And right there is why the sport is on its arse because you justify mediocrity, it matters, the little things all add up, if you want the sport to expand to the outside world it matters,?every little thing matters no matter if you think it doesnβt, at least Phil morris understands this, first impressions matter more now than ever6 points

An important part of season planning for a professional sport as set out by Dave However as is seen through this winter it seems that others want to reset the sport to the level of a village fete.....5 points

You are using your club bias to forge a debate against other clubs, be better and that goes for all clubs, itβs not acceptable anywhere, your argument is well they are crap so we can be crap too4 points

Only just read last weeks copy of the Speedway Star and they do a two page spread on Northampton... Mark Lemon is quoted as saying that they needed a sixth team for the "integrity and credibility" of the sport... I do hope when he used those words, he managed to do it with a straight face... Fair play if he did....3 points

At last!!!! Someone who can market an event.. Give Linda a bell and she if she wants to get involved... You'll need her official paper bag for the tombola tickets...3 points

The correct move. Otherwise, whatβs the point of having a reserves list in order?3 points
-
Both Swedish and Danish teams do this. Typically the free meeting gets around double the usual crowd. Not sure that there is much evidence of increased crowds, but some teams do it every year so there ust be some perceived benefit.3 points

Perhaps, but by leaving it so late he has robbed someone the opportunity to plan ahead to ride the GP season and get sponsors ready for the campaign. Actually I blame whoever thought it was a good idea to offer him a wildcard, his GP form for two seasons was average (at best) and that was before the injury. He really should not have been offered a place.3 points

Oh my,someone DOES need to calm down, another one that accepts and makes excuses for mediocrity and poor practices and wonders why we are where we are and because you obviously need a little help the post I made was sarcasm2 points

And they were correct. At the time of your whinging that no promoting was going on, no deal was struck! So you were whinging for the sake of it. Youβre like an old bloody woman with your constant bleating! Ok, now a deal has been done questions can be asked, but if you take the time to read the press release in the Speedway Star, itβs quite obviously a huge rush job to get everything up and running in time for tapes up. Thereβs an awful lot to do, and very little time to do it but things ARE going on in the background. You were exactly the same on the Ipswich stuff. Demanding updates and answers on a regular basis, until Richard Coleman explained fully why those updates werenβt forthcoming much to his own frustrations. I bet you were one of those kids that hunted around the house for Christmas presents because you couldnβt wait until the big day to see what youβd actually got π Calm down ffs.2 points

Spent all the marketing budget buying into Northampton. Is it any wonder no one has heard anything given the numpties who have bought in are the same as those who have historically failed to run speedway in any way shape or form where it could be described as professional run sport. The only saving grace regarding Northampton is that it has kept the forum going but for which what else could have been debated. Oh well I am sure the numpties have it all under control.2 points

Surprise!!!!!!!! One off gestures don't work... A free meeting needs to be part of a larger enticement programme with gradual imcreases.. Eg next four meetings for a tenner each, next two for fifteen, next two twenty, then full price... With constant communication and feedback sought during this period, from those who are using the discounted tickets.... "Build it and they will come" only works in movies... The sport desperately needs people who can market and engage..2 points

Similar to my youngests only ever meeting he's comment was it's like a sport run by amateurs for professional riders2 points

Just to give a slightly different view of last night from an attendee. Yes, the delayed start was a bit frustrating and clubs should run to time. Yes, the centre green presenter seemed a little quiet, but Chase always makes up for that Given the amount of rain they had clearly had Andy Meredith and team provided an excellent race surface. The first few races did serve to turn the top surface over, but the racing imprived as the night progressed. Some were as good as any I expect to see elsewhere any time this season. I don't remember there being any fallers or race stoppages, other than a couple of tapes infringements. It wasn't apparent to me that there were delays in the meeting caused by catering for BVTV. Overall,I thought it was a more than acceptable first meeting of the season for me. Chris Holder exceeded my expectations, and, being an old traditionalist, I think he should have won with a 15 point max - but then we would have missed out on a top quality final with Holder and Bewley passing each other until Bewley established a lead and won. Could the whole meeting have been run better? Could all the entertainment around the racing have been slicker? Yes to both, but Belle Vue are not alone in being a bit lacking in that. If the remainder of the meetings I see this season are as good as last night then I will be happy2 points

The jubilant scenes from the 5k+ that attended the final, coupled with the celebrations from management, riders and staff, definitely proves it was worth winning π2 points

Another thing about the trophy presentation, it took that long to get the riders back onto the centre green that their was only a couple of dozen people left in the grandstand. It's not only belle Vue that it happens it's most places, the presentation should take part immediately after the race, not 10 minutes after1 point

About 12 days since it was announced, yippee we have a 6th track π The season has officially started, proper fixtures start next week, but still no team members announced no team name, no names of who is running the club π so I presume that because of these missing items no publicity can be done π€. Exactly.... The other night at the PCMT was probably the most Aces fans attendance that they will have all year, except for the play offs... No "first night back" feel about the meeting at all, no promotion of their first actual team meeting either... They do a 50/50 draw that got the winner 400+ quid... I would have raffled off a season ticket... I reckon most Aces fans there in the crowd (1300?) would have spent a fiver... Then do another at the first couple of actual meetings... Or do something like a Β£500 holiday voucher.. Something is needed on the nights to engage the crowd, with the racing just being part of it... And, do it right, and you can make a fair few quid...1 point

The Brafield team of the 1950's and 60's were called the Badgers. Given that Badgers are mostly seen dead on their ar$es they do share some other similarities with those who run British Speedway. They have very poor vision and they are creatures of habit who will follow the same paths for generations despite the dangers and do not adapt well to changes in their territory. Badgers would be ideal. All we need is a Bodger to manage the mashed potatoes.1 point

Could have been Luke Becker as the replacement if America hadn't started an illegal war with Iran π ... I presume the FIM will be banning all American and Israeli riders from all of their events π€1 point

Imagine starting a completely new team in a new sport in a new venue. And just over a month to go. No team name no players signed. No website . Absolutely zero information . The people in the surrounding area who are the demographic who would form the support for the venture know absolutely nothing about the exciting new entertainment which will be coming to their doorstep in a matter of weeks. A completely ridiculous situation and only speedway. Could f:;k up an opportunity like it .even hardcore fans of speedway are completely in the dark about iit.1 point
-
Majority on here seem very negative towards this new venture. A shame really as they need to have fans behind them. Peterborough, Birmingham and Coventry are lost and fans could easily head over to Northampton to give their support. I wish them all the best in this venture. Itβs going to be hard to start from scratch in a town not known for speedway. Hopefully the locals will come out to see what itβs all about and a fanbase can be built. Good luck to them.1 point

I want to share this disgusting comment for all to see before this individual decides to edit it or remove it. Name calling is one thing. Telling someone to go and kill themselves has no place on this forum. I had a friend who took their own life as well.1 point
