While talking of nostalgia ,for me nothing beats the BLRC CHAMPIONSHIP meetings at Belle Vue Hyde Rd. Jam-packed every year+ Fun Fair for after.3 points

Not quite on the same lines as the other posts but I bought some photo's off Vinted from Newport that were taken on the corner I used to stand with my old man after a few too many sherbets last week. The lady kindly put in a host a of old programmes that her uncle had left, opened the package at my old mans and they turned out to be his old programmes dating back to the early 70s and up to 2004. He'd sold them on just after Newport closed and I've somehow managed to get them back. Great Sunday afternoon reminiscing over lunch3 points

Home advantage Hardly gonna set it up to how he likes it. I could see him having similar debuts to Mcdiarmid and Bowes at Poole (maybe having to wait for playoffs if we meet). So Bowes would be a good replacement although be hard to reproduce similar score but you never know.3 points

Ended up buying the excellent stream. The journey home from Gloucester took an age as I stopped 14 times! Great win for Pirates who nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Lawson very tough in heat 15 to secure the points. 43-46.2 points

Christ we were spoiled in those days Mike add in Henka, Rikardson, Boyce, Adams, Gunderson, Neilson, Pederson, Knudson, Loram stacks of star riders.2 points

BV v Wolves in the early 90's were some of the best meetings I have ever watched... Both Home and Away... Ott, The Moran's, Screen, Lyons, Ermolenko, The Karlssons, Correy Jones, etc... Brilliant racing, with many last heat deciders... Then air fences came in to narrow both tracks, and laydowns came in to put power down on the track differently...2 points

I was thinking about the Pirates too...š Him and Leon Madsen at six and seven... āŗļø Payback for having to ride on a Thursday, a day when no one in Poole is allowed out... š2 points

Superb memories loved the British final at Coventry. Right up there with the Fours at Peterborough. Two of the best days out they were.2 points

I recall my Dad taking me to the 1975 final. We had to walk around the track (there was viewing all round then) twice to find a suitable gap in the crowd for viewing. Nigel Boocock was in attendance for photo opportunities to sit on his bike next to him. Ah, nostalgia is just not what it was!2 points

Brandon had aura. Coventry had aura. Poole have aura. Belle Vue have aura. Ipswich starting to have aura. The league had aura make speedway great again2 points

Neither did Frazer Bowes but look how he scored the other week, when poor old worky took you to a last heat decider š2 points

Maybe said rider has decided to not spend any more money on his UK kit until he gets paid?2 points

I don't know the finances but I would bet the BSI did take a share in the financial risk even if the local promoter had the most to lose. I am not suggesting a GP is going to cause a surge in domestic audiences but it can only have a positive effect. I don't think holding a gp in USA/Argentena/Australia/New zealand will be a profitable event, unless you take into account growth of the sport and sponsorship. The same could possibly be said for UK(if it was a single event), Latvia, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Russia. Discovery failing to grow the series is now causing them sponsorship problems.2 points

The BLRC at Hyde Road was always an incredible meeting, all the top riders a line up that was better than the world final, 20,000 crowds, and the fun fair as previously mentioned. I also loved it when each track had their own individual meeting The Golden Hammer at Cradley, The Brandonapolis at Coventry, the Internationale at Wimbledon, and The Pride of the East at Kings lynn imagine individual meetings and challenge matches drawing crowds today?1 point

Sorry to interrupt, but just thought people might be interested. Just had a chat with Middleditch to ask about Tobias's foot. Apparently it was just a sprain, and he will be back for next Wednesday.1 point

Was looking forward to watching Nagel round the wide open spaces of the Northside track , but the Danish under 19's is such a important event in the grand scheme of world speedway . He's not quite at Thomas H Jonasson level at missing meetings for a Scottish club , but its getting close .1 point

When my old man passed away in 2022 I found a load of old camera slides of meetings we had attended in the late 80s and early 90s - it brought back memories for sure! One thing that stood out was just how much more packed the terraces were!1 point

There was loads of great races back in the day. Before bikes got too fast. Watch any race with Moran v Nielsen in it.1 point

another great memory foor me was my first visit to Foxhall in 1988 for the England v Denmark test match against expectation England won 47-43, Silver top scoring from reserve and old Kelvin T holding off Hans Nielsen in one heat with his loose race jacket flapping round his face!!1 point

Unfortunately he is not back for Saturday, which is a shame as I suspect he would love the Workington track, our only benefits that his average would be 6.86 available for a guest or R,/R but I would rather see how Villads would go1 point

Yep I used to go 85-90 late teens with one of my oldest friends and his dad , his dad was a complete loon behind the wheel and we would have 5-10 near death experiences on the trip from Norfolk to the Midlands. As you say 10k plus every time packed to the rafters great atmosphere and 8-10 likely winners, Havelock, Morton, PC, Silver, Carter, Evitts, Paul Thorpe, Wiggy, Tatum and others no doubt who I have forgotten. After the meeting it would be a hole shot out of the field car park with 3-4 thousand cars all chasing the same spot , my mates dad would be going mental and would normally be in three near fights before we got out of the car park brilliant days sadly gone forever I fear.1 point

Looking forward to this one, be a tough test for the comets but hopefully we can have the beating of the tigers. Looking forward to seeing Nagel around the arena, thatās if heās riding. I see heās missing Edinburgh on Friday representing Denmark so hopefully heās back for Saturday.1 point

Thats a shame. I wanted Parnitskyi to win it but much rather him win with the main opposition riding. I well know "you have to be in it to win it", but still leaves a question "would he have won it if Przyjemski had have been riding.1 point

Taken from the Speedway Riders Index 1929-2022: Bernie Lewis LAGROSSE Born: 2 August 1939, Christchurch, New Zealand. Died: 30 June 2007. Career record: (1965) Glasgow; (1968-70) Berwick. NOTE: This rider originally rode under his real name of Bernie Lagrosse for Glasgow in 1965 but, when he returned in 1968, Trevor Redmond took some riders to Wales and said if anyone volunteered to be a Welshman for the night, there would be a bonus in it. Lagrosse agreed and Roy Williams was born!1 point

From Day 1 I said it wasn't financially viable to run in all three leagues. Higher ups need to take some responsibility in this as well imo and maybe they should help Oxford out financially.1 point

Looking at Fricke's astonishing win in heat 6 again on video and it looked a very spurious call from the ref... Is it the 3rd year now of transponders and they appear still not to be working correctly at all tracks, it was announced that the ref made his decision based on watching the video. Also, there were problems with the automated starting systema over at King's Lynn on Monday... Technology and British Speedway don't seem a great mix.1 point

There's one on here who wouldn't open his curtains to watch speedway from Leicester... but there is another who might have watched on BSN as he wouldn't have been bothered by the non existent dust watching it on a TV screen š You win some, you lose some š1 point

I don't know who the announcer is.... But I do know who Matej Zagar is.... And he gave my lad his Sombrero at Sheffield when the Aces won the title.... He could be worth an Aces position next year.... Matej that is, not the announcer...1 point

Kings Lynn always provide tough opposition their riders mainly go well at Foxhall and can ride the place They may not be as high as Belle Vue in the table but they are miles better then them at Foxhall as they have skilled riders like Kvech and Bomber who can turn their hand to any type of track big or small Hoping we can nick this 48-42 but will be tough1 point

Would have been nice to see what Drabik could have done at GP level. He's been really fast in both Poland and Sweden. However as mentioned above Wild Cards are very club political in Poland and a wc from another club would have been unthinkable.1 point

What's the point in having a successful national team if you're not going to use that for the betterment of the sport in your own country? The way things stand at the moment with the non appearance of Team GB... in GB, are that they are just entries in the history books.1 point
