Earlier in the winter there was a thought that radical change could be coming. Its certainly been a radical winter a u turn on ownership at Sheffield, Louis leaving Ipswich, Ipswich confirmed as running but no idea who is running it. As far as radical change in how the sport is run which is needed well that’s zero change. I find it staggering that it’s more of the same.8 points

Seems positive from the club on pending signings saying at no point they have struggled to attract riders and that the final pieces arent far away so i think rather then negativity the clubs activity should be looked at with optimism as to giving fans the best side to allow the team be best served for a title challenge. I for one am excited for the pending news.4 points

Agree keeping grounded is important at such a young age. It's equally important us fans need to be patient with these lads, and not put pressure on them from the off. Hopefully they will be with us in years to come.4 points

The 2027 season? Don’t worry it might not happen (as the saying goes). It baffles me that some people think/hope that 2026 will be a blip and things will be put in place for a promised land in 2027 and beyond. The BSPL, as I understand it, represent the teams competing in British Speedway, but there is a divide because of the PL/CL split and own agendas of completing clubs. This insistence of clinging on to a top tier is becoming ridiculous, as has been proved for 2026. The sport has never been in a position to introduce promotion/relegation (yes it was tried a few years ago, move on), simply because it cannot generate a wide enough interest. Forget league structures, just start with getting teams to confirm that they will compete for a future season on preferred race nights. Build from there. See what league structure options are available on this basis. Only at this point should available riders be looked at. GP level riders will no doubt be unaffordable/uninterested, but you have to cut your cloth as they say. Nothing will change of course because UK speedway cannot accept/understand that the financial demands of top riders continually eat in to unsustainable resources.4 points

Just take a look at the last 10 years of the u21 final. 13 of the 18 that appeared in 2016 final aren't riding anymore. The 8 in the u19 final that weren't in the 21 final aren't riding either. 21 riders that would be hitting 29-31 this year lost to the sport.3 points

with the new rules, would riders like Richie Worrall, Steve Boxall & Lee Complin get average reductions? Be a bizarre situation if you get an average reduction because you couldn't ride when you were banned! But with Speedway you never know. It appears you can get an average reduction if you were unable to ride because you were in jail?3 points

The term ”anti-climax” comes to mind. Nothing in the statement addresses the broader challenges around competitiveness, sustainability and engagement. Highlighting the Pairs gate selection change is cosmetic and an insult, delivered by an organisation blatantly keen to demonstrate that change has occurred, rather than one prepared to confront the scale of change required. As a Glasgow fan, I appreciate we’re in a strong and sustainable position, but that statement is concerning not for our future, but the sport’s in the UK. I don’t even know where to start with the Premiership. Three of five qualifying for the play-offs is a sporting disgrace; undermining competitiveness and credibility beyond belief.3 points

Couldn’t keep me away up to 5 years ago . Then it became the odd meeting because of work commitments. That effort to go now though has gone. The lack of respect for the people who pay the wages , us, is unacceptable. Kept in the dark, only informed as a last result. The lack of ambition and direction in the sport is unbelievable. Clubs telling the sport where they’ll race and where they won’t. I find that laughable for a so called professional sport. It’s on its last legs as is my enthusiasm for it. Remembering Those days in the 70’s watching Bradford Northern at Odsal are great memories. It’s a totally different proposition these days.3 points

Everything wrong with speedway in a nutshell. Jacob performs exceptionally well last season, beats some top riders, and ends up losing out the following season with no team place. No wonder young riders are giving up the sport so easy.3 points

Considering the numbers in the Premiership this is all that could be done. Rightly so the Championship promoters didn't want the additional cost. HOWEVER they need to have plans in place for 2027 before the play-offs. As next season will bring a whole wave of new problems that cant be ignored and needs to be addressed head on. If they don't have a suitable plan in motion moving forward if the new Poland restrictions take place there won't be to many riders waiting for a contract. So yet another "speedway elastoplast" wont be a remedy from here on in.2 points

Poland have already announced their plans for 2027 regarding rider availability and we've done absolutely nothing to mitigate this by starting our league transformation a year before them, it's not even been addressed... we seem to be just blindly sailing on, full steam ahead 🚢🧊2 points

Absolutely pathetic news from the AGM. Expected though. This sticking plaster announcement could have been made in November. They've been sitting on their hands for the last two months it seems waiting for a television deal to ride in on a white charger. Nothing about the shambles the sport is in now and how they hope to change it mid to long term, no transparency. Looking forward to things being even more grim this time next year and yet another bodge it AGM taking absolutely no accountability for the shower of sh** that is British Speedway nowadays.2 points

I'll start with a few. Josh Auty, Zach Wajneckt, Josh Bailey, James Shane's, Henry Atkins, Ben Trigger. Probably a lot more that don't come to mind.2 points

Yes as you say, exciting reserve duo. Jody and Cooper race and that’s what we like to see and why we go to speedway2 points

I'd happily have Rocket Man at Ipswich. Been a consistent performer for years in this league where his GSA rarely drops. Track specialist around King's Lynn and Leicester too which helps in a 5 Team League.2 points

Thinking about it, they should really have a rising star position in the championship. Number 7 goes to an up and coming rider from the NDL level.2 points

Same as our group Dean. We used to go anywhere to watch any teams so when Wolves shut I thought I'd do more of the same. The first season I went to 2 meetings then last season none at all. I'm thinking of going to a few next year but who knows , I might never go again2 points

Not a mention of the sterling work that speedway futures Ltd habe done behind the scenes, not a mention of who the new Ipswich owners are if indeed there are any, a statement that told us very little but what did we expect really ? You don’t need to wait for an AGM to fix a problem and it’s clear they have no idea how to fix the sport, carry on doing the same and pound to a penny they haven’t addressed any issues of cost either for riders and more importantly the long suffering dwindling fan base2 points

Hancock came over in 89, spent most of the season at reserve achieved a 5.8ish average. Started 90 at reserve but got into the top 5 quite quick over Handberg or Grahame (both had poor seasons) or Hamill (new to British League). Hancock was averaging 7.5ish after month or two of 90, making him Cradley's third eat leader (behind Cross & Pedersen) when he broke his arm. It was late summer by the time Hancock came back from that injury but by then Cross & Pedersen were out for the season so the team was being propped up by guests. Hancock finished the season with a 5.9ish averaged, really struggled to come back from that injury.1 point

They have a two year plan now... Year 1 - Do exactly the same as we always do... Year 2 - Do exactly the same as Year One..1 point

Maybe 10 year plan will give them a chance to change something. All the young Brits will maybe GP riders by then. With their forward thinking Premiership League.1 point

The reality of not seeing Top 16 and the Format are big factors in live attendances.Im definitely not a fan of the format or points allocated on the night.Just my opinion though.1 point

And all that ignores the fundamental reason Birmingham wheels was set up in the first place and that should never change, I was one of those kids who it kept off the streets, not everyone likes football or athletics or any other corporate entity that is forced into our psyche,?I know the campaigners will loose but it’s not about speedway or stock cars,,it’s about corruption at council level1 point

All this and that's it's important to remember one thing above all. Yes we have club legends and they will be remembered for all eternity. However as I said before the promoters are custodians passing through and the interests of the club it's history and it's brand MUST come before everything above all.1 point

In this week’s Star they have published the attendance figures for all the GPs and coming out on top was Warsaw with 48k. All the rest were under 20k with Manchester getting a combined 11.5k for the two days. Three GPs got under 10k. With all the costs involved etc it is a wonder anyone can make it pay. For the sports premier event you have to say the attendance figures are poor.1 point

Everyone seems to think that Howarth will be back with the Lions, so that leaves 4.84 for the final rider. The likelihood is it will be Kemp (sorry IainB!), but Sedgmen would also fit. I know Sheffield dumped him but he rode Leicester well when he was here previously, provided that he trapped (and frequently did).1 point

It’s taken options to be so thin on the ground that only now an Ace gets a look in. If the other members vote different to Mark then it makes no odds what he thinks or doesn’t what to sign off. Chris might think it’s worthwhile carrying on if he gets his own way again. It’s dangerous to stand up to his kind as the repercussions for the whole sport are huge, as we have seen.1 point

Everyone makes mistakes in life. Leicester fans should be delighted with Morra's return. He's one of those riders who's on a bargin average that doesn't reflect his true ability. Great signing on a GSA below 6.00 imo.1 point

Unfortunately with the points limit set at 40 and you need 45 points to get a result. Most teams are going to be over the points limit come end of the season, thus you have the situation where riders lose out just to get a team within a limit. For once I agree with @Woke23 a rising star position should be made for the championship as well, but maybe limit it to the lesser experienced riders, rather than the ones on the premiership1 point

Only taken 2 years to come out with it, but there is a sort of apology there: Morris said: “I’m really excited to be back with Leicester, it’s a club I have loved racing for. “I feel I owe it to them and all the people who I let down, and everyone who has supported me, to put in a big season there. “I just want to work hard and win races, and being back with Stewart, the man who brought me to the UK when I was 15, I would love nothing more to win a league title for Leicester.”1 point

Dean Have the utmost respect for you and certainly no intent to "shoot the messenger" However, and as a lifelong Aston Villa and Birmingham Brummies supporter, it does pain me to say this, but this sort of activity by anyone involved in Speedway / Bangers at The Wheels or elsewhere is not only going to end up in instant failure, it is also going to go in the face of a massive Private / Local and Central Government investment. The Plans for the site are incredible and will give the City and Region a Global presence. If I hold my nose and gag refles, I have to admit that this development will not only be the best in the UK but probably in Europe Central Government have allocated significant future funding for the Transport Network to link the City / KnIghthead Park / the NEC and Airport and Rail Network finally up via new Rail new Tram and new pedestrianised and cycle walkways. Local Government areinvesting millions in to similar projects. Knighthead have got planend investment in to the Stadium and massive local area in excess of £3bn They are looking not just at Soccer but facilities that will allow European / Commonwealth / Olympic sized bids and other Sports and the biggest Concerts etc. They appear to be close to announcing the proposed Stadium and Training Complexes as the new National home for the Soccer Lionesses from 2032. With the connections they have in US Sport (Tom Brady) there is a genuine move to give Birmingham the UK US Football franchise long promised to London and also the option for other US Sports including Basketball. They have the Film / TV Industry nailed down too with links to the Creator of Peaky Blinders (btw writing the next Bond Movie) and much more. As much as it pains me to say it, from a football and speedway perspective, any attempt to stall this would not land well with anyone in or around the City. If Speedway / Stocks have a sense of commonsense they will drop this, and seek a compromise site elsewhere in brown belt land and in fact there may well be options just outside of the scope for this development on the Airport side adjacent to NEC / Airport (where noise would not be an issue) . Wheels has been an option since the Speedway closed there, of it wasn't a considered plan then . now is certaintly too late. A site adjacent to A45 corridor around the Airport / NEC perimiter might be the best option right now!1 point

Lynn did 4 ndt matches last year. They built an audience and the riders provided plenty of entertainment. Enjoyed those meetings and hope Young Stars will be back in 2026.1 point

Having just seen the AGM Statement.I'm glad I dont support the Prem. The decisions made have no real change to last season and dont seem to look forward to the future of Speedway in the coming seasons. They still dont know if a Sixth team will enter the Prem, slight adjustment to the finishing order of the league, and a possible new tournament and it took them 3 months to come up with this drivel for 2026. No 3 or 5 year plan going forward,an absolute shambles of an AGM,just papering over the cracks. New Directors to the Board, what are they going to bring, and this Commitee of an MP and Harry Redknapp, that is absolute bollocks, they have no interest in promoting Speedway in the near future.1 point

I didn't get to see him in the very early days/at his best as I started going late 84, when he had his first comeback at Lynn after a year or so off in 1985 in the first race he blitzed Eric Gunderson but after that he could be brilliant, very average or missing in action to the point where Rogers eventually booted him out. I remember one night when he got a 15 point max (we still lost) but the team riding between him and Bobby Schwartz was the best I have ever seen in the game from 1985 to present day. To me as he was so tall he never looked entirely comfortable on a bike but he was one of the greatest natural talents for sure.1 point
