  1. How many times have Poole pulled this stunt to get the second leg over the years.

  2. Put the semis on Saturday night at Belle Vue and Sunday afternoon at Ipswich then see how big the crowds would be but on a Monday and a Thursday both terrible nights to run a premium event - as for admission price last night maybe Belle Vue thought stick the price up as won’t be able to in the final as they doubt they will be in the final

  3. 📢 Poole v Redcar Postponement | Message from promotion Due to the forecast of heavy rain, we made the early decision to postpone tonight’s play-off semi-final against Redcar in order to save travelling supporters a wasted journey, to avoid unnecessary disruption for the riders. Our concern was not only getting the meeting started, but also whether we could complete all 15 heats. I also want to address any suggestion that we postponed to gain the advantage of staging the second leg. That simply isn’t the case. Having finished above Redcar in the league we were entitled to the choice of leg and had no issue with going first and wanted to get the semi-final underway as soon as possible. As it turned out, the forecast proved unreliable and the rain didn’t arrive until around 9pm. While we may have managed to get underway, there was no guarantee of completing the full meeting. For a play-off semi-final, we want 15 heats of proper racing on a track that gives the riders the chance to race, not just circulate on a wet surface. I sincerely apologise to everyone who has been inconvenienced. Nobody is more frustrated by the situation than I am. Dan Ford

  5. Glasgow supporters go to see good racing and I doubt if anyone will be abusing Poole riders win lose or draw.

  6. Brennan winning heat 9 felt like a key moment for Ipswich. Coming off the back of conceding that 5-1 in the previous race, he hadn't looked particularly quick himself at that point so it seemed like a great opportunity for Belle Vue to extend their lead to 10. He did a decent job in 13 as well to hold off Bewley long enough that he didn't have time to chase Sayfutdinov. Doyle deservedly rider of the night though, excellent from him in his last 3 rides especially.

  7. Not many have away from Glasgow, as he is usually in another country 😛

  8. Because our record there with this bunch of riders has been absolutely wretched in recent years. Consistently battered there the last few years until a victory there in the cup (when the track was wet and heavy and a bit of a leveller) and a draw when you were missing a strong home heatleader. The one time we did face you this season when you were at full strength and the track was like it normally is, it was an all too familiar outcome and we lost by 14! Despite spurious claims that we should be disappointed we didn’t win and win easy, everybody connected to Ipswich Speedway including Chris Louis and Ritchie Hawkins, would have snapped your hand off if a six point defeat was offered up before the meeting.

  9. Is that the rider who has increased his GSA by over a point this season? Who scored 7 or more in 13 consecutive matches prior to KL away? Who has the 11th= best away average in the league this year?

  10. I'm convinced 'that septet' would have done in the end but for Cook's broken wrist.

  11. Well they are hardly the Poole Mafia, looked more like a gaggle of mouthy g_ts to me. Not representative of Poole's fans, and very unlikely to put the effort into making the trip to Glasgow.

  12. Ok it's not cheating but it is skulduggery, every man and his dog knew Poole would do whatever they had to do to ensure this meeting was called off. I was looking forward to the return leg on Sunday but now I will pray to the rain gods that the gesture is reciprocated. They say "cheats don't prosper" but Poole Pirates have proved year on year that they are an exception to the rule I

  14. Absolutely!! Just a shame about their manager!!🤣

  15. Well what a surprise, not! Wish I could have had a bet at the bookies that Poole would call off the first leg with it being at home!

  16. Oh look we have a restaging sorted already. Someone teach Glasgow how to do it

  19. Much better result for the Witches than feared after last Thursday's non-performance. Lemon's obsession with Zischke is fascinating - always seeming to favour him over Mulford, even though the young Brit is just as likely to produce at least one good ride per meeting (and has a higher average).

  21. Yes it does happen however Poole appear to be serial offenders.

  22. You do realise Poole could have had the second leg if they wanted to because they finished above Redcar. So your argument is beyond pathetic.

  23. Rain forecast all day around Middlesbrough/Redcar area on Sunday. Might as well call it off now just in case.

  25. How do they get away with increasing prices for a semi final anyway. No the wonder people are slowly drifting away from Speedway, fleecing the punters is certainly not encouraging the public to attend. These days, when money is tight, to say the least, it just makes the Promoters look like money grabbing sharks. They should be rewarding their loyal Supporters with discounts, not making them pay through the nose. I don't agree with the 'play offs' anyway, but this takes the biscuit.

  26. The forecast this morning for Poole was 95% chance of rain from 18.00 hours, if it hadn't been cancelled, it would have been why wasn't it cancelled bla bla bla

  27. Can you explain what you mean? As far as I'm aware this isn't the first time in history a speedway meeting has been postponed!

  28. Agree but the way it works, Poland calls the tune and if you are a rider in both leagues and Poland is paying top dollar, one you will not ride in the UK or be allowed to ride by your Polish team and two you will not take any risks if the Polish team can claw back money. The answer to achieve what you suggest is to ride these matches in October but then you are at the mercy of the weather. It is what it is and the UK version has capitulated to Poland and it is unlikely that the sport will get back to what it used to be to be in the foreseeable future. Poland dominates and that is it and until the UK presents a professional package with top quality sponsors, a t v deal that promotes the sport to a wider audience and the promoters get off the backsides and promote so that the spectators who can create an atmosphere turn up in the numbers that you see in Poland, it will continue to be the poor relation. Sadly U K speedway does not create any interest amongst Joe Public.

  29. I can't see how this is as tactical call-off. If Poole really wanted the second leg, they simply wouldn't have offered a date till they raced at Redcar first! Besides who would make the decision on whether a call off was necessary or not? What happens if multiple play-off matches were postponed, team in 4th could become champions without having to race!

  31. Yes what is it with all these Tuesday meetings? They used to say we had to race on a Wednesday or crowds would be low.

  34. I would estimate about 2000 Max... The mainstand was about half full (900 or so), with possibly over 1000 on the back straight (there was still loads of room there)... There was the usual lack of local promoting of the play offs, however, I believe Granada Reports mentioned it at around half six, (just over an hour before start!)... Amazed people didn't put their teas down and get themselves down there!!! I have only been once this season so I got there around 6.45 to try and get a space on Kirky Lane, (as I remember these spaces usually get filled quickly), and half the road was available, which tended to suggest there and then that the crowd wasn't going to be "bumper".. I have said many times, Speedway needs to find a way to get Away Fans in attendance in decent numbers... There may have been Witches fans there last night but they were few and far between... Ironically, given the home crowd levels, the Aces do take a decent following away and I remember around 150 or more at Ipswich a couple of seasons ago for the first leg of the POSF.. And obviously 400 or so at Sheffield and around 300 at Leicester when they won their recent titles.. 150 Witches fans, either sat together or stood together, would have given the meeting the feeling of being an "event", (that a POSF should be seen as), rather than the mundane, run of the mill, evening it ended up being.. No idea why clubs don't subsidise Away Fans admission (huge reductions), given so very few go now.. It would raise the atmosphere levels massively...

  38. Beaten twice by an impressive Doyle, once by Brennan in the heat where Cook dropped his only point of the night and by Thompson who of course in his previous visit beat Kurtz So 5 paid 7 where your main partner scores 11 out of 12 isn't so shabby in reality

  39. I would have snapped your hand off for 10/12 at the end of Heat 8. I thought it was a tremendous team performance to draw the second half.

  44. Well slight advantage to the Witches I reckon but would suggest no one gets cocky as we all remember 2023!! Not a great night for Emil he was slow away and lacked speed - Jason had a couple of those rides that remind you what a top rider he is! One of two really good races tonight - thought Dan T did well considering he was in the main body of the team and had to face Zach twice DanB and Brady in his 4 rides!! pleased for Jason Edwards too a decent performance to outshine his opposite number! enjoyed it anyway and looking forward to Thursday!
