  1. The misses said to me, "You don't seem to visit many tracks these days?" It reminded me that 50 years ago I averaged over 5 meetings a week over the whole season and my team had a home meeting every week! 50 years ago we had the following options for the first Saturday in September : D1: Belle Vue v Poole Cradley v Exeter King's Lynn v Leicester Swindon v Glasgow Halifax v Coventry D2: Berwick v Workington Canterbury v Hull Rayleigh v Scunthorpe. For today I have NDL: Leicester v Kent. I commend the Promoters on their inability to delight me and want my money at the weekend.

  2. For LEAGUE racing what happens inside the fence is a bonus but not the most important, the most important is what happens outside the safety fence, the fan experience, how that fans feels, if that fan supports their team and there is a bond with that team and they are with other like minded fans (the more the better)creating an atmosphere and their team hopefully wins with maybe some controversy thrown in even if the racing was crap the fan experience will be a good one and make that fan want to go back, this is basically what happens in any team sport even football, add in value for money and you’re on a winner, we all want great racing but great racing infront of a few fans with no atmosphere will be a negative fan experience, it’s the opposite for a TV audience as tv can’t capture atmosphere so relies on good racing , just think back when you went to away matches back in the day on a coach or with your teams fans and you watched a dull meeting with no passing and your team got battered but the 50 or so of you supported your team and had a blast creating an atmosphere, it was a good fan experience, it didn’t matter what happened inside the fence

  3. It is past the cut off date for play off positions but the league meeting MUST take place or fines will be issued.

  4. That’s just playing a game, I didn’t play, I developed it in full and ran it for the benefit of others, and for 90% of its lifetime it was free to play, despite countless hours it took to run it, have you ever done anything that benefits speedway fans across the globe off your own back for free?

  5. Nice edit you clown, clearly you know I’m right

  6. Enjoyed our trip to Redcar again but making a habit of coming off second best. We blew the first leg with only a 4 point lead but once Super Sam blew his best engine while leading heat 5, we were in trouble. Way too many 0 scores and not even a ht 14 from Paco Superb from Josh as usual Congrats to Redcar and we’ll meet again next weekend

  7. Polish type then? Big, flat and slick? If so most of our lads just don't ride enough on that type of circuit, which would probably have been Wozniak and Kubera's argument at Glasgow the other week. Very difficult to rock up somewhere alien and be competitive.

  8. The crowd levels are dropping though. The meetings are Professional run,but Temporary track prep is not consistent.40000 to 20000 tells me that all is not well with Cardiff and this years debacle will certainly not inspire fans to attend next year.

  9. Don't think they are, it's been bounced for Lions v Poole.

  10. We're Poole and we do what we want. Lol

  11. Poole finished above Plymouth, so why shouldn't they hold the 2nd leg , if this had been any other team at Plymouth on Tuesday nothing would be said, because it's Poole the forum goes in to melt down, jealously raises it head again

  12. A 2022 average of above 5 isn't too bad is it? Put 1 and a half points on his starting average... he'd be knocking on the door of being a heat leader at some clubs!

  13. Trees should work for the BSPL as their PR officer can put a positive spin on anything.

  14. Well he was at Brum on Wednesday where he outscored Dan, Kemp, Edwards, Bailey in the under 21s

  15. There shouldn't be any owners or promoters, independent is the only way forward.
    2 points
  16. Indeed... All the promoters need now is to find 20,000 others of a like mind and they have cracked it... Might be somewhat of a "challenge" though....

  17. Plymouth shouldn't have needed the BSPL to point out why that is the right thing to do....

  18. You really need to grow up and stop playing games, if you want to actually say what you are alluding to then do it otherwise keep quiet.

  19. Oh here we go. The Forum Trolls / Bullies now turn their attention to Glasgow and more specifically one of the best british riders of his generation with innuendo and queries about why he is not riding. The "form / mantra" of these trolls is clear. That's why people as "why are Poole so hated" For the easily provable record Craig Cook has suffered a series of high speed crashes in recent months, has probably come back too soon from some of them and in almost all cases has been an innocent victim. Its bad enough at the comments made and some of the inferences, winks and nods. When the guy also has well documented and well know mental health issues about which he has been very honest, it really does make you realise how desperately sad these trolls are. People in glass houses really should not throw pebbles and stones, you never know a bloody great boulder may land on you at any time! Behave! Leave the guy alone. He's beaten up physically and taking time out to recover, hopefully to smash the daylights out of Poole where it matters on the track with big points.

  20. Well averages must lie then?? And he doesn't get beat many times in nl at home does he?

  22. That's harsh personally think the gap between the championship and NDL is to big riders like the Thompsons Mcgurk's Palin Kelly Bickley should be protected at reserve until 21 or 22 allowing them to develop no point having riders and crucifying them and them leaving the sport when we already have a rider shortage

  23. Quite right. In my late teens snd twenties I was part of a big group of friends, we had loads of fun and banter on race nights. Lynn, as a team, didn't win the league or anything but it didn't matter, we witnessed some great riders and great racing (as it happens lol). I now stand with a good group of people, the banter has gone but we back our team 100%, we like good racing but I think for us it's most important for Lynn to win. This year has been testing to say the least but it's easy to find positives from every meeting.

  25. They want something in place for 2024 so we can start fresh then, racing all next year at the showground, only a small first stage development in one corner of the showground atm, next year will be fine

  28. Fair play for doing it but it does not mean you know anything per day about speedway more you can design and run a game. Maybe you know lots about computing …… I was chairman of a football club for free with no pay for several years doesn’t mean I know everything about football just means I know about the business model which is greatly different to football itself.

  29. Some miserable old buggers on here... somebody has taken the time and trouble to create some extra Speedway content for fans to listen to, costing him time (and probably money), just comes on here to publicise it and all anybody can do is be negative about it. If you don't want to listen to this FREE podcast, don't download it, move along. Why would you not want to listen to Dan Bewley talk about his maiden GP win and his career in Speedway? How about giving it a listen before condemning it? Come on cheer up fellas, you're better than this

  30. That is the problem now with all social media.I wouldn't think this is the only site where things like this happen.Best thing is to quit all sites of this kind. Many high profile sports stars etc get all kinds of rubbish put on various sites.Best thing is to not take any notice, which undoubtedly is hard or just quit these sites all together.I don't do facebook, twiitter etc so this is the only site i get some speedway information, banter etc.

  31. I have to say I, too, used to find it tiring when riders constantly talked about getting "the right set up" or other such technical issue. Personally I think fans don't generally want to hear about the mechanical part of the sport but more of the human touch. One reason I gave up watching sport on TV because of the over emphasis on tactics and constant replays of the same bit of action taken from different angles and "experts" babbling for all they are worth!

  32. Looks terrible in many parts all week. Only in Speedway Faff around for 3 weeks mid summer with a pointless regional Cup that they now decide to elongate when it could have actually been all done and dusted tomorrow b4 the rain sets in (at Sheffield)

  33. We were saying Thursday that we think this could be his last season. It has all got to end at some point and he has plenty of TV work to concentrate on.

  34. No, basically the same, 7 riders racing for your team barring injury. Polish fans respect the riders, put them on pedestals for what they do, some British "fans" have no respect for the skills of the riders, some of us take them for granted basically and can't see beyond riders "gardening" or meetings not finishing in an hour flat! Poland don't provide their fans with anything more than their team and their track and a few flags on race night (I saw no evidence when I went to Gorzow anyhow) but we expect soooooo much more ........

  36. So it's Poole's fault Plymouth have got to have it Tuesday, nothing to do with the bspa ruling

  37. Plymouth quite happy to use a guest all season. Maybe they should have signed someone then if it is such an issue!

  38. A seagull could drop it guts on the Plymouth track and it will be called off, it’s a very delicate track, even more delicate than promoter Phillips ego

  39. Plymouth absolutely decimated by injuries and IMO they have no chance over two legs which is a great pity, would have been a great tie with full strength teams.

  45. Seems like the sport has entered a new era…. Exploding tyres (P boro), setting light to the tracks (Glasgow) added the the reasons I stopped going endless delays and teams of gusts and r/r , my only surprise is that there are people still paying £20 each plus travel to watch the smouldering embers of a once great sport. Nothing I read would tempt me back to watch.

  46. It is the logical answer. Too many people discrediting Ellis just because he is not at the top of his form.
