  1. This situation highlights the differences on either side of the fence. There's absolutely no way the Oxford management can keep fans fully up-to-date in a Sky News-esque ticker tape style barrage of information. Situations change constantly. So constantly that confusion would be the main outcome, with folks struggling to keep up. What are they expected to reveal? 'We have meetings planned'? A bit bland and unlikely to appease the news-hungry punter. They also most likely won't be allowed to reveal significant details of those meetings. The only thing that matters is whether the club has a future. It's a simple yes or no. On this occasion, happily, it's a yes. On the other side of the coin, fans can feel they're left in the dark, whilst craving updates aplenty. 'We are the lifeblood of the club. We deserve to know'. Well, yes, you do. But you only need to know the end result. The rest, if you're not a company official is, quite frankly, none of your business. It has to be kept in-house. The statement from the management is acceptable in my view. Good luck to Oxford.

  2. Was an enjoyable meeting. Klindt replacing the unlucky charles wright actually makes redcar stronger. Craig Cook looked like the Craig Cook of old, the new dane looks a real prospect an was well worth more than 2 points. Jamie Erherington looked way out of his depth. Tate needs to sharpen up his starts. R.E the track, this is where british speedway really shoots itself in the foot, it was dry all day and a suitable race surface should be prepared to last an evening meeting in that time, supporters should not have to watch tractor racing for over an hour on a cold night.

  3. From what I have been told that is NOT going to happen. He is very happy in his new role and no longer wishes to spend days on end doing track prep and he’s not the only one who’s had enough of the cantankerous owners and walked away from the club. A shame as he has always been highly regarded on his work and it’s such a shame that what was one of the very best race tracks is being reduced to its current state. A good track man is about as rare as a British Premiership Football Manager!

  4. I think for the sake of the fans it would be great if the owners and the ex track curator could kiss and make up,the track used to produce very entertaining racing

  5. This post is sponsored by the p in Dan Thompson's surname. Before I proceed, I have a query for the historical geniuses on here... is Glasgow the first team to track a declared 1-7 which includes 5 riders with surnames beginning with the letter H? Anyway, first meeting of the year at sunny Armadale and a proper chilly evening. Probably cold enough to make penguins pleased. With the punters positively perishing, a plethora of passes would've been appreciated. Sadly, we were left feeling particularly peeved for the most part. Papa Harris possibly enjoyed the most success, making it look p1ss easy in heats 12 and 13. The latter race brought the Thom(p)son non-twins together for the first time this season. A win here and the victor could be King for a Day. Ultimately, 4 laps later, Monarchs fans were probably requesting a Doctor! Doctor! The Tiggers comeback led to a last heat decider. In this one, DanT showed patience prior to a final bend predatory pounce which brought a posse of applause from the terraces as well as from a purring Mr Karlsson on the centre green. In the end, it was perhaps fitting that parity prevailed. Other points of note: Pathetically poor team management, not swapping the home reserves in heats 11 and 12. Imagine making Cami Brown look like the tactical genius on the night. Not-so-super Grahn gated like a demon but was on the wrong end of too many restarts, leading to a relatively paltry points return. Castagna, heat 9 apart, was an off-the-pace pootler. At the bottom end, Cluff was pitiful while young Loftus will have made his parents proud. KJP showed promise. Particular thanks for attempting to clear the track in heat 10. A tremendous effort, spoiled only by a trigger happy referee. Roll on the 24th. Hopefully it'll be slightly warmer... PS saw a cyclist earlier. I said, "pavements are for pedestrians pal" He looked perplexed. Pr1ck.

  6. Even if it wasn’t, the track was a disgrace all night. Wasted 40 minutes trying to rectify it and it was no better. Fella on the tractor didn’t look like he had a clue.

  7. We won 101-79 and are through to the next round of the KOC, what else is there to say? How did Workington do last night?

  9. To be fair, Mario has only ridden speedway tracks before. Thankfully Ashfield is a speedway track.

  10. Shame it took the tractors around 30mins to try and rectify the issues with the track. There were very few issues a couple of seasons ago with Redcar 🫤 I wonder why? After the grading the entrance to bend one continued to clearly show there were issues/uncertainty as the riders appeared not to be comfortable compared to previous visits.

  11. Was spot on for planting tatties, 😜. 45 minutes fans were left standing about with little or no information, no wonder the sport is going down the pan

  16. That's not quite true, is it? Before the close of play yesterday (by the time you posted the above), an item had been added to the Oxford Speedway website, previewing the Plymouth meeting and updating the situation. Obviously, what Oxford were not going to do was promise a meeting next Wednesday until they were in a position where they could, especially after this Wednesday's postponement. The Oxford fans are happy, if you're not, that's up to you. Personally, I'm overjoyed. At points over the last week or so, I wondered if this was the end. You can't please all the people all the time and this is a classic case. You'd think everyone would be happy that a speedway track is continuing, but...

  17. I see the Zeilona gora fans lit pyro and generally created a great atmosphere last night at Wrocław but as usual the short sighted authority’s will ban them from future matches, who suffers from the ban ? Every team should be encouraged to take pyro, drums, whatever and make an absolute racket

  18. Came from Sheffield to watch Josh who was great as ever, but was entertained by a fantastic fightback by Scunthorpe. The tie was probably lost before a wheel was turned but we saw a real gutsy performance by the the the home side. Must say young ingram looks like one to watch. He got faster and faster as the meeting went on and was worth his first win at this level. This won;t be the last time I go to Scunthorpe this season.

  19. I think the track didnt help both sides last night and we were lucky we won as the comets were in the points a few times when they were going to score more points even though jody was unlucky in heat 2. we also need to look at the track as you could tell by the lads faces when they came down to the 1st bend it was not good so maybe that didnt help us either

  21. There's an interview with co-promoter Tony Gaul on this weeks Speedway360 show... unfortunately, as usual, most of it is inaudible because of the constant sound issues on that show 👎 From what I could hear, Mark Lemon does get a lot of mentions.

  23. Didn’t really know what to expect last night but it was an encouraging start for the new lads. Kevin once he got to grips with the wide open spaces that Armadale provides looked better as the night went on. Mario on the other hand struggled big time the fear on his face when he saw the track was only ever matched by Leon Madsen. Anyway we have booked him with a psychologist pre next visit to tell him the track is really Wroclaw. Should work. Leons exclusion was one of the most ridiculous decisions I have witnessed by any referee. But encouraging signs for both teams.

  24. Did you watch it? I stood on the second bend with my dad and uncle and enjoyed it. If they’d have heavily watered the track and one of the isolated heavy showers I drove through en route half an hour before the meeting started had landed putting the meeting off with already 1000+ in the stadium that would’ve been a far bigger disaster on opening night than a bit of dust

  25. Think I will wait and see. Will buy my ticket once it is 100% confirmed the gates will open. Shame it has been such a dreadful mess…..communications have not been of a decent standard.

  26. Oxford speedway on 07/04: “Two entities - neither of which are us - terminated their agreement, so we’re unable to fulfil our first competitive meeting, throwing our season and entire existence into doubt before the season proper has even began. We’ll keep you posted”. Radio silence. Oxford speedway on 10/04: “Get your tickets for the next home meeting!” This isn’t just poor communication; it’s blatant disregard for the supporters of Oxford speedway. I feel sorry for Cheetahs fans who deserve better.

  28. I agree with this totally! If one of Harris, Kvech, Cook has an off night then I see a small Witches victory 🤷🏻‍♂️ around the 44-46/43-47 mark I know it’s easy to say but I’d have gone for Sedgmen or Kerr over Castagna and probably Mulford over Scott… but what do I know? 😂 trust the process haha

  29. Glasgow had the better team manager today & that helped them to a draw. I said before heat 11, I didn't trust Cluff to beat Hausl, I'd have Loftus in 11, Cluff in 12, Loftus in 14, thinking Loftus was more likely to beat Pedersen than Flint? Then when Tigers used a tac sub, in 12 meant it would've been even more advantageous swapping the reserves round. Brilliant ride by Dan T in heat 15, to a draw, Monarchs fans may feel relieved to get a draw rather than bemoan throwing away an 8 points lead? Felt it showed there was no need for a "stupid heat", the heat 15 decider was exciting on its own & "stupid heat" could've been a from the gate anticlimax.

  32. It wasn't. Good track curators are rare these days but Plymouth is generally the worst prepared track with numerous avoidable postponements in the last few years. Hopefully you burnt some straw to sort the surface out tonight.

  33. If they do i hope they do it around the back of the grandstand where everyone can’t see.🤣

  34. Are they though? Not so sure about that, track records aren't being shattered by seconds, in fact many tracks have quite long standing track records. A lot got broken in 2023 but only by fractions of seconds and over 4 laps. Also brittle or not, I can't see that having much effect on the design flaw of the bags keeping lifting.

  35. The company having only one named director (Lemon) is interesting - once speedway has been set up and is running, at minimal possible cost, additional directors who've been waiting in the wings may come on board with working capital, enabling Lemon to step away. Trying to strengthen up the team and do more to market and promote locally would probsbly be a priority. Question is how soon would that happen, and if so makes it doubly important everything's ready to roll by the 30th

  39. Sheffield fan who went to see a closely fought meeting and wasn’t disappointed was a great meeting to watch will be making the trip to scunny often as I can. agree with the post above saying Rushen and Cairns will win Poole the league both look smooth on the bike and you can only hope they will have massive futures in the sport. Picko managing to control the bike down the back straight on one wheel in heat 13 and still be chasing Zach Cook down for 2nd place was my highlight. only thing I have to mention is the speaker system was a joke sounded like announcer was in the car park needs addressing

  41. Kind of went how most Glasgow matches have went in recent times built up a lead then throws it away. Cluff as predicted awful, Grahn better as the meeting went on, Paco should’ve been dominating that heat 14 instead was pottering about behind his team mate. The rest doe their jobs. Thought Harris was lucky to not go in Heat 1, didn’t really turn into bend 1 and ran into the side of Dan T, bit of a cop out from the ref that one. Anyway good to see our season finally kick off and hopefully most improve from here.

  43. A game of two halfs , to use an analogy…. First half is the reason the sport is dying, track issues due to incompetent track preparation and having to be told how to fix it by the previous track curator who left the role because of the owners ! Took an hour on a freezing evening to sort it without a-decent explanation to the crowd. We were viewing on the back straight, normally great viewing point, but dust was just too much after two races so had to move to the home straight instead. After the tractor racing fiasco the second half of the meeting was much better with the close score and Comets getting in the groove and could have won the meeting if not for Vinnies loop when on a 5-1. Cook back to his best, Jeppesen very good. Bears relied on Klindt and Allen saving the day with the rest inconsistent but did enough to win the meeting but probably not the bonus point. overhall the diehards would have enjoyed it but went home feeling the cold and needing a hot shower whilst any newbies wont be coming back anytime soon. Redcar need better more consistent track preparation. P.S. Parked on the public road this time, much safer for the car.

  44. There has been a health and safety issue been raised before the commencement of the home meeting against Ipswich. Apparently the pit gate has hinge and screw issues. The posts where the hinges attach has become rotten over the winter and the existing screws need to be removed as they are too long and sticking through. There is a grave possibility the meeting will be off as the replacements are being imported from China and may not be here in time.

  48. Congratulations to Mark and the whole team at Plymouth who obtained a notable achievement on Saturday by having a record attendance for over 10 years in the defeat against the Pirates. Fantastic for a sport that needs positive news stories to see a club going in the right direction and the swell of momentum behind the club within Plymouth. It's fantastic to see and long may it continue.
