They should have held an impromptu practice session, any second half riders invited to, would have soon scrubbed the top surface off without having to race flat out under pressure.

But as others have said, A blade is a part of the equipment that a club has to prove they have in order to to get a track licence.

The main issue as I see it is that you have some riders who are just too afraid to ride on anything less than perfect because they fear if they get hurt here, their Polish club will throw the book at them.

Paul Hurry (from Ipswich website):

“We had let the crowd in, and we tried to the end to get the meeting on. They tried to scrape the material off, but it was too wet. As soon as (track curator) Bob (Ellis) put the blade down, the sludge came out either side. There was no hope of getting it off the track.”

So there was a blade ... ?

Either the ref got it wrong, wouldn't be the first time a ref got something wrong, or Hurry is referring to the leading edge of the grader that was being used to do whatever it was they were trying to do? 🤷‍♂️

The lumps that came off the bladed grader were solid and staff had to break them up, it didn't look sludgy to me as there wasn't much material at all. I'd have ridden it!

And it would be a massive five, or even six, figure sum for some of the riders who ride over here...

Can't blame them really for not taking any risks...

I’m afraid I would not entertain them in Uk in that case. They are helping to send the sport into obscurity with their attitude. Speedway is hardly a no  risk sport.Wait till this situation arises at Northampton and see how the newcomers to the sport react.

You could see there was a bit of a top surface but not a lot at all, had the day been dry I bet you that track would have produced a blue groove very quickly.

There wasn’t much to blade off and you would still have the issue of the base being wet and that being hard would have been slippery, same as you don’t water a track which has blue grooved.

Yes that late shower did sod it up but for them to say that before the shower the track was nothing more than just OK, does wind me up a bit, how could it have been better than just ok? Dry as a bone?

Just listened to Paul Hurry and Danny King on BBC Suffolk. No mention of any blades. From what I saw on bend 3 I agree with the picture, it looking like the leading edge of the grader was doing the scraping.

And I'm pretty sure Iain from your commentary position(s) you would have spotted it?

When Sky pulled out, and the "real money" stopped, they should have gone their own way...

Become a "BSB" to Poland's "WSB/MotoGp"...

Up and coming UK, European and Commonwealth riders, riding alongside established riders who have either reached their level, or come back from the higher standard, with an organic movement up to the higher standard as and when riders reached it...

With a strong youth development plan in place to ensure as riders move on, they get replaced..

Instead, as a long term development plan for UK Speedway we had... ..

???????
