  1. No, it was Harris' spare tyre. Would explain the difficulty zipping up his kevlars.

  2. Thanks, I'm definitely going to support this initiative. I hope it proves profitable for the Tigers and continues after the lockdown. I don't get to see live speedway since the demise of Weymouth as I can't attend weekdays. My only live speedway in recent years apart from Cardiff was weekend breaks in Eastbourne, but now due to the popularity of staycations, availablity of accommodation is limited & expensive. I might even become a Tigers fan if I can watch them every week

  3. Let’s hope Steve Rees pulls in really decent crowds, gets his investment back and some. Speedway could then leap frog on his success at some point in the future.

  4. If only every away rider turning up at Monmore had some knowledge of 'Karlsson's corridor'.... They've done really well to keep it such a secret during all these years haven't they? Even the many who have guested for Wolves at Monmore over the years obviously haven't been told about it... And every live TV match from Monmore must not have been watched by any Speedway riders who have ridden there after it was broadcast... Whisper it.... "They will go in to the first two turns around mid track and then, cut the apex of the second bend, as close to the kerb as is possible, and pass under you, don't ride the inside line apex on turn one as you will drift wide coming out of turn two and get passed, time, and time, and time again"..... This message will self destruct in five seconds. ..

  5. Its not just the amount of matches for Tero (and i don't believe any professional should be short of laps at this stage of the year) its the timing and availability of replacements. If as suggested there is a strong rider in the UK looking for rides and a rider in the team under performing and not contributing to the team then changes have to be strongly considered. No rider is bigger than any club and a positive message to loyal fans may be what is needed (plus wake up any others who have been off their game)

He/She/They* spent most of the thread agreeing with Himself/Herself/Themself* and probably got a tad "confused".... Which seems to happen to Him/Her/Them* quite a lot... * Delete as applicable due to personal identifying protocol....

  7. One of those riders who were never destined to be a World Champ, but seemed to ride every race as if it was his last... You would never feel short changed watching Martin Dixon.. Best wishes to him.

  9. After all those years retired, to make a comeback at 45 and then break several ribs a few meetings in, you could forgive him for thinking “Nah I don’t need this anymore”. Hopefully that’s not the case, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

  10. If Speedway is second best when it comes to numbers of spectators / profitability etc. then you have to accept that , and be thankful that the Stock Car promoter is happy to share a track with speedway Too many Speedway fans moan about sharing a stadium with Stock Cars, greyhounds, etc. yet it is often the other activities that keep the stadium going as a business

  13. Strange after only a few meetings in the British leagues fans are wanting the heads of riders for a possible one off night of racing .

  17. Kent will be completely knackered when mulford moves into top 5 unless they make a change, eastbourne wont be as badly affected when ablitt moves up , even verge could end up there . Gilkes looks the real deal.

  18. Remember she was one of the inner sanctum. It was their club, their track, their land , they have chosen to sell up and take the money, that’s business and it’s their choice. Sad loss to speedway but predictable .

  19. Unless there is a last minute change of plans the Swedish Eliteserien league gets underway in the first week of June- all matches are live on C More in Sweden and 1 or 2 matches a week on Premier Sports. ESS offer a subscription service which allows access to every match live or on video. https://en.elitspeedway.com/about There are 9 teams in the league so every round 1 team doesn`t ride- Piraterna are the team in round 1 to miss out. Tuesday June 1st( 1 match on Premier Sport 1 at 6pm UK time Indianerna v Lejonen Masarna v Smederna Dackarna v Vastervik Thursday June 3rd Vetlanda v Rospiggarna- Live on Premier Sport 1 6pm UK time

  20. British speedway is very short of cash, it’s having to operate with reduced attendances and yet clubs are not using the obvious and potentially profitable avenue of live streaming it’s meetings. Take today’s meeting at Belle Vue. The official speedway site were quick in putting up a couple of heats, yet there are hundreds of supporters in and around Peterborough and thousands around the country who would have been quite happy to pay £10-12 for the opportunity of watching this meeting. The quality of the feed is high, there’s live commentary, what’s the problem? 1000 people paying for a stream would bring in £10,000 at a tenner, or £11,950 at £11.95. Hugely profitable. And remember. There’s a worldwide audience to pay and watch. Promoters might be worried about loss of revenue at the stadium but currently with reduced capacity demand should be enough for a stadium to sell out. And it is possible to geo-block fans within a set distance from the stadium. Glasgow are running behind closed doors, with live feed only at £11.95. The meeting against Poole on Friday should achieve very good numbers with the take up of the stream. I have already purchased my ticket. Pretty sure a lot of Poole fans will also. And the feed will give neutrals something to watch on a Friday night if they want to see some action. Now for the top flight Eurosport have the rights to TV, but I don’t think it has been tied down like the Sky and BT deals, allowing promoters to be more flexible on doing their job of promoting. The days of no filming inside, no photos etc choke the sport. Use technology to open up the market. Streaming cost a small amount to do. One cameraman, a commentator and someone in charge of the streaming is all that is needed. Two cameramen and a little more is required. But bloody hell it should already be in place, bringing in the funds for our sport to be sure of its survival. Come on sort it out!

  21. Think it will be closer than that, Gilkes is red hot at the moment, Hurry knows his way round Arlington, as do Nicholls and Morley. Think it will hinge on the performances of Heeps, Bacon and Starke. Hope you're right though

  22. I have 2 spare tickets for the Berwick meeting. Cost is £35.70. For the main grandstand. £17 plus 85p handling fees for each ticket. An extra £1 if you want me to pop them in the post. I will take PayPal or bank transfer. This guarantees you get in incase it’s a sell out and no x2’s are available.

  25. Having some major stock car meetings has definitely helped Kings Lynn Speedway... The stadium upgrade wouldnt have happened with just Speedway income I would have thought.. I believe this year Odsal has the World Final so maybe that will impact the KL finances? It does appear that a great many things help "subsidise" lots of Speedway clubs to compete, as the fan numbers dont always cover the costs, so whether fans like it or not, sometimes you just have to accept it and live with it..

  28. Looks as if Eleven Sport 1 Poland have agreed to show the Swedish league- whether that is Tuesday’s and Thursday’s i don’t know- certainly could allow better scope watching on the internet. Edit starts tonight Dackarna v Vastervik 6pm UK time http://spedway.ucoz.lv/ seems to be working- go full screen and click on small square with 3 lines in it- other channels then come up if you hover over them Eleven Sport 1 comes up.

  32. A good idea But one problem could be - does every track have a strong internet connection ? The UK doesn't yet have good 100% Broadband / 4G coverage { I don't know the technology involved, I am assuming if you live stream an event , you need a good internet connection at the location where it takes place }

  33. Looks like Sam Masters will be missing for this one due to a Polish commitment on the Sunday and there could be a doubt over Ben Barker with his fractured finger... Although Ben reckons he will be fit in time for both the away and home legs of this KOC tie... Regards THJ

  38. Kent Royals showing exactly why the new NDL points limit is a total joke...... 3 novice riders thrown into the deep end getting 2 gifted points between them. No second places tells the tale of the 2 tier structure of most NDL teams in 2021. Once Mulford moves up into the main body of the team Kent will be exposed at reserve. At least the seagulls have had the good fortune to have been able to build a fairly solid team within the points limit devoid of rabbits.

  39. Only unexpected to you- you obviously haven`t watched Lublin at home or don`t realise what a competitive team they have.

  40. Think the Seagulls may still be favourites, highly likely to go unbeaten at home and as you say 2 of the most difficult away fixtures gone so likely to pick up some away wins as well.

  41. Another nail biting draw looks like it was a good afternoons entertainment. Terrific performance by Gilkes another star in the making we certainly have a lot of them now Never expected him to put Knight in the shade but he was deadly Seagulls will be happy with 3 away points from two matches having had to re jig but Royals will have to do something about the long tail if they are to have any ambitions and we know Len always wants to win. I am surprised that they declared some points under the limit when they could have had someone like Luke Harris A special word for Mulford and Ablitt, Two more that can join the list of future stars. looking forward to seeing Gilkes at Arlington next Sunday and how he copes with Brennan,Kemp and Edwards.

  42. Peterborough are that good to the point where the can easily become Arsene Wenger's Arsenal during the 2003-04 PL season. The Peterborough INVINCIBLES Crendon Panthers has a nice ring to it already.

  43. A double header saves insurance costs, stadium rental, meeting fees, referee fees, ambulance & first-aid costs, etc, etc. Also, if (as you quote) you are paying £18 to watch the Lions and £16 to watch the Cubs, at the double-header you're saving £8 on admission, plus buying only one programme, paying one load of petrol, car parking, etc, etc. You might feel that £26 for thirty races is too much, and that's your privilege. But it's less that a quid a race..........
