  1. For me the play off system stopped me attending , what's the point of going to a meeting knowing the result is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. You could support your team home and away all season winning every meeting, tream suffers injuries and subsequently loses the tittle

  2. SCUNTHORPE: Josh Pickering, Connor Mountain, Dan Gilkes, Michael Palm Toft, Luke Harrison, Ryan Ingram, Nathan Ablitt. REDCAR: Charles Wright, Simon Lambert, Jake Mulford, Jason Edwards, Jake Allen, Ace Pijper, Jody Scott. Im looking forward to the battles between Pickering and Wright and also i think Redcar might edge it at reserve, Allen and Lambert are ex Scorpions so i like think this will be a close meeting.

  4. My thoughts on the decline. 1 Amount of entertainment per match. When I first started going, typically 21 races including 2nd half. Now it's 15. 2 Prices. Saw an article mentioning prices ( for a top division match) in the 80s. Had admission only gone up by inflation would about £9 adults, and £5 pensioners. Now more like £25/£23. This means the price per race has increased from around £0.43 to £1.66 for adults, and £0.24 to £1.53 pensioners. 3 Amount of time a meeting now takes. Seems to take longer now to do 15 races, than it did to do 21 races, many years ago. Recently went to Buxton. 3pm start, had hoped that all 15 main races and the extra MDL races would have been completed by 5pm. At 5.15, only 12 races had been completed, and they announced there would be an interval. At this point I left. Many followed. Some were departing as early as race 8. Will those people go back?. Simply taking longer to do less is not more entertaining. 4 "Gardening" at the tapes. Just boring to watch. 5 Dodgy call offs. 6 Lack of loyalty to long term fans. Seems to be some very good offers to potentially new and younger fans. All we regular fans seem to be getting is "the match has been called off" Someone is kicking a ball about/ there's something on the telly. We waited long enough for this year's fixtures, could at least try to stick to them. Not all speedway fans like football. Don't they matter?

  6. I don’t know what the issue was but they also won’t have needed the flood lights for a football match in the middle of the day. I think it’s a bit silly of anyone to suggest it was anything other than a honest, uncontrollable issue.

  8. yes and the saddest thing of all ,because of that petty ruling , he was on the verge of signing for a team which could have fully turned his life around ,, now the people who should have been helping him to rehabilitate have actually done the opposite ,, and all these hate filled people who have never put a foot wrong in their lives and never made a silly mistake , have been given ammunition to fuel their hatred , and when he returns to the only life he has opportunity to ,Crime , they will be spouting told you so ,,

  9. The givernment are getting stick from people claiming they're planning to release tens of thousands from prison, yet in reality they're hauling the likes of Garrity back in for a few weeks just for going beyond curfew for spending the night at his girlfriemd's.

  10. I suppose the Workington promotion could always ask the Poole promotion the key to well attended meetings 😝

  11. Interesting that he says "Poland + One League" next season means exactly that... Not "Poland and One Country"... Which means DU'ing for many, should they decide to ride over here and not Sweden or Denmark, will not be an option... As for his ideas for Speedway in the UK?... All very basic, and common sense, however, they are exactly the same as has been discussed ad nauseum on here for around 20 years at least.. And are all clearly needed... Hence, you can only presume that those running the sport are acutely aware of all the issues they have themselves caused by their lack of vision... But that they simply don't have the capability, be it either financial or the individual leadership skill set, to unpick everything that obviously will need to be unpicked.. Because, given how glaringly obvious the issues are, they would have already started to do so if they were capable people wouldn't they?.. Having personally been fortunate to work with CEO's and Main Board Directors of one of the world's largest retailers, for many years, Richard Coleman comes across to me, as someone with the same political nuance and "bigger picture" skill set that I used to see and hear from those at that rarified level... Not sure how the significant number who are quite happy in their own insular, hobbyist world will receive him though... As his positive vision for the sport in the UK will be a million miles away from theirs..... Best of Luck to him though, UK Speedway is certainly as low as it has been for probably 60 years, so what an opportunity for positive change.. Should those who run it be open enough to allow it..

  14. Following the unavoidable -- in no way the fault of the speedway promotion -- postponement of last Saturday's BSN Series Semi-Final, speedway roars back into Berwick (OK, Tweedmouth if we're being accurate) this Saturday, with Plymouth's Gladiators storming the Shielfield fortress. Huge kudos to promoter Jamie Courtney and the good guys at Landels Electrical at East Ord (01289-331545) for putting in the hard graft necessary to restore the stadium to its full electrical glory over the past few days. Remember Landels Electrical if you have need of sparky assistance, domestic or industrial, in future -- always try to help the people who help speedway! Although both clubs are in action on Friday night (Bandits at Oxford, Plymouth at Edinburgh) they hope to be at full strength on Saturday night: BANDITS: 1. Peter Kildemand, 2.Jye Etheridge (C) 3. Victor Palovaara 4,Jordan Jenkins 5. Nick Morris 6. Jack Smith 7. Reid Battye. GLADIATORS: 1 - Danny King (C) 2 Joe Thompson 3. Daniel Kilma 4 Ben Barker 5 Scott Nicholls 6 Azne Grmek 7 Ben Whalley. The appearance of the amazing 48-year-old Scott Nicholls -- a 7-time British Champion -- in the visiting line-up is a huge attraction. Ever since he appeared in third place in the 1989 British U-16 Championship at the age of 11 (racing, and beating, boys up to five years his senior Scott has proved one of Britain's best, as well as most durable stars. Recent maximum performances tell us Scott remains very much a speedway star -- as ever, it will be pleasure to welcome him, and watch him, at Shielfield this weekend.

  15. Another abysmal display from Redcar apart from Wright , afraid to say that’s the season over with regard to play offs for the league , the side is just too inconsistent , you don’t win anything with one single heat leader , if the rules permit ( I don’t know) they should have kept Klindt and restructured the team to provide top end strength.

  18. I think what it showed, clearly, is that Leicester are the firm favourites for the title... Plucky Belle Vue will do their best as underdogs but it is so obvious that it is Leicester's to lose... Let's hope, for UK Speedway, that the Aces can at least keep it close if they meet in the final... 😉

  22. Wonder if Doyle will carry on with Aces after his 28 day contract expires? Not much of an off last night, packed his bags and out of pits during meeting, not that he’s any loyalty to Lemon or the Aces but if wasn’t something requiring medical/hospital attention riders usually stay in pits with their team mates. Suppose we’ll see soon enough

  29. Quite a lot to be honest. Bournemouth FC will have a much bigger stadium and with a huge increase of games on Thursday nights people who will want to attend both the football and the speedway will have a choice to make as the price and time to attend both will be a challenge. Lucky that Bmouth aren’t in the champions league as then they would have games on a Wednesday.

  34. Thank you for that response that emphasised rather than denied the point I was making. No one is doubting the quality of the track at Northside when it comes to competitive racing nor the commitment from Andrew Bain that has created the venue. But the team has struggled this year - and last after the temporary shutdown - and regardless of loyalty or the quality of the racing, many supporters won’t pay to watch a losing team.

  39. You must have some rose tinted goggles on. I haven't missed a home meeting since we started back up 3 years ago. Recently, the numbers have been down. There's three types of real fans - some who attend for the love of the racing, some who attend wanting their team to win, and some who are both. Constantly losing at home will soon have a negative impact on the numbers coming through the gate. Thats true for all sports.

  40. You listen to rider interviews etc and they all say the same thing, there’s no pressure to perform as long as the effort is there. For me, you could have the 7 best riders in the world but it seems it’s the mentality of the management of the club which is the root cause of the issue. It’s a case of wanting to be mates rather than manage the team. Can’t imagine the manager really inspires the team or gives them a kick up the rear end when they’re having shockers. No matter what sport, if there’s no winning mentality then what’s the point?

  45. Still this one, the orgainal and going over 30 years! https://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ The British Speedway Forum has been bringing fans together for over 30 years. During that time it has been far more than just a discussion forum—it has been a community. Members have shared countless moments of fun and enjoyment, formed lifelong friendships, including marriages, and, sadly, mourned the loss of fellow members. Through all of life's highs and lows, the forum has endured and continues to thrive, remaining a place where speedway fans can connect and keep the community alive.

  48. While there is life, there is hope. Apparently there are investors prepared to put their money in to Coventry Speedway. This has been mentioned before on here. If this is true, then the Supporters of Coventry Speedway and those with the interest in this Sport of Speedway nationally should support 'Bees' Supporters efforts 100% and that is what I am trying to do. Remember, the Northampton 'Foxes' started from a much lower base than Coventry will, as I believe that there is still a hard core of Coventry Supporters that would support the Club. Northampton started with next to nothing as far as support is concerned. Up The 'Bees' !!!
