or not but it’s certainly been a story floating around since he went inside and another story floating around is he already has a team place in the prem for next season, I don’t know if that true either but if you don’t like the fact he will be back in British speedway then don’t go and watch when he rides2 points

It certainly looks like part of the back wheel "could" be on the line, therefore even using Speedways equivalent to VAR the decision wouldn't have been overturned..2 points

As a neutral I thought last night's meeting was a great advert for speedway. Maybe not much in the way of passing but plenty of incidents, controversy etc. Isn't this what we all want? Provided lots of debate, talking points as this thread has clearly shown. Was actually rooting for Scunthorpe and I have to hold my hand up and admit I was one of those who thought they had no chance at the beginning of the season. So well done to them and a fab effort. Poole do what Poole do and all credit to them for that. Very professional outfit, large raucous crowd and riders seem to love being in their team. In reality, Scunthorpe were the losers but the winner in my view was definitely speedway.2 points

Well I had a great night, no signs of a decline here in Poole. If only the Pirates would move back up to the Ultimate league, you know the one with a handful of star riders but predominantly Championship regulars?2 points

Who in their right mind would confront a guy who has been convicted of robbing two OAP's , one which was bed bound & another that needed a little scooter to help her get about? Don't forget that he was also convicted for carrying a knife during these attacks. He doesn't sound like " a really nice kid"to me2 points

We need more pictures all the way round that bend. Not just in one spot. Do that and you may be believed. Otherwise you’re grasping at straws2 points

Well even chat gpt says the photo isnt enough evidence to exclude him. 🤷♀️2 points

Well 40 minutes from the meeting end no pilots fans have been on celebrating, maybe they are embarrassed by calling themselves champions by cheating in both legs of the final 😜2 points

Loads of respect for the way Pickering handled that last interview as well. He was clearly livid (as anybody in his position would be), yet stayed pretty calm and professional.2 points

Disagree wholeheartedly Dean. Failure to apply the rules as intended is cheating. Compromising the integrity of the sport does not render it “the winner”.2 points

Back on the 30th of January, I posted on here about making the Eddie Wright Raceway my regular track after moving to Lincolnshire. I said back then “Regardless of where we finish in the league, I’m massively looking forward to the new season. Let’s get behind the lads and hopefully spring a surprise or two” after being written off. Well, look where we are tonight. Whatever happens at Wimborne Road in the second leg, Scunthorpe have had an absolutely brilliant season. Taking an eight-point lead into the Grand Final decider against a side like Poole is massive credit to every single rider, promoter, and volunteer at the club. Do I think they will pull it off tonight? Hand on heart, probably not. We all know how tough Wimborne Road is and how well Poole are around their own patch. In fact, it’s one of the biggest frustrations in British speedway for me right now: every year it feels like a foregone conclusion. You can pretty much pencil in the league winners before a wheel turns, and the entire championship boils down to “who earns the right to get beaten over two legs by Poole.” If the Pirates overturn the deficit and lift the trophy again, nobody will be shocked. But that shouldn't take an ounce of shine off what Scunny have achieved. I’ll be following tonight with everything crossed and if they do it, it’ll be one of the best nights in the club's history. But even if Poole do what Poole usually do, the Scorpions will still be winners having proved pretty much everyone wrong.2 points

They need to get this one called off now, but i fear they will bundle everyone in and wait for it to rain and call it then1 point

They should. There is clear video evidence of not only Cook crossing the white line tonight, but Cairns warming his tyres at Scunthorpe last week. Had he been excluded - as was the absolute correct decision - the tonight doesn’t go to a super heat; Scunthorpe are champions after fifteen heats. Only in speedway, could the underdog be cheated.1 point
