Ellis should have replaced Lawson. Ellis has been impressive in his last two Foxhall meetings but I can’t recall him being that consistent over two meetings before. It’s the best I think I’ve ever seen him ride. It’s clear he has a point to prove & will certainly have given Mayfield something to think about. They will also have seen how good Adam is to have around the team in terms of generating spirt. I think he has proven why he frustrates me so much to, clearly a very very good rider in there & one that could develop into a major force if he could find that level of consistency. Would I have him back at Foxhall in 27 100% yes! Mayfield will have so tough decisions to make over the winter in terms of who to leave out & bring in.

I would say Lawson frustrates me 100 times more than Ellis ever has. He is someone who brings team spirit with him and a good vibe which shouldn’t go unnoticed. For me. Only 3 riders should be re called for next season and build around them, King, Tobi and Brennan. I would put Edwards as a number 6 potentially as I believe his time at 7 is up next year and if he is having a good meeting he could be a weapon at 6. Edited August 21 by ShanoXtra . Interesting re Lawson - he wasn't great last night but equally he was involved in 3 x 4-2's and a 3-3 so was fairly effective - the Witches issue this season is they don't have (to me) an out and out no1 really so that spot is always going to look a bit weak. Ellis i agree was very good and was surprised he didn't get the nod for heat 15 but perhaps as a guest it was felt better to give the start money to a signed rider. My recollection of Ellis in 2025 was he was a solid rider at Foxhall but his performances in 2026 have been even better - possibly cos he wants a team place in 27 which I would be happy for as I wanted him back this season. I also like Jason he often has a stinker of a ride but then pops out of the gate and holds the line really well for a win or a 2nd. He also does the laps of honour and gets the crowd going a bit after a 5-1 etc. I am not convinced by KJP at all yet he shows no signs of getting on with the track -
Neila
Lawson doing what Lawson does at this time of year, looking after his average for next year, but as been pointed out still got heat results for the team, so his average manipulation goes relatively unnoticed

He told me that you should never sign a rider based on great late season form, as, in his words, "loads of the others will be sorting their averages for next year".. You would often read interviews in the Speedway Star and Mail with riders "wishing the season wasn't ending", given their form.. Invariably the following year, their upturn in form, didn't continue into the start of the new season.... You can't blame riders for ensuring they give themselves every chance to keep earning in a sport that can see you losing your job for doing too well!!.. If he's paid bonus points, which by his scoring over the last decade would suggest, he clearly does. Makes himself employable in each league each season on 'bargain averages' 55 BPs in 2025 60 in 2024 56 in 2023 and 40 so far this year. His riding average is always around half a point more than his GSA, you can't fault him on it in a sport with silly team building rules. Dare I say it, if there was a squad system/no average limits, he probably kicked on a lot more than he as

Don't see it as a problem. Many have done the same in the past and will in the future. It is a very sensible thing to do.

He certainly wasn’t, he was being shown up by Ellis and he looked slow. The fact one of his 4-2s came from him being last and Douglas getting out of shape shows that. It’s not even just his points, it’s his whole attitude which is laughable. He should go to Poole and stay there as far as I am concerned.

marko
How can riders possibly know what will happen next season never mind the points limits given how things are with the sport in this Country? Might only be one league, should only be one league. Also how come Dickson didnt kick up a fuss about the track being wet after what happened not so long ago? There's an interesting video on the Witches FaceBook page, showing the machinery in the pits last night, and this is a comment from his mechanic: "It's ok it's Richards bike they're like that on a normal day I'm used to it. Good night we even started with bike building."

I suspect he just wanted this meeting out of the way to avoid an end of season fixture squeeze. The Lions have a few headaches at he moment what with trying to replace Howarth and now the injuries to Thompson & Morris.
