topaz325
The Comets look to kick off there first home meeting of the 2026 season with a BSN series match against the Scunthorpe Scorpions. The Scorpions have a fantastic number 1 in Josh Pickering backed up by some former Comets in Luke Harrison and Simon Lambert . The weather at the time of writing is looking good for Saturday, so lets hope for some great racing . Cooper Rushen replaces the injured Vinnie Foord. Neila
Should be an comets win, but some of the scorpions maybe riding for their jobs due to some poor early meetings. 50-40 to the comets 🔵⚪🏁
scunny1
At some point we need to do well on our travels, here's hoping. Will more than 2 Scorpions put in a good away performance?
SteelShoe
Comets finally kick off their 2026 home campaign with a visit from the Scunny Scorpions. The North Lincolnshire club have had a mixed start to the season having ridden home and away against Redcar in the BSN Trophy and Poole in the Knockout Cup. After being knocked out of the Knockout Cup over two legs against the Pirates the Scorps will be looking to push us all the way in a quest to progress from the Northern BSN group. In No1 Josh Pickering they have one of the best riders in the league, an exciting racer Josh never gives up until he crosses the line, I think Comets fans will be in for some exciting races involving this man. So far Josh has generally lacked support from another quality heat leader as both Michael Palm Toft at 5 and young Luke Harrison at 3 have to date been somewhat ineffectual away from the Eddie Wright Raceway. Young Lukes last visit to the GT Tyres Arena seen him lift the U19 British Title beating Jody Scott and a certain Cooper Rushen. Coops is currently the talk of British Speedway and he guests in place of the unfortunate Vinnie Ford so the Comets fans will have a great opportunity to see what young Coops is all about. Hopefully Steve Lawson will have a good outside racing line prepared and for sure Cooper will not be the only rider to use it. Another rider who was involved in the U19 Title that day was the Scorpions No7 Ryan Ingram. Having just watched a video of Ryan beating Lewis Kerr at the EWR It certainly looks like this young man continues to improve so Cooper and Jamie will have their work cut out against Ryan and experienced reserve partner Simon Lambert who is usually solid at Northside. Prediction an entertaining 60-30 UTC !
scaramanga
60 _30 meetings are not very often entertaining I'd rather have a good battle even if it ment a defeat for my team Not value for money watching riders well spread out doing what's basically practice laps
Spiderman1
Can see a close one as long as Pickering keeps his form, scorpions need some luck and confidence will come
CTD26
Comets to take the win and kick off the home campaign with a bang. If scunthorpes old head at reserve turns up be closer than a lot are expecting. However, Pickering aside for the scorpions, I think our top 5 will have too much fire power. 52-

But a 60-30 match could be exciting if the Scunthorpe keep gating & Workington keep passing. Edited April 17 by szkocjasid

Fozzie4388
This will be won from the 3, 4 and 5 positions, The Comets look very strong the Scorpions don't.

SteelShoe
Track looking in good condition, Steve Lawson is on with the watering. Looking forward to some cracking racing, Pickering probably going to get 6 rides but hopefully not 18 points 😃. UTC 👊
Bagpuss
A minor gripe but yet another track who doesn’t mow their centre green before being live on the TV/stream. Such an easy way to make the place look much neater and tidier.

Mr Blobby
If there was a track that scunny were going to actually do play at it would be Worky with it being the closest in shape to the Eddie wright raceway. Normal services to be resumed anywhere else in the UK. 😂
