Perhaps, but by leaving it so late he has robbed someone the opportunity to plan ahead to ride the GP season and get sponsors ready for the campaign. Actually I blame whoever thought it was a good idea to offer him a wildcard, his GP form for two seasons was average (at best) and that was before the injury.
