poole keith Posted yesterday at 12:55 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:55 PM I'm guessing the rent to galliards is paid quarterly in advance so assuming it's standard quarter dates and assuming the March payment was made the next payment will be due mid June so that could be decision time
Chairboy
I would hope that the speedway promotion will be able to complete this season, if a sensible conversation can take place with Galliard Homes. The property developers will surely not have plans in place to do anything to the place before the Autumn - ? (Grasping at straws here)

JamesHarris
14 hours ago, HGould said: The great irony here is timing. Had SIS have pulled out a month ago, the future of Oxford Speedway may have been far more assured for 2026. The BSPL and PL Promoters would have shelved the very costly Northampton project, that must be costing them more that £100,000 and pumped £20,000 a month rent in to Oxford and run an Oxford Team in the PL. To optimise income, they could still have run an Oxford Team in the CL. That would have given a further 12 months to properly market and develop Northampton, if it was still needed after a bigger reorganisationfor 2027. Timing! You might not be far off the scent here. If the Northampton gamble turns out to be a complete financial disaster (given its lack of promotion) I would say its a very good bet they would move shop to Oxford (established venue and fan base) mid season. In the last 35 years I think that has happened before. Wimbledon to Eastbourne in 1991 and Skegness to Isle of Wight in 1997.
foreverblue
Well they have announced the team for Wednesday, they would not do that if there was doubt it was happening.
mikebv
Did I read that the monthly rent in total, for Dogs and Speedway, was £20k?.. If so, I presume Oxford Speedway's rent contribution would be some part of this £20k total? Could they pay the £20k themselves? (If that is the rental?)... Two matches per month would require an extra 500 or so at each meetng to cover this in totality... Would an extra 500 (non regulars) attend given they will understand a possible threat of total closure? If the NDL is a money loser then taking time out from that might also help the overall cause? Spoofer
Rent 20k, leccy 20k a month plus all other operational costs. Over 2m has been lost there so if speedway are saying they are running something sinister is going on. They need to come out and say who's funding it and who will pay everyone because there is no money there and loans will be called in at any time. Jamie did say from the get go they would be racing this week I’m not sure he would have done that is he wasn’t certain.
Spoofer
Should add, none of the above is a secret. It's all in the public domain if you look for it or ask the stakeholders.
Spoofer
If the riders and medics etc haven't seen written guarantee of who is underwriting the costs and it can't be Boothby they better not be crying about it after.
