Firstly best of luck to Plymouth, really hope they can come to the tapes in 2027 as we can ill afford to lose any more teams, particularly in the South. However I do have a genuine question, why have they waited so long to start and appeal as they appear to be up against it now with only 3-4 weeks to raise the money by the deadline. Have they only just found out they needed to replace the fence? Only asking as if theyād had the whole season to request donations then Iād have been happy to chip in monthly for example.5 points

I think that BSPL insist that the air fence is no more than 10 years old, worky had to get a new air fence as the old one ex scunny was out of date, but I think in this financial climate the fence should have an MOT type test done every season, and clubs could get a couple more years out of them.3 points

If his back wheel is ON the line and that makes it ok then the rule needs changing. Surely no wheels should cross the line? Didnt tracks used to be required to have a raised kerb? The rule should be that both wheels stay on the track. I have never seen anyone put their front wheel that far onto the grass.2 points

The difference was the police did their job properly in one conviction and not the other but the point Iām making is there are many less than perfect people riding speedway past and present and itās always been like that, garrity is possibly destined for more crime or jail time unless he can get a purpose for life, speedway is that purpose whether you like it or not2 points

Iām going to be as plain as I can be and try to be as unbiased as possible rule 012.1.11 a ride whose machine crosses the inner edge of the track with 2 wheels must be disqualified. 05.1.4 infield a) a continuous line to define the inner edge of the track circuit. now nowhere in the rule book does it say about crossing the white line with 100% of the wheel, ok thatās fact also the white line is the infield (as confirmed by the SCB )so if at any point the rear tyre touches it then that is a disqualification. the inner edge of the track is where the track meets the white line, so anyone who has stated he was on the line has backed my argument.1 point

Hopefully lessons are learned and 4 riders are not being carried.1 point

I had expected Hagon to kick on a bit this year after being thrown in at the deep end last year and retaining his u21 title. Maybe needs a consistent year as a reserve somewhere to build some confidence.1 point

Well the ref changed his mind when Bowes won his race and overturned the result because of tyre warming, that was proved after the heat...my gripe is last week when Cairns admitted tyre warming and the ref refusing to use replays, its the grand final ffs,1 point

That's your interpretation, but that's not what the rule says. If that was the intent, then the rule must say "partially on the centre geen" or " if any part of the wheel is over the line" As it is, you can't have crossed anything if you are still partially on it. The rule is hard enough to police as it is. How could referees possibly judge if a part of a tyre is over the edge of a line in real time. I'm not saying that he definitely didn't cross the line, I'm saying that there is no conclusive evidence either way, so the referee couldn't exclude him. You would need a shot that showed a clear gap between the white line and the edge of the wheel to be sure and I've yet to see one a genuine one. I don't accept any of the AI enhanced photos that have appeared on here that seek to prove it either way.1 point

Wroclaw just revealed they have £5 million in savings. The Polish club with the strongest financial position. Why not use some of that money to pair up Emil and Artem? That would give Wroclaw their first league title.1 point

Speak to any SCB official and they will tell you both wheels must have crossed the inner white line. Another rule that will be re written I bet1 point

Be careful what you wish for. It could be a property developer that buys the lease, or the stadium, which could spell the end for speedway there, and probably the Pirates. I don't enjoy watching the racing from Wimborne Rd but speedway as a sport can't really afford to lose any teams or stadiums.1 point

Just reading about this "controversy", so I had a look at the Scunthorpe website. This is the picture on there: Being the Scunthorpe website - and along with a claim in the match report that the wheel was over the line - this would, presumably, be the most "over the line" point in the race. And the whole wheel is quite obviously not entirely over the line. So where is the controversy?1 point

Er, we couldnāt keep out original date of the 12th as it was taken from us and given to Sheffield for a home meeting againstā¦.. Belle Vue. Are you John Campbell by any chance?1 point

I wonder if many of the racers in this event are considering not making the trip to Argentina as they have little chance to be champion. These guys are all self funded even the teams such as Ducati & Triumph & there is no funding or support from the organizers with a maximum of 26 points available in each event many may look at this trip as folly.1 point

To be honest as a Glasgow fan I don't have a dog in the race. Yes maybe he was over the line but from every replay the ref saw last night there is no way he could say 100 percent.......so he can't exclude him.1 point
-
I don't think they should've changed the Belle Vue date, by all means give them priority of the second leg at home, but not a guarantee that allows them to postpone a match to get it. Fans could have made plans & this just messes them about. Luckily it's a local derby, so shouldn't cause too much hassle. Almost sounds like your dealing with toddlers.1 point

Gillman does not have much comfort to offer. This does not get me excited at all. Why didn't they go for the grand ole Wayville Showground Speedway right in the center of Adelaide? That would have been a truely awesome venue for a SGP there! Wayville has since been re-named as the Adelaide Showground. The main arena at the Adelaide Showground opened in 1925 and once had a capacity of 35,000, but can now cater for around 14,000 spectators. It features a main grandstand, smaller undercover and open grandstands, terracing and grass hill, while lighting allows for night events. The Adelaide Showground continues to host the annual Royal Adelaide Show. Often referred to as the birthplace of Australian speedway, the venue originally known as the Wayville Showground hosted regular meetings until 1934, attracting large crowds. It again various speedway meetings between 1986 and 2002. It was the home of harness racing in Adelaide from 1934 until 1973, when all meetings moved to the purpose-built Globe Derby Park which had opened in 1969. Crowds in excess of 20,000 were common, with the record attendance of 47,000 achieved for the 1963 Inter Dominion. In 2017, a one-off Friday night harness racing meet was held at Wayville, with around 8,000 fans attending. The venue was also the home of the West Adelaide Football Club in the SANFL from 1927 until 1939, before the club merged with Glenelg during the war years and eventually moved to their current home Richmond Oval when it opened in 1958. Man City vs Ipswich then ... with the huge crowd expected for the second leg, the Aces wouldn't be able to use the Etihad car park for overspill parking ...1 point

Who could've seen that coming? He's never seemed overly bothered about Edinburgh from watching his YouTube videos, and he'll go back to Glasgow having dropped nearly a point off his average.1 point

I write this as a neutral, I am not Poole fan, or a Scunthorpe fan, I am Arena Essex, Poole have a history of getting away with things, but Godfrey is no angel either, he was a small part of the reason why the Hammers went out of business. Anyway I digress Video evidence has been used at speedway for some time now and any good referee would have watched that raced and noted down the fact that they might have to look again at the footage before declaring a result. There is no way you could call it in real time whether Cookās rear tyre had crossed the line or not, it needed to be examined. The ref looked at it afterwards but only after being prompted too by David Howe, and then I suspect they would have only changed their minds had it been like with footballs VAR, not just a error, but a clear and obvious one, had speedway had someone in the pits acting as a overseer then they would not be able to overrule the decision because of that fact, some angles it did others were not conclusive. I think Poole did deserve to be champions but not because of what happened on the night but the fact they finished top of the table. Certainly last night I donāt think Poole cheated, they had a close call which could have gone against them but Zack didnāt do anything out of the ordinary, heck I recall years ago it was something of a in joke that Mick Poole would spend most of the season on the grass at the showground, he was famous for it. In summary, the ref could have handled it a lot better, the refereeing standards as a whole in this country have been very poor to put it nicely.1 point

Why is it a stupid comparison? https://www.timesandstar.co.uk/news/23205865.cleator-moor-man-accused-strangling-partner-case-dismissed/ both seem to be troubled men with substance abuse possibly behind their actions, unfortunately there are criminals and unsavoury types in all walks of life and speedway isnāt immune to that1 point

A while ago after a meeting at Sheffield a rider came out onto the track for a few practise laps, rider looked smart with kelvers and bike in the same colours. The rider looked fast and smooth and the people staying behind were interested until it became clear that the rider was Garrity where upon the majority of those watching turned away from the track and headed out towards the exit. Maybe that highlights the feelings that many fans have for the man.1 point

How utterly boring, last winter was far more interesting than the actual season which is about to conclude š„¹. Putting fans of clubs through torture should be an essential ingredient of the sport, after all what will there be to talk about for 4 months if everything's cut and dried by end of November?1 point

For what itās worth, my take is this. He did a āMorallyā and an āActualā bad crime. Went to Prison & served some time. Our stupid system lets people out early etc. Said person is now able to earn a living. Let him earn a living. If heās coming to your track, donāt pay to go-simple. Tell your promotion why you havenāt attended. If there is a massive crowd drop off when said rider is in town, leave it to the promoters to sort out. If itās bad for business it wonāt last long.1 point
