  1. Richard Lawson is probably the best value rider in the league on his average, usually double figures home or away.

  2. Think we should sign the Cook brothers and bring Lawson back. For no other reason than the meltdown it would have on here. Just do it Glasgow sit back and get the popcorn in.

  3. Just for the record PiratecastLive is a completely unofficial video and podcast professionally produced and presented by 2 Pirate fans completely voluntarily and not part of the official club structure specifically so that any criticisms of the club can be and are aired. (Clearly its usually mostly positive). Each live episode features a guest - often a rider, but has also had Middlo, Karlito(DJ), Scotty Mitchell, and SCB referee Christina Turnbull to name a few - all of whom are asked questions from the fans in the chat room. All episodes are available to view on You-Tube or to listen to as a podcast on all platforms. The lads intend to continue through the winter to maintain the speedway fix. Give it a try.......

  5. That’s very true and I was one of the dissenters. He won me over with his attitude and professionalism and after having a few short chats with him in the pits, he came over as a likeable guy who had time for the fans.

  6. He told his reasons when interviewed for Poole Podcast, that was straight from the horses mouth.Don’t know why people are still going on about it.

  7. he did say how he lost so much money at Eastbourne and then found out one of the promoters was involved at Plymouth .. once bitten and all that

  8. Stick. He’ll have a year on all the other two pointers.

  9. They also did a great job of renovating the stadium as well, which had fallen into quite a state of disrepair. In many respects it's better than what it was like before the closure.

  10. He was on a ridiculous guarantee at Eastbourne, saying that, he never sat back and took the money, all out commitment for Eastie. That says more about Eastbournes last management and a lot about Richard, good rider and top bloke.

  11. Really pleased to see on here how Richard Lawson won over the Poole fans this season and looks like 100% want him back next season. When you look back at the posts in Poole 2022 around the Basso departing, Lawson coming time it was pretty much the other way. All things considered you ended up with a good deal, he certainly didn't let you down.

  12. Is that the same as what the Edinburgers did with the German at Glasgow?

  13. Lawson approached Poole, fact and from the horses mouth

  14. I thought we were done with that myth now? Especially now Richard has explained the sequence of events.

  15. One thing guaranteed Poole will be the Team to beat next season as well. They know what they are doing.

  16. Could there be room for a Workington team in the NDL come 2023? Here's hoping!!! There will be a management meeting towards the end of November... fingers crossed... Could be a huge announcement coming that is for sure... Track is ready to go.. Ancillary Buildings; Security and Utilities are the next big challenges to overcome... So get your team requests in now Comets fans as you never know what you could be getting for Christmas... Do "We (still) Believe"? H18tory was made in 2018 and could be made again in 2023... UTC... 17. Out of curiosity how can you hijack your own teams thread. Just asking .

  18. On a side note just noticed a Glasgow thread has more Poole fans posting than Glasgow. Aw ffs really.

  20. Positive #1: Wolves only tracked six double-uppers in their seven man team! Could've been seven! Positive #2: The Premiership Pairs lasted more rounds than I expected! Positive #3: (to be edited in later, if I think of one!)

  24. I hope the comets can pull this off. The track looks absolutely fantastic . I wonder with Leicester dropping out they could be looking at Saturday night speedway? Maybe a season in the NL then work towards the championship?

  25. If you give us the details of the ludicrous amounts of money and equipment they have thrown at riders, as supporters, we will be able to come to our own conclusions of how our club is run. I take it you are Glasgow’s accountant……or at least have been given these details from them? Or have you been round every Glasgow rider asking them for the details of their contracts?

  26. Just finished reading mine. Excellent!

  27. They have thought of that.. Hence, the season starts next Monday....

  28. It goes without saying, the Facennas have been brilliant for Glasgow and British Speedway but the amount of the money and equipment they’ve thrown at riders in desperation to win the league is ludicrous. From what I’ve heard, they’ve also been paying a certain Dane to drop his average this season…

  29. i'm feeling Danny King will be one to move on, not sure why, but think he'll still be travelling down south, and a bit further than Poole. no idea on averages but would they be able to keep the other 6 and get a mid/low averaged rider in?

  30. I can see why they think twice home and away will extend the league programme beyond mid July/August... but they couldn't complete once home and away and 5 play off ties in one of the driest summer's on record... only in Speedway would they think this is the solution. The ONLY way it is going to work is if they get away from this ridiculous idea that rained off meetings HAVE to be restaged, they don't in Cricket, they shouldn't in Speedway.

  31. Play offs this year especially turned out to be a complete lottery. They need binned going forward they have no credibility. Only my opinion of course.

  32. Oh good we’re back to this again…… The promoters chose to go to the press with details of the proposed new stadium in a bid to garner support from the local and wider speedway community. At no point did they suggest it was ‘in the bag’. Speedway at Armadale in 2023 was far from assured when the farewell meeting was staged. Cancelling it and then the extension falling through would have been more foolish.

  35. I don't get it, these people are allegedly successful local business people yet they aren't able to do the basics with a Speedway club. You're right though these competitions do seem to be irrelevant to most of them, we've lost the CL 4's, the CLRC tucked away at Poole on a Wednesday night, unable to complete the CL season satisfactorily, Jubilee Trophy abandoned, PL Pairs abandoned, PL league meetings being run after the pay offs had been held, PL League Cup running after the season had finished... perhaps 2023 should just consist of the KO Cup as that was about the only competition they were able to run within the specified timelines! Any self respecting club owner would NEVER let happen what happened to Leicester in the pay off final... these club owners come and go, I was here following Leicester before they came and I'll be here long after they've done with their play thing. I'm still pretty p1ssed off as you may be able to tell

  36. Lawson would have been on a fat guarantee at Lakeside and Eastbourne and presumably Plymouth. Poole don't pay guarantees and he's responded in great style by upping his scoring if not his average. Fair play to him. Hopefully the BSPL will render guarantees as history as the Sport can't afford them. By signing for Poole, he's also had 2 semis and 2 finals in both Cup and League Play Off (8 meetings) he wouldn't have had at Plymouth, guarantee or not, and won medals. Win win I'd say for him, more income and more meetings and a secure future at Poole, more meetings to help cover what he was still owed by Lakeside and Eastbourne in the past.

  38. Heard some grumblings of three new faces joining the team in 23 For me, we’d be daft not to bring Connor Mountain in on a bargain average, can ride the EWR really well and good for 5/6 points away normally Potentially one of the Thompsons too?

  41. tbf the rain we had on the Monday & Tuesday after the track was "repaired" was pretty intense. Doesn't matter which way you cut it though, if BSPL forced Leicester to move to Lynn or the Bates took the decision to move it to Lynn... on a Friday night was a kick in the teeth for both sets of fans. Leicester did NOTHING to mitigate the move for the home fans... no coaches organised, they could even have opened the club house up and put the stream on a big projector, sold a bit of food and some drinks... may even have made some money on it, nope... nothing!

  45. Also makes a difference if a rider is at reserve or not in their last 10 matches. I definitely saw a few flaws when they changed the rules, I guess the promoters didn't!

  49. Official GSA's(10 meetings) are NOT a true reflection of recent average as there is a story in this weeks SS regarding this. A team could ride against 6 or 7 of the top teams & riders get a lower than normal average where, if you ride against mostly lower teams you would be higher. Also, there is the effect of rider manipulation where teams already in play off positions or teams in the lower reaches of the league will have less to ride for at the end of the league season so will try to drop their average to make themselves more employable the following year.
