British Final 2022
Bagpuss replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Rain now from 9pm according to the Met Office, hopefully they get on with it as much as possible! -
Absolutely, particularly with some Polish clubs finishing their fixtures and more riders becoming available.
-
I'm sure those who were there yesterday are right that the track was blameless on this occasion but if the stats earlier in the thread are accurate about numbers of falls, injuries and time taken for meetings then the authorities need to be working with the club at the very least if they aren't already. Mildenhall is my second nearest track and having a small daughter for whom evening meetings aren't really practical a Sunday afternoon visit to West Row at some point appeals, but not if its going to take three hours and riders are getting carted away every week.

Presumably because he has his final Extraliga match for Grudziadz this weekend. Let's hope it doesn't get rained off and he comes through it in one piece!

Glasgow v Edinburgh Jubilee Trophy 31st July @3pm
Bagpuss replied to Gazc's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The number 8 is only really to cover the Rising Star and R/R but I take your point, anything which could reduce the number of mix-and-match guests would get my vote. My own team.has been built to always have a heavyweight reserve but if that rider got injured and had to be covered by our number eight then thems the breaks. -
So presumably for Thurs 1 Pickering 2 Worrall 3 Klindt 4 Jorgensen 5 Lawson 6 Kerr 7 Edwards/Thomas then Jakobsen at 6 for Monday week

Two more injury withdrawals today.....

That's a great effort by a Cook-less Glasgow. -

Very often the way, the riders get over it quickly but the fans bleat on and on about it and hold grudges. -

Five-a-side speedway, that's a new one on me. Best wishes to all those injured. -
But he's had a spell at reserve and Kerr hasn't.....
-
Yes fair point but the strategy would have been to put Bewley in the second GB heat so they could have done that anyway. Perhaps the strategy after heat one was to stick with the 'top' two as chosen and only use Bewley when they had to. To be fair to Lambert if he doesn't touch the tapes against Norway he probably goes unbeaten with Woffy for the rest of the meeting and there's no need for a run off but I think he will now be fortunate to be involved much on Saturday.
-
I've been giving this a lot of thought, trying to work out why they wouldn't want to get Jakobsen in at reserve, the only thing I can possibly think of is that they think he can handle himself in the top five and that the combination of that and Kerr at reserve would score more than Jakobsen at reserve and Jorgensen in the top five? Don't necessarily agree myself but it all I can think of. Unless of course its a political decision.

Awful meeting, aqdul track. GB looked all at sea early on. Thought Lambert was unlucky with the tapes exclusion as the Norwegian twitched on his inside but he never made a gate all night and ought to start at 3 on Saturday. Hopefully they will find some dirt by then! Putting to one side who scored what I'm surprised GB didn't swap round each heat to give them all four rides as an audition for Saturday, thought thats what they'd do.
