Image if speedway had drawn in decent crowds consistently & was a consistently profitable business, not subject to massive booms & busts. Ipswich would be one of the best tracks in the world. Foxhall built as a speedway stadium in 1950 the track was what is now the stock car circuit. Unfortunately due to the sport losing popularity in the 60s speedway closed & the stocks carried on, eventually seeing the circuit covered in tarmac. If the money was in speedway I’m sure that the current lease holders would happily have the speedway track reinstated on the outside, or the speedway would actually be able to afford to operate the stadium theirselves. Given none of that will happen we have to make due with what we have & feel content that we have one of if not the most forward looking & professional promotions, while also enjoying the best crowds in the uk.

Just caught up on this meeting earlier, decent meeting. Why oh why do we need the superheat? A draw is a draw. Nothing wrong with that. Only time you should need a superheat is if both teams are level on aggregate for the bonus. Looking like a Witches / Lions final this year.

That was some last heat from the Redcar/Berwick match, excellent race.

The criticism of the track may well be valid but some level of criticism must lay with the riders who on today’s machine can rarely adapt to different track conditions and it makes the racing boring because of the set up and the general lack of rider skills with most on gate and go bikes but little track craft. Give the riders four track spares and ask them to race and then you will separate the men from the boys. Until you have an affordable level playing field races will be strung out because riders have simply lost the art/skill of riding to the conditions rather than the set ups.

I agree but the point Ian made was that they don't even show you it during a race if they can avoid it, even a rider sliding off innocuously they immediately cut away. It's frustrating when the commentator is talking about it but you can't see it, I suppose it's just another example of the nanny state we live in these days. Like everyone else I don't want to see any rider injured but crashes and falls are part & parcel of the sport we love, yet they are removed from our view. edit; there's not many more violent sports than boxing, soon they'll be cutting away when someone gets decked.

I think maybe your make a good point about the age thing, being a senior statesman so to speak comes with a few responsilbilites, plus the desire to pass knowledge on. My tigers mate who attends every week - (and me) noticed how good Tai was with the younger lads, his team riding efforts were really good!

Barry's involvement means he has peewee races before, at the interval and after the meeting, something which you don't see on the streams but he gets them well involved and makes the do a little victory lap and a wave to the crowd, I know how much this means to the little riders because my boy is one of them. all he talks about is when the next my first skid or meeting he can ride at and that's all down to Barry and his involvement. The crowds seem to be down to the move to Saturday night's and the social media team they have buzzing people up in the run up to every meeting, people are bringing people along now and we now see countless posts of people saying 'its my first time and I will be back for sure'. If this Saturday is anything like the last you actually have to get there early now if you want to get a seat in the grandstand. There was over 100 kids in the kids race too, excellent to see.

To be honest I didn’t see Ellis, King, Brennan,Thompson, Lawson, Kildermand, Klleen or Wright wobbling around. Edward’s & The number 4 from Oxford did struggle a bit but it certainly wasn’t wobbling around. Plenty of criticism always thrown at the Ipswich track however plenty of riders seems happy to ride fro Ipswich & our gates are by far the healthiest in the league. We can’t all have the council build us a shiny new stadium.

Could you kindly put forward a big bag or two of cash to purchase the stadium from the owners then the stock car promotion, and a few more bags of cash to completely alter the stadium with a bigger stock car track and bigger speedway track more suitable? don’t necessarily disagree with the points about the suitability of the track shape but you make it sound like negligence on the Ipswich promotions part that they’re not moving with the times and making the track much bigger with zero grasp of a realistic solution. louis has altered the track banking and shape 4-5 times over the past few years doing his best to try and improve the racing within the confines of the stock car track and while it’s still quite one dimensional when prepared well there’s opportunity to go deeper and find grip to pass last night it was pretty poorly prepared…again stabdinng just on the exit of second bend have watched riders hitting a hole/bump mid turn 1/2 all season, can’t understand how it’s not been dealt with, frustrating for the riders and frustrating to watch week in week out, that hole was what Doyle was out on track complaining about and highlighting to Hawkins in the grade break.

Just because he failed to win doesn't automatically mean he wasn't a good manager, it's the riders on track that need to perform. Maybe GB were just never THAT good? While GB were always amoungst the favourites, don't think they were ever out & out favourites.

Or the riders could admit that the actually problem is the engines used in modern speedway but that will never happen

Dad's army was in the first year back after covid wasn't it when there weren't really any "stars" in the league, that makeup of team may have worked then (as it did), can't see it doing so again while the superstars are all at 4 clubs.

Can sort of understand it from TNT, they don't seem to have anyone in their production crew who know much about speedway, so maybe someone has said not to show crashes on replay while riders are down and they've taken it literally that the aftermath of crashes and falls aren't to be shown at all, TNT are useless for speedway. BSN you would have thought know better but, as you say, they cut away every time. Must admit I've had good value out of the subscription to BSN, didn't do it last season as I thought it was too expensive for the full pass but it's not too bad considering it often keeps me in on a Friday night instead of tipping even more money over pub bars. Been some decent meetings in the Championship, glad I took the plunge.

Drabik would make Stal a good side especially if Thomsen had a good season.

Drabik was one on Stals shortlist but after long talks the club and rider failed to agree finances so they decided to look elsewhere, not sure if anyone else has contacted him but I’m sure he will be in demand. Anders is now looking to re-sign with Gorzow after talks elsewhere for him also fell through. Current squad that looks to be retained is below: Anders Thomsen Andzejs Lebedevs Oscar Paluch Adam Bednar (contract agreed in principle - J.Holder)

Had a lot of mental health issues with abuse for his riding early part of the season and calls for him to be dropped, he said he has a good family around him so it hasn’t affected him that much luckily, really happy he has come good at the right time!

011.4.2 Guest Rider (G) b) a rider may ride as a guest (in an official meeting) at a track only once in an 8 day period (within that league) excluding Play Offs, unless he is replacing the home teams #1 or is ONLY declared in a British Development League Team. Not sure why guesting for a number 1 is different to everybody else, but 8 day rule does not apply for Klindt.

Yes I enjoyed the British Grand Prix at your track on both the Friday and Saturday but the Friday was something else but the Saturday felt like after Lord Mayors show.Do not know if it was with having them on 2 consecutive nights.Will definitely be back in 2026 if Manchester have it.

The crazy thing is.... Oxford is a perfectly good use case to prove what he says is wrong. Yet he keeps saying the opposite. Absolutely no reason why a Swindon return shouldn't be just as successful as Oxford's.

You're looking at the solution from the wrong angle. Most tracks cannot ever be changed. It's the machinery that needs to be reined-back - last night provided another example of how these super-tuned bikes can't deal with deep and/or patchy shale. Take the edge off their power, so they don't lurch or pick up dramatically at the slightest hint of a change in surface.

I will be happy if we get a respectable tally of points after our recent away performances. An away win would be good , but I live in hope!

Obviously I don't see Bewley as often as BV fans do, but I have always felt this is the area where he is lacking. Fantastic individual rider, but rarely seems to give any assistance to his riding partner. Before I am accused of bias, I will say that I have the same criticism of Jack Holder, although it is an area where he seems to be improving. By comparison, the way we saw Tai working with the lower order riders when he returned to Sheffield in 2023 was a different level. Constantly looking for them, letting them past and then giving protection. Chris Holder also very good at this, so maybe it is something that comes with age.

While I totally agree with that, it's not really a track where it's easy to block someone, there would also be no harm in trying, if Bewley lost first place by slowing up, it wouldn't have cost them anything.
