Phil Lanning named some of them on the latest 360 podcast, I think Wright, Lawson and Kerr were mentioned. The key will be getting a proper number one I guess, hopefully they can find one.

Brady Kurtz?

Mark Lemon taking one for the good of the sport?

Woffy at Belle Vue as back up to Bewley in SWC year to show his fitness levels?...

That would be the logical move Mike to try and help them maybe thats why Kurtz is being delayed, I just hope they don't get stuck with someone 5-10 years past their sell by date who stiffs the owners for ten's of thousands and delivers near zero.

  • 3 weeks later...

Isn’t there a STAARS meeting tonight, wonder if there’ll be any update on the Ipswich buy out and Northampton if it’s going be a yes or no?  Assuming the Tigers Ten tickets will get a push or two with Sheffield like the other clubs desperate for some sort of income ahead of the season

They wouldn’t have anything more to add to the Ipswich buy out than their last statement last week.

We are now halfway though the latest 2 week window for the sale to be completed. The lease for Foxhall was a hold up but that is now resolved.

Not a lot to report from the STAARS meeting. Ipswich and Northamton, there are daily zoom meetings. Sheffield are not having a headline team sponceer but teaming up with the Childrens Hospital to promote their chatity. This was well recieved. Talk of setting up a proper supporters club to try and ge better away suport. Meetin concluded with a fantastic race night put on by Ryan. Meeting very well atended and a good night had by all.

It’s worrying times because if Sheffield lost money last year then they certainly will this year.
£80k less income this year I’d imagine. £60k via tv money and £20k possibly from a headline sponsor.
points limit slashed and a weaker product and no doubt a price increase at the turnstiles will bring the crowds flocking.
when will speedway learn that after 20 attempts of this master plan it’s quite obvious the 21st attempt will fail too.

Just let away fans into tracks for free, (or a nominal fee), when it isn't a "local derby"...

40 or so maybe inclined to put on a coach if they were getting in for  nothing/minimal amount.

Adding atmosphere is one of the big challenges the sport faces, and getting a few dozen away fans in attendance would definitely help that massively ..

Just bring along 2 utility bills and photo ID as proof... that'll get them queuing at the turnstiles 😁

Fair point, but its the old "duffers" as you put it who keep the sport going, year on year more old "duffers" stop going and the aint no younger generation to take their place so it'll go twit's up eventually attendance wise sadly.
