Villads Nagel is looking like he will give him a run for his money for best newcomer. Nagel hasn't had the benefit of starting from reserve but has been hugely impressive so far, he can gate, can pass outside, inside and cut back. He's had 7 matches and been paid for double figures in his last 5. Nagel has still to go to tricky away tracks Armadale (1 possibly 2 times), and Wimborne Rd (1 possibly 2 or 3 times) but so far is averaging above McDiarmid - who didn't have a great meeting at Ashfield this week, although unusually despite being taken out of his 3rd ride for Masters, McDiarmid still got into heat 153 points

Agreed. Easily the best two teams away from home and do not rely on throttle jockeys.3 points

What time do we start slating the track and comparing the types of passes made by riders against belle Vue? Just asking for a friend3 points

Everyone bar you on this forum will understand why Plymouth fielded such a team! Maybe they should have waited till next year to stage the meeting when all the riders are fit and available, would that suit you?3 points

I mean the amount of time people keep bringing the issue of it being russia but nobody dares to speak of the issues that Ukraine bring is laughable. Media loves to make everything about Russia but if you actually see the drama Ukraine have brought and more shockingly how disgusting their people treat Poland as a country when they were given free housing, food, cars etc but still attack Polish people, attack Polish traditional, break Polish transport and hold signs at concerts saying “death to poles” but nobody moans when Ukraine are allowed into the speedway World Cup? Media agenda and targeting is a joke, politics in sport and as a whole is a joke, English people moan about these migrates but still think Ukraine is treated unfair. Nobody has been shown on English TV the city that is ‘war stricken’ in Ukraine but has now rebuild a brand new super night club with the funding from European money? Google Ibiza club Ukraine and see how fearful they really are this club was on its last legs but then had money from the war poured into it and renovated, it’s all on Polish news but you don’t see any of it in England, and be reminded that their president has bought two houses, one in Caribbean and one in Europe with your tax money.3 points

Lowest No 5 Averaged rider in the league. Oxfords 2nd heat leader with an average of 5.04. Yet Schroeck for the life of me usually gives him his 4 rides. Yesterday at Glasgow he scored 2 pts in his 1st ride. Then had 3 lasts yet he still got 4 rides!! Today was a prime example. He scored 5 from 4 rides yet Schroeck puts him in heat 15 ahead of Luke Killeen 11-1, Mitch McDiarmid 8 and Jorden Jenkins 7-1. Schroeck really is the biggest clown in the sport. How do people employ him?3 points

Dear BSN, Please don't show another Spires meeting this season as they're comical at this point.2 points

It’s only the Belle Vue fans who complain lol Hoping this will be the final … 2 closely matched teams and decent fans2 points

Definitely not passes on lap 1 are just the first part of the race settling down. I learned that this from a very experienced speedway mind on here.2 points

Speedway riders choose to call themselves professional nowadays because they have made no time through doubling up etc ,Also choosing to ride abroad . This means they can't hold down normal jobs. Back in the day when Speedway was a million times better, most riders had jobs and Speedway was their payed hobby. It's got way out of hand that even these ndl and lower standard even call themselves professional aswell.2 points

Absolutely correct IainB..I'm quite shocked that the Plymouth meeting survived with only two of their team available. It makes a mockery of speedway as a serious sport. I'm a rugby league fan of Workington Town, as well as the Comets, and I have always fought verbal differences with the fellow RL fans who ridicule speedway for so many reasons. One main weapon they'd use against me is the 'guest' system. For example Stoney guesting for a team challenging Comets for the title - how does that happen they ask. And it's so hard to convince non speedway folk it's acceptable (no it's not actually but hey ho) so at the next Town match I'll not supply them with Plymouth bullets to down me. Speedway is a great sport so badly organised.2 points

I get the context, my point is a sport, that wants to see itself as being taken seriously by the wider sporting public, should not be allowing teams to race for league points when there's only 2 of it's regular members riding. The fact that the rules allow this is why Speedway in the UK is in the state it is. Compare Speedway to a professional sport where their ruling body did step in: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/articles/cjeyz09313do2 points

It would be a bit like, say, Aryna Sabalenka winning the Australian and USA Grand Slam singles tennis titles. Think of the bad publicity that would attract for tennis. It might never recover...2 points

Doyle and Emil and King and Ellis did not have the best meetings and they still only lost by 8, you know that when the play offs come around they will all be much better, I cannot see how Ipswich can lose unless Howarth is more successful next time in his attempt to take Doyle out.1 point

Maybe the team will be left with riders staying at the same numbers? Every time Ipswich have moved the riders about it's backfired (Sheffield and Kings Lynn spring to mind).1 point

Leicester have lost RR for Becker... With that, I had them favourites for the title... Without it, Ipswich or Sheffield will comfortably beat then over two legs..1 point

Someone with a very high opinion of himself... But. Never backed up by results in any league he races in... The track always seems to be a problem rather than himself... Wherever he rides.. Yet doesn't seem to impact the great many who beat him regularly...1 point

I'm not sure you speak for 36 mil poles anymore than I speak for 65 million britons, I've found the Ukrainians in the UK to be decent people on the whole I'm sure there are 5-10% that are unpleasant the same for virtually all races on planet earth. The fact they are fighting tooth and nail to stop the aggressor speaks volumes, most of the other old Soviet block countries left as soon as they could and have zero desire to return to the Russian boot s, if Russia gets all of Ukraine they will simply use Ukrainians to attack somewhere like Poland or Romania next. And I have no issue with Emil or any other Russians riders being let back into Speedway GP. I would imagine 90% of Russians want this war to end and just have a quite life but that's not happening whilst a hundred odd old men from the KGB are running things.1 point

It wasn't IMG/BSI who took the financial risk going to New Zealand and the 2002 Australian GP, but the local promoters as far as I remember. How did the GP actually benefit the sport in these countries? I didn't see any particularly increased media coverage, nor any evidence of increased domestic audiences - then or now. I seem to remember the attendances - at least for some of the Antipodean GPs - were relatively decent but nowhere near enough to make the events viable in the stadiums they were being held in. I think part of the problem was that after the initial novelty wore off, the crowds never picked up...1 point

Anders Thomsen has officially signed his new contract for Stal Gorzów 2026. The announcement will take place after the play down match on 31st August, Stal have also dropped the match ticket for the play down to the lowest cost from any Ekstraliga liga 2025 match at 40złoty = £8. Anders contract doesn’t have a relegation clause unlike the one J.Holder has signed. The contract is worth roughly 1 million zloty and 10,000 per point, this is less than this season. Anders wanted more but other clubs were not interested in him when he offered his services so Stal took this as an opportunity to negotiate lower although with their original short list failing of Pawlicki and Drabik they needed to secure someone and Anders has vastly improved this season.1 point

I was thinking where did you get that average from, can't believe he's dropped over a point from his August average! Although technically he's Oxford's 3rd heat leader. As for Schroeck don't understand how Oxford think he's the best manager available for 3 teams!1 point

Rugby is a contact sport where even players of similar ability get hurt so it is very dangerous to ask players of lesser ability to compete as there is is very high risk of very bad injuries and there is no system to draw players from other teams except the youth teams n your club. Speedway in this country relies on a guest system because it is the only cost effective solution to the problem of injuries. I get your point though and there should be a maximum guest rule otherwise it could be a team full of guests.1 point

Agree entirely. Watched him on a few occasions on BSN and has a very tidy style. Not afraid to go up to the fence either. Hopefully, could go far.1 point

It gives me no pleasure to say this but even without all the injuries and the missing riders, Oxford should still have made the playoffs, but for very poor tactical decisions made by the management. Just as has happened in the past it won’t be long before fans start dropping off and the goodwill will all but evaporate.1 point

All these people with their gushing praise at Plymouth do realise that "Plymouth" only tracked 2 of their own riders on Saturday night don't they 🤷♂️ Yes, great, they seem to be doing something right in getting some crowd's in and they must be applauded for that, but don't kid yourselves that you're watching a Plymouth team.1 point

Regarding the track, I was talking to Steve lawson prior to the meeting he told me that as of 2pm they was that much water on the track that the truck/tractor were just picking the shale up on the tyres, so it's a big balancing act to get it right. Unfortunately the dry weather is due to continue so track prep will be difficult again1 point

As a lifelong Birmingham supporter, I wish Swindon folk every possible success in their efforts to revive the Robins. I have just been shown a copy of the leaflet beind distributed by the "opposition" and fully agree that it contains a great deal of inaccuracies especially the noise levels ("Can be heard from 10 miles away" "As loud as an aeroplane" etc) which are patently untrue, and which will need to be challenged. I'd suggest forming a group to formulate an alternative leaflet which could contain all the true facts - noise testing will disprove the "excessive noise" claim. Speedway bikes do not use petrol or diesel - they use methanol which is non- polutive, non- toxic and emits no smell. Speedway matches would be limited to once a week starting at 7.30pm and continuing until 10pm with 15 one-minute races of o ly four riders. etc. etc. etc. It will be a mistake to try to belittle what the Nimby's are claiming. We have to remember that the vast majority of the people living within the vicinity of the site will know little or nothing about speedway and will find it difficult to distinguish fact from deliberate fiction. so the more information that they can be provided with. the better the prospect of getting a planning consent. I was heavilly involved with the battle to obtain a planning consent at Birmingham in 2007, and know from experience that the hard core opponents will never see reason, but on the other hand, the majority will tend to be reasonable if they are civilly approached. The very best of luck to you. T1 point
