  1. I’m fairly confident no Poole fans will be on this thread saying we should be favourites for anything. Disappointing signing, Edinburgh got the best of him last season bringing him in on a low average. If my maths is correct he averaged 5.91 after moving to number one last season so is on an inflated average due to his fantastic form whilst riding at reserve.

  2. And in one post you have encapsulated the sentiment of one family. My dad, his two sons( I’m one) his four grandchildren. We have an evening together. Cheap burgers and chips. The smell the sound. The joy or disappointment win or loose we go and enjoy ourselves. Entertainment and a place to be together matters. winning would be nice but the sport we all connect though matters more.

  3. It looked like Workington would be consigned to the history books not all that long ago. I think you'd be mental if you're feeling alienated because Jacob Hook hasn't been signed.

  4. Yes I didn’t even consider him not coming back , for me he was nailed on for next years team. Guess it goes to show you never know what’s coming during team building. Im assuming the promotion have our full team already in place now so time will tell what our 1-7 looks like, but id like to thank Jacob for all his efforts this year great to watch and top fella hope to see him with a team soon!

  5. Yeah but Tobi is Danish so they have priority. Also Richard is sharing a team place with Timo Lahti in the Brovst squad.

  9. Yes always thought he went well at Plymouth, good signing I shall miss him and his doughnuts! Don't know why people say these things, makes them look stupid in my opinion.

  10. I also enjoy it, it gives me a great time to catch up with friends and we as a group make every away trip we can. I’d also like to see my team actually compete for a trophy for once though and that’s where I think we disagree. It gets a bit tiresome hearing the old lines such as “Just be happy you have speedway” etc just because myself and others would like to see on track success for the first time in a long time. The two things don’t have to be mutually exclusive, I think Poole fans and Glasgow fans alike also have similar bonding stories, they also get to see a winning product on the track too.

  13. It'll be good to see the European Ice Speedway final at Varkaus. Big respect to the Mustonen family and all the other volunteers at Varkaus.

  14. Worky / Northside have been chosen to host the FIM European 125 championship in August. Maybe a minor FIM meeting, but if things go well and the bigwigs are impressed, may lead to bigger FIM meetings being held at Workington in the future ?

  15. Heard plenty saying it is a good side and should be up there. Not only Glasgow fans saying this. I haven’t seen one saying we will win the treble have you or did you just make that up.

  16. How about a little respect for keeping speedway going for nearly 60 years in their remote outpost?

  17. although im gutted , hook would of been in main body on his avrg . thats a big risk for me i wouldnt take and unfortunately its just speedway and something we see every year . will of been a hard decission to make no doubt , will see what comes of it

  18. They can ask but, I think they would be told to get lost. (Or words that mean the same)😁

  19. The best way to keep fans coming back is to maintain some known faces of riders that perform well... Hooky had A LOT of supporters and was the best rider in 2025, yet doesn't appear to have been rewarded for his efforts (assuming this is a comets decision obviously).

  20. Please don’t shoot me for asking this but what average would Craig Cook be on after 2.5% reduction is he below 8?

  21. Lol. Only team in that league that would sign Palovaara on that average is Berwick. Says it all.

  26. Signing 3 VICTOR IS A BANDIT! Stewart Dickson has secured the signature of talented Swedish superstar Victor Palovaara for the 2026 season! Victor made a successful comeback to UK racing in 2025 and was a prolific scorer for the Edinburgh Monarchs throughout the season. The fast gating Swede joins Peter Kildemand and Nick Morris to form a substantial heat leader trio for the Bandits in 2026.

  28. Heeps on the decline, Lasse ain’t getting any better, Grahn averaged that from basically being at reserve all year, you’ve now got him in the main body where he’d do well to maintain it. Sedgy ain’t going to get much better but solid, So leaves you Jordy and kye to improve and Dan a little from by number 1. So I’d swap out over half.

  30. Sometimes it's cheaper to fly a rider in rather than pay millage allowance to travel, and some amounts UK based riders are asking is unbelievable, a foreign rider is often cheaper. Think about it how many young riders, good or not so good want to be full time speedway riders, without having a 2nd income !!

  31. So far then confirmed… 1- D King 2- T Thomsen 3- ???? 4 - J Thompson 5 - S Nicholls 6 - ???? 7 - ???? Personally I think this team is shaping up really nicely and one that could compete with all teams and most importantly be really hard to beat at home.

  34. I managed to get a chat with my local postman yesterday as he delivered a parcel and he readily confirmed what a lot suspected that the sorting offices are holding mail back and then releasing it for big deliveries on certain days, they call it streaming where they save mail up for delivery to save them doing the rounds for just the odd letter in a street, I am not sure how that fits with first class postage rates or promises but he readily accepts it’s happening and causing them long days sometimes when it’s heavy as it is this time of year., interestingly I still haven’t received my star this week which is somewhat unusual but it does happen occasionally.

  41. A photocopied bit of A4 is better than the the sport deserves. SS is just propaganda. Decent enough in the pre-internet age but hardly asking the difficult questions to make it stand out from other information sources. Businesses need to be their own media these days. Speedway hasn't understood (or embraced) that and it's just one of the many problems on the list of things that need to be fixed if the sport has any chance of surviving in anything like it's previous form.

  42. It kinda just is British speedway really. Old fashioned, naff and only enjoyed by a dwindling audience of a certain age.

  43. Just a gentle reminder Iain, Brian was a fine rider for the Sunderland 'Stars' for roughly three years in the early 70's. This is very sad news. Brian was a very good rider who put 100% effort in to everything he did. Riding, managing and promoting. He was a very tough Yorkshire man who was a regular attendee at our Sunderland Speedway Reunions. I got to chat to him a number of times, both at Redcar and at our Reunions. I respected him. My condolences go to his family and friends. R.I.P. + Brian.

  44. Sorry to say that I am not one of the parties mentioned in attempting to buy Ipswich - I do hope they find a buyer however and manage to make it to tapes for 2026!

  45. With a dwindling and ageing supporter base, what does the Speedway Star offer to entice the younger generation to purchase it? The same goes basically to most speedway teams, what do they offer to entice the next generation of fans?

  46. Wouldn't say that forms a substantial heat leader trio
