  1. Officials at Foxhall over the weekend apparently surveying the track. Measurements, markings etc. Looking forward to see how this progresses over the winter. Bob Ellis has been track curator for as long as I can remember. I hope he’s not going to just slip away without any acknowledgment from the club. There was a tiny comment at the end of one of the last match reports from Hurry about Bob’s last meeting, but he deserves a proper send off through the official channels for the decades of service he’s given and for very little reward. The likes of Kevin Long got one as did others, Bob should get the same.

  2. His average is still attractive but he’s such an infuriating rider. Never dominates when he should. Still not forgiven him for his showboating and losing the heat. Fanny

  3. Sat 31 October I took paid a visit to the Lymm Heritage Centre to see the Peter Collins exhibition. Lymm is a small but really nice village in Cheshire, just about 3 miles from M6 junction 20 and on the A56. The Exhibition Centre is virtually next to the Bridgewater Canal that runs through the centre of the village, makes a pretty picture with it's lived in narrow boats. Parking is good, couple of car parks within 50 yards of the Exhibition Centre, free for up to 1 hour, £1.70 for up to 2 hours, pay cash (coins) at machine, no change given. Half a dozen or so nice cafes in the village centre, together with a very old stone monument and stocks. In the village is what's called the "small dam" the "large dam is up stream by the side of the A56 with it's own parking area and country walk along either side of the dam...nice for dog walking. Saturdays the exhibition opens at 12noon till 4:30pm and I understand it's been extended through Nov and part of Dec due to popularity. If you thinking of going please check it out by googling Lymm Exhibition Centre (whatever works for you). I got there just before 12:30 and although people were in it was fairly quite and because of that I must of managed about 25 minutes chatting with Peter. It's not a large exhibition, it's not a large building. Couple of Peters bike, a trophy cabinet with about 20 of his collection of over 400, and some snippets and photographs from his growing up days on his dad's farm along with Chris and Dave Morton and other lads on Partington, some went on to be speedway riders. I definitely recommend a trip to Lymm Heritage Centre but do check beforehand that it and the display will be open and Peter will be in attendance on that day. Lymm itself, with the Bridgewater canal, Lymm Dam, the historic Lymm Cross and stocks, the cafes etc well worth a visit.

  6. I know it was his debut season but his away average for Berwick would concern me a bit......kind of feel he needs to develop a bit more in the Championship before taking on a top flight spot.

  7. Hence why I said riders like a,,,, we always seem to band the same old tried and failed riders,, how about trying new upcoming, maybe they turn into number 1s in a few yeas

  8. Not sure what you are on about here what so ever, he was part of the celebrations on final night, received a medal, he was invited to the end of season maugers but politely declined. people say hes going ipswich and if he is then good luck to him, i suspect both dan and belle vue will release statements in due course if this is to be the case, there no need for them at the moment. and if i was a betting man (not a very good one at that), id still place my money on dan not racing in the UK next season

  14. Sorry, never noticed your previous post.Might be interest from other teams on that average.

  16. According to the current regulations on assessed riders i still make nilsson a 4.50 Doyle, Kemp, King, Nilsson, Bewley, Cairns, Foord Current guess based on these forums rumours anyway 😂 fits 37

  17. SLATER LIGHTCAP Average is not 4.83,as he has not ridden 6 league matches therefore is has to go on the average that Poole signed him on which would be 4.00.IMO.

  18. Maybe Dick and Greg can find us another Aussie over the winter. Half as good as Battye has been this year would do fine.

  21. Amazing to think that 3 years after Tarasenko signed for Glasgow in the Championship on a 5.00 average (while averaging nearly 8 in the Premiership), we still have loopholes in the average rules. Fair play to Ipswich though, they'd be daft not to sign him.

  22. I agree and I could be totally wrong. Those regs could actually now be outdated as well so we’ll have to wait and see. The pieces of the jigsaw below the top 3 look tricky to put in place with very few options.

  23. Those people who know me will appreciate that I'm not looking at this from a 'Lynn v Ippo' perspective, but its pretty bonkers that he Nilsson can come in on a four and a half. He's Swedish Champion, a qualified GP rider and averaged over seven in his last three British seasons (admittedly a decade or so ago). Definitely a loophole and fair play to whoever gets him if anybody.

  28. Raises an interesting point about the ACU license thing - what happens if a rider simply can't get a team place? What if their average doesn't fit, their demands too high, or maybe they are just not good enough? Is there a definition of the difference between a rider who's willing to ride here but can't, and a rider who just doesn't want to ride here?

  29. ....and Richard did advise the management beforehand, so it wasn't a case of him simply not turning up....!😉

  30. Yet. He may well be next season if his progression continues. To average what he did in his very first season at the age of 16/17 was some achievement. So much more to come.

  31. Here’s the team with the averages they achieved in 2026, both including and excluding bonus points. 2026 averages including bonus points: R. Lawson 9.14 C. Rushen 6.27 L. Harrison 6.97 M. McDiarmid 6.26 W. Cairns 7.57 E. Kennett 5.16 S. Lightcap 5.83 2026 averages excluding bonus points: R. Lawson 8.10 C. Rushen 5.14 L. Harrison 6.46 M. McDiarmid 5.79 W. Cairns 6.94 E. Kennett 4.74 S. Lightcap 4.83 The difference between the two is interesting: Rushen: 5.14 → 6.27 = +1.13 Lawson: 8.10 → 9.14 = +1.04 Lightcap: 4.83 → 5.83 = +1.00 Cairns: 6.94 → 7.57 = +0.63 Harrison: 6.46 → 6.97 = +0.51 McDiarmid: 5.79 → 6.26 = +0.47 Kennett: 4.74 → 5.16 = +0.42 That already shows how much more some of these riders contribute to the team than their official averages suggest. Then you’ve got the potential for improvement next season. Cairns, Harrison, McDiarmid, Rushen and Lightcap are all young riders who should still have plenty of natural progression in them, so you’d expect several of those averages to rise simply through another year of experience and development. Lawson himself described 2026 as “CHAOS” and an “eye-opening” year, so after a more settled winter and season I’d expect there to be every chance of him getting back to his best. Then there’s Kennett. If he stays fit and is on good machinery, he is more than capable of putting a couple of points on his average. It wasn’t that long ago that he was operating as a genuine No.1 level Championship rider, so starting him at reserve on that sort of figure could be a real trump card. And if Kennett does increase his average quickly, that doesn’t necessarily weaken the reserves. One of Rushen, Harrison or McDiarmid could then move down, meaning a strong reserve pairing throughout the season. That’s what I like most about the side. Other than Lawson, and perhaps Cairns, I could see the rest of them ending up relatively close together average-wise. There isn’t really an obvious weak link, and there’s plenty of scope for improvement right through the team.

  32. Be strange for stock car promoter to trail big announcement and for it to be about speedway. Surely the announcement has to be about reopening Arlington and details of first stock car meeting.

  33. Not that I’ve seen, but with Masters Killeen and Brennan that’s already a huge chunk of points, someone I think said there’s another big rider signing, I think Howarth was mentioned? So I think it was more just assumed he wouldn’t fit. As 99% of things on here are, it’s just rumours or guesses

  34. No chance. Lightcap should be getting a team place first.

  35. Duty-free loans for items such as foam- or air-fences are available from within the speedway community. It it to Plymouth's credit that they want to raise the funding themselves themselves without going into debt, but if the alternative was to close down ..........

  38. I couldn't disagree more about what a newcomer would want to watch. We need to be targeting the youth into speedway for it to have a future. And a lot of those kids will already be into football. Apart from the English/Scottish team they support, what other football shirts do you think are sold the most in the UK for kids? Those with Ronaldo/Messi/Yamal on the back. They love a foreign player that seems 'exotic' just as I did in the 80's with Maradona/Laudrup etc. They want to see and support the best out there, whether that be a player or a rider. When the GP's started to be broadcast by Sky in the 90's, it was the foreign riders just as much as the Brits that made me fall in love with the sport. And I cannot get my head around why you think the Premiership is desperate to destroy the Championship. Without the second division, speedway would collapse in this country. The only thing they want to do is create a clearer gap between the divisions to better the sport in this country. It's not about destroying it. It's about adjusting the product, consolidating, improving and then from there it will change organically.

  39. Quite simply. You cannot create an 8 team PL if (a) no CL Club is prepared to be used as cannon fodder to enable Coleman / Lemon and Morris to create an 8 team PL just to get a few morcels of TV money and (b) it's the height of utter hypocrisy to try to parachute a returning Club, which is the case of Eastbourne (but could be many other examples like Birmingham Brummies!) has relied totally on the financial support of the Dugard family Business for over 80% of existence to bale it out year on year and destroyed within 3-4 years a handful of other outside investors who over many decades in the past have pumped endless sums of money in with good but utterly misguided intent to try to make it pay for a wonderfully loyal group of 600-800 regulars! By following (a) or (b) you are in fact diluting the very product that Coleman / Morris / Lemon are desperately trying to "big up" as a TV product and if that isn't ego driven, I don't know what is. In fact if you are a TV executive looking for an exciting meaningful nationally based product that is competitive and happy to be highlights only with occasional LIVE TV , then the Championship would actually be far more appealing and credible. A newcomer watching on TV would be far more interested in close competitive action staffed mostly by UK riders and not names they can't pronounce nor have heard of from various parts of the globe. The PL is what it is, a 6 team Division trying to live way beyond it's means and desperate to destroy the better product which is the CL.

  41. Will is a great young rider, yes he’s a character but that’s a good thing? Speedway needs more characters as it’s bums on seats. I’m not saying he’s playing the villain part like Niki Pedersen did but even if he did? We should be building up and supporting Will Cooper Jody and even Luke. As them 4 are probably leading the charge as the future of British Speedway.

  42. Poole fans don't really understand speedway. Thankfully they have a club owner and a manager who do.

  43. Cairns is a better prospect but also has a higher average (about 0.75 higher). The rumour is that he doesn't fit the Pirates jigsaw this year. Time will tell though Workington? No one else seems to be going there, and according to Comets fans Glasgow have signed pretty much all of the Comets riders from last year for significantly more money!

  44. I'll try and help them then, because I genuinely believe that that this is what they were saying, in a clumsy way. :- Having reviewed the incident against the written rule, it is acknowledged that a level of ambiguity in the wording allowed a definition of the inner edge of the track, to be the outer edge of the track marking, which was breached. It is confirmed that crossing the inner edge of the track marking is the point of exclusion and without sufficient evidence to prove this was breached, we uphold the referees decision. The wording of the rule has been amended in line with the FIM regulations to confirm it's original intent.

  45. The very same. We were regulars at Eastbourne and the children (16+20 now) were introduced to speedway in a carrycot. Week in , week out even in the NL days. We would go and watch speedway when they raced away at Lakeside and took them to Rye House when the opportunity allowed. Now with demise of Eastbourne (rinsed by Ian Jordan) and no Lakeside there is no speedway close to us in Greater London / Surrey. So we have had a trip to Oxford and a trip to Norfolk last year and watched a meeting at Kings Lynn + Ipswich but with no league racing on tv - HBO/TNT/BT it is now just a case of checking results on the BSN app + watching races on twitter. Our speedway fix now is the SGP series on TV, my daughter returns from University for each SGP and we watch it as a family. That's it !! The sport is in Cardiac arrest !!

  46. I’ll also add, taking a victory lap after winning a race. Riders, just bloody do it, it costs you naff all and you’re doing it for the people who contribute towards your wages. Take it a step further collect the team flag every time and take that on your victory lap with you.
