Poole vs Oxford BSN 07/05/25

Have the wheels finally come off the Poole roller coaster?

What would happen if Will Cairns has a change of mind/circumstance & a wish to ride for a different Championship club.

I beleave the pressure Poole have placed on the young lad is emense - dispite whatever some might say.

Enjoy your 2025 season whatever the final outcome.

Absolutely NO pressure is being put on young Will Cairns whatsoever. Its just a case of get on the bike and ride. The lad is 16 or will be, he has years of developing to do . So anybody who thinks that is completely barking up the wrong tree.

Has anyone got the time of Heat 15 from last night - thanks.

Another quick question - what time is the curfew at Poole (if there is one). It was a topic of discussion on the terraces last night.

And Jenkins is far from fit either

I know. But the Poole supporters are struggling enough to come to terms with losing to a five-man team. Tell them that they lost to a team containing only four fit riders and it would be too much for the poor little lambs.

Hardly. The Poole management have told him all they want is 2 points per meeting.

Not a chance will they be happy with 2pts per meeting, they will be expecting more without doubt, personally I think will is a real talent and will average more than  2,however he may find it tough going into the 1st bend with the likes of Wright, masters, allen and barker amongst others.

If the team continue to perform like that over the next few meetings changes will be made! I would say likely 2 changes on top of Cairns arrival. Oxford deserved the victory last night, we were simply poor outside of Rowe and Lawson who could leave the stadium with their heads held high, the rest the less said the better! no aggression or fight in my opinion. I really hope I eat humble pie come the end of the season, but as it has been said on here, once the team was announced for the first time in many years I'm not that confident. Matt rarely builds poor teams but this year I think we will be found out! Lets hope we see a better performance next Wednesday. Before anyone jumps on the 'give them time it's early' maybe take a look at Danny's comments in the Bournemouth Echo this afternoon! He isn't happy and red flags are popping up!

Any news on Gilkes? Just read elsewhere that the concern was his kneecap and not his arm (which he's badly broken previously of course)

Apparently dislocated his knee and dislodged the kneecap. Don't know what ligament/muscle/nerve damage there may be?

Ouch... doesn't sound like he'll be back anytime soon.

No question Oxford deserved it, hope Kerr can sort his bike issues, Tobias and Starke were poor too. Poor decision choosing Starke over Foord.

To be fair,

The pressure on the Poole promoters is much different than the rest of the league..

Maybe even the league above also?

History shows that they get some of the best crowds in the country, regardless of league they are in, (when winning), but with that volume of support comes the threat of many "going missing" when times get a bit tougher...

Hence, they got ahead of the game and dropped down when financially it was starting to impact them to be "also rans" in Div 1..

(A great business plan considering they used pretty much Div 1 riders at a Div 2 level at the time)..

No matter what level they race at, Poole are very much one of the leading lights of UK Speedway, and more "Matt Fords" over the past couple of decades that existed would have meant a much higher level to the sport .

didn’t bother checking the result last night as people reckoned they were unbeatable and would get better with with the introduction mid season of young Cairns .But so glad the pts went elsewhere so other teams might fancy there chances  at Wimborne rd this season  . Yes when I go to my clubs home meetings I would like a home win but much prefer to see good hard racing and a tight meeting  on the night . Hopefully the Pirates on here will lose there arrogance now and watch good close meetings on a well prepared track ?.

Didn’t Lewi Kerr say at start of year he’d got brand new engines for this season?  If that’s the case could just be testing problems

The newness of an engine makes little difference it's how it out set with the other components which matters, alongside the rider being able to ride it!

Middlo's interview on this week's Piratecast podcast today tried to explain how the Poole riders arrived with the same set-ups as their other home meeting v Plymouth. Unfortun ately the track prep and weather were totally different and it wasn't til the second half of the meeting that Poole began to claw back the deficit.

In what way was the track prep different?

A few red flags well the obvious one is Kerr, the other ones possibly Starke not being as potent as expected and maybe thomsen but I think the biggest issue is Kerr his performances have been poor and I think for the first time in a while the management may have to realise they’ve made mistakes over the winter aswell which is a rareity,I would of had Foord at reserve and had Danny King back.

How long do you think Kerr will be given?
