Eh? He was a SPEEDWAY rider. Committed s crime and was released on license. Was back riding SPEEDWAY at Scunthorpe in amateur meetings. How is that not relevant to a SPEEDWAY discussion?8 points
-
Road closures for what ? Crowd will be no more than the British final for the final and I expect crowd in the semi finals to be on par with a national league meeting, will the extra stand be needed? Speedway in general needs a reality check, it’s down in the basement of it’s popularity and it needs to encourage people to go and you won’t do that by charging what is huge money for a lot of people, I am I suppose a target audience, I love my sport, I have been to belle vue a couple of times this season despite living 80miles away but I can’t justify £300 for me the Mrs and the lad for one meeting not including diesel, food, don’t try to justify it by saying well the price of this and that is more etc . over priced and IS putting off people going5 points

It is totally relevant He was looking to return to the sport, putting out PR that he had learnt his lesson and deserved a second chance Whether he is at liberty to take up a team spot is a key factor in the story4 points
-
I'm sure Chris would love to sign Scott but we all know why he can't ,it is great that he is enjoying significant successs in the Indian summer to his career long may it continue .4 points

I hear discovery have launched a new competition for the speedway of nations that you can participate in from your home infront of your tv, it’s called spot the freeloader in the pits, I have been playing this game for a few years now, you always get the usual suspects but the SON promises to be something special as nobody can afford to pay to get in at those prices4 points

I think the camera man has a bum fetish ….changing the theme music to “swing low” perhaps BSN stands for bollocks streaming network lol3 points

It should say “if Mr Kurtz rides in any polish meetings or any other meetings abroad in the next 28 days then the facility will end there and then”… this statement is an absolute joke!!3 points

Good to see the SCB confirm Brady’s injury and that the paperwork is in order. Now can you stop all this silliness BSF and wish him a speedy recovery.3 points

Back in April Oxford would've had over 6 points to replace Atkins, but either weren't ruthless enough / or very loyal & kept Atkins. You can be sure a team like Poole would've made a change, probably one of the reasons they always finish near the top.3 points
-
For me it’s a no brainier and we need to be ruthless. Let’s be honest Leon has never rode our track well and continues to not ride it well even as a home rider , it’s just one of those matches that aren’t suited. Signing Riss would strengthen us significantly home and away.2 points

Riss for Leon is a straight swap with 0.74 left over and not counting any 2.5% Brit discount.2 points

Makes sense if I remember paying around £45 for two for both nights..... At the time I remember thinking what "great value" it was considering I paid not much less than that to watch the Aces, and now had the chance to see the Worlds best in action for just a few quid more.. My lad paid £55 for a standing ticket for me as a Father's Day present which I am obviously grateful for, but personally think it is an outrageous sum for such a minority sport...2 points

There's an old sign dumped in the maintenance yard behind the south stand that I've noticed... I think it said £23 Was this the last year that IMG had the rights?2 points

Don't think you've read that quite right, Sedgmen guests for Palm Toft and Ablitt is back from injury.2 points
-
That it clashes with Oxford v Workington If it really was the NDLRC Luke Killeen would be in it and the Cheetahs using a guest. But it isn't and Killeen is riding for Oxford, not in some jumped up open junior meeting.2 points

That's some skill, must have been trained up in that last time he was in prison?!? They say men can't multi-task2 points
-
Updates said that Scott had a bike issue in heat one - he didn't, he was squeezed on the inside of turn one and went onto the centre green to avoid hitting Thompson. Not a re-run though because he went for that line which then wasn't there!2 points
-
It's a good few years ago now, but I used to go quite often too (could be there in under a hour straight from work) when you could stand on the back straight. Saw some brilliant racing. And, when the Aces were visiting way way back when, Owlerton was never better than Wyer & Wilson v PC & Mort imho.2 points

Been in lot worse stadiums than AFA. One in Sheffield somehow springs to mind.2 points

Well at least races can be won from any of the FOUR gates unlike a dump called "Howlertune"2 points

This poster has got a massive issue with Buster Chapman and consequently the stadium he owns. Best ignored.2 points

I don’t think anyone hates him as such he is a steady Eddie type rider and will always chip in with important points. It is and it’s just my opinion he replaced a box office rider in Basso and let’s be honest who would you rather watch. unfortunately diluting the product has ensured riders like Basso had too move onto pastures new.1 point

There was a lovely view of Paul Hurry's ball sack in tonight's match Redcar vs Oxford just before the super heat1 point

They didn't have the big temporary stand in 2021, if the prices this year are to pay for that it seems an almost suicidal commercial decision.1 point

We were talking last night about some of the young uns riding in the championship, premiership and in Poland and whether they are stretching themselves a bit too thin - then saw that Bailey had left Poland at 2am to get to Sheffield, surely that is more likely to hinder than help his scoring1 point

Not sure. I've always bought my tickets in advance. Don't see why not as long as they're not sell outs.1 point

Funny how Poole are being ostracized after being told by powers that be it could be that title. As always in speedway the dark side change the parameters.1 point
-
Is should say, if he feels he can give it a go then he has to wait until his next UK fixture to try it. Trying it abroad will not be tolerated by the UK even if there is a gap of nearly three weeks between fixtures. Give your head a wobble and stop trying to make an issue when one isn’t there. You do know where we now stand in the pecking order don’t you? It’s like the Isle of Wight saying Emil is banned if he doesn’t host the next meat raffle.1 point

Scunny have a good top 5, all riders get a ride, so I don't see r/r as a weak option. Look at Poole, used a guest who scored 0 when they could have used r/r. Maybe r/r saves money, doesn't mean that's why they've done it. But definitely should be stronger at reserve, former Monarch Jacob Hook being an obvious guest choice. EDIT A further thought, from Scunny's point of view, you could say "what's the point of having a NL side if you don't give riders a chance" but Simpson isn't a strong NL rider, especially compared to Jody Scott who's averaging 9+ so deserves his chances with Oxford?1 point
-
In this match number 3 could be easier, gets an extra race against Lambert & a reserve in heat 12, rather than Mountain & a reserve in heat 8.1 point

Yes statement issued by HNGS with regards new location for the Heathens. HNGS Ltd 5th Statement and update. In our last statement we mentioned a pre planning application as copied here below :- A project of a 10 acre site including car parking approximately 2 miles outside the Borough of Dudley was submitted back in November 2023 and a decision/ outcome February 2024. This P/A above was rejected by the Council. This was to be expected. However by submitting this P/A it has given us a list of Council concerns with which we can now work on. HNGS Ltd along with HSST are now in the process of obtaining the help from a company based in Bridgnorth called Strategic Liesure and a top planning consultant from London called LDR Planning Ltd. Planning issues such as noise concerns, transport and highways, architectural plans, landscape and visual impact etc are all going to be included within the planning work. Naturally all this work by the individual specialists will take some time before a second application can be submitted. Your support and patience are appreciated and we will inform you when the next steps are ready to be taken. Regards HNGS Ltd.1 point

Farndon did fall a lot in his early days. It was probably due to his leg trailing style of riding as he leaned his bike over and nearer to the ground than other riders of his time. The other reason that his scoring wasn't as high as it perhaps might have been was he suffered from engine failures. In the days before riders had armies of mechanics and helpers in the pits, Farndon just wasn't very good at machine maintenance. It was said that Freddie Mockford used to send someone round the track after every one of Farndon's race to pick up the bits that fallen off his bike during the race.1 point

Birmingham with no Freddie put up a better fight at Sheffield than Belle Vue, not good travellers.1 point

Cook had what sounds like a nasty spill at Ipswich tonight and had to withdraw. Hopefully just a precaution and he’ll be okay. Better not look into guests and post them cause I’ll just get told off again1 point

Development Series?! Rider Championship?! Same riders - what's the problem? most of those attending (mainly regular Poole fans) won't give 2 hoots.1 point

It would be a curious thing to do to tell your 1 and 5 to lose a 5-1 in heat 13 when they had generally been dominating their opposite numbers up to that point. Surely you would be encouraging them to do the opposite and secure a 5-1 for their team?1 point
-
Good to see Pickering giving it 100% in heat 13. His efforts helped prevent a Monarchs tac sub in heat 14 and a potential 5-1 which would have made heat 15 even more interesting. I hate it when fans say we should have lost a 5-1 so we can use a tactical in another race.1 point
