Barker busted a gut to try and get past Chris but its not his fault the track is so narrow, it makes it very easy to block, but the way Baker acted after is typical of the petulant attitude he has always had when he does not get his way. Bomber acted totally out of character so whatever Barker said to him, must have been out of order.

Track was slick but produced some great racing, Zach's passes on Batch in heat 13 and 15 were top drawer.

Bomber has had so many brainwashed for years, as the ultimate team man and ride through fences for the fans, been making good money out of this persona for years, seems in his old age he’s forgot the camera and the fans could still see him. His statement just makes no sense when you watch the video, he’d of been better of making no statement at all just made himself look a bit silly.

Nothing wrong with the racing; hard but fair. Harris went over the top afterwards and should face consequences for it. It was described as 'loutish' earlier in the thread which feels bang on.

Back in the day riders turned up with bikes strapped to the boot of the car and poor Terry Stone regularly turned up at Rayleigh with dirty bikes seemingly having some sentimental value for the dirt of Bradford, Canterbury, Eastbourne etc. Eventually he took on board the point and eventually turned out for each meeting with spotless bikes, you could eat your dinner off the mudguards. Those were the days because as you said they rode in addition to the main job and it could earn them good additional money. For anyone old enough, after a meeting at Rayleigh the riders all met up at the Blinking Owl Cafe on the A127 and many a supporter joined them. It was a better time for the image of the sport and while the racing may not be as fast and furious as today, it was competitive and young riders were given chances that only today’s youngsters can dream about. Some made it others battled through but you got to see an aspiring young newcomer take on a heat leader and my abiding memory is Rayleigh versus Boston and Ivan Miller a grass track rider beating Arthur Price a heat leader for Boston. Compared to today’s homogenised offering the sport in those days offered opportunity and a chance for success on a level playing field with bikes that were basically the same and anyone old enough will remember riders winning a race on the ‘track spare’. It just would not happen today and more is the pity.

The bit about him not stamping on Barker could be true, hard to see with the camera angle, but he purposely rode into him, hard to deny that.

Plus the likes of Silver and Thomas, and probably more... These were "Promoters" who genuinely reflected the definition of the word... Rather than nowadays where "Owners" would be a much more suitable name.. The real "Promoters" knew that getting locals to attend regularly wasn't always the major priority, (if they did then great), instead fhey wanted volume every week, even if some fans only visited once... The logic being that that even that one visit meant that person knew that the sport existed, and keeping the team in the local public awareness meant more chance of more visits further down the line.. In short, the more who read about you, the more who know about you, and therefore, the more likely they are to take a look at what you do... Todays Social Media world would be seen as perfect by some of the "old school" operators of yesteryear.... (If they avoided getting banned!!!)...

Well Paul Hurry on Radio Suffolk yesterday said guest for Nicholls is Lewy Kerr for this meeting plus Olly Allen had arranged for Team GB riders to meet in Poland on Thursday evening for team bonding meal ahead of practice on Friday for WTC. Paul and Richard stated that as the Aussie riders would be riding in Gb on Thursday night and flying out Friday morning that is what Tom would be doing.

Well I enjoyed myself, there were plenty of passes, riders were riding different lines, no particular gate became a graveyard. The track did deteriorate over the evening but then which track stays great all the way through? Complaining about the track seems to be some people's standard reflex post, regardless of the racing. They are of course welcome, but it never adds much interest. Poole finish top of the league, regardless of whatever other teams do. Two things are significant, first the points difference Poole's is over plus 200 while other playoff teams are around 50, the second fact is that Poole won all available bonus points. Bring on the play-offs.

There is video evidence of what bomber did and fans at the meeting saw it live There is absolutely zero evidence of what barker did or didn't say yet everyone takes it as gospel that what bomber says is the truth when it could be an excuse to justify even though there is no justification for what he did stamp or no stamp he still deliberately knocked barker off his bike.

Show us this evidence you have then. There is nothing that I've seen on the live stream or online that shows anyone kicking or stamping on anyone else

Clubs actively agree to meetings taking place (usually away from home), knowing their riders will be missing but will already have lined up a track specialist ringer, or two, or three, to step in.. I remember BV once riding at Arena with, I think it was, four missing due to Zagar riding in his National Championship and three others in GP Challenges.. They brought in three ex Arena riders and ran RR... They had their best performance there in years!!! NB. It goes without saying that any proper sport, one with credibility and integrity, wouldn't have countenanced such a thing taking place and the governing body simply wouldn't have sanctioned the meeting to be ran..

Lawson gets grief for either being late or just on time, and for bikes not being spotless.. Yet holds down a full time job and has a young family... When the sport was in its halcyon days the minority were full time professionals, with the majority seeing Speedway as a very decent second income, with many able to earn in one night of Speedway what they earned for a week in their "main job".. Nowadays we have reserves trying to be full time professionals... It's total madness from a business and operating plan perspective.. Especially as winning any of the comps has no real value or worth...

Cracking meeting tonight played out in front of what was probably the biggest crowd of the season? Loads of great racing all through the meeting. Batchelor the stand out for the visitors. Best he has been at Poole for years. Zack Cook star of the show two weeks running.

So a fan suggests working to the top of leagues average which atm is around 44.7 ish. But instead looks like we are working to a little bit lower than the bottom teams average of 38.9 that is Worky btw @Neila 😄👀

Change of date announced for the Play-off final and 3rd/4th place 2nd legs which will now be on Saturday 3rd( 3rd/4th place) and Sunday 4th October ( play-off final 2nd leg) instead of Sunday 27th September.

Thsnks for the clarification, as Glasgow had been using 6 point guests for an 8 point rider, had assumed the facility had run out, mustn't have been any 7 or 8 pointers available. I hope the facility isn't extended, far too many guests are used in all leagues, but if clubs know they don't have to sign a replacement, why even try? I'm not suggesting Glasgow didn't try, but maybe they found a 6 pointer willing to come, but decided guests would be stronger? Not just Glasgow, all clubs.

That’s incorrect Glasgow can still use Kyle’s full average (+5% at home) both Anders Rowe and Jason Edwards average is above 75% of Kyle’s. The 28 day facility runs till later this week and I would imagine an extension will be applied for and granted under rule 10.5 K ‘retiring during the current season a facility will be granted for a period of 28 days. After which the team must re-apply for a further facility to the SCB Co-Ordinator outlining the steps they have takento find a replacement. An extension may be granted. In these circumstances a rider cannot return to ride for any club within 28 days, effective from the date of notification to the SCB

The positive social aspect of how the sport was, shouldn't ever be understated... Even into the mid 90's the BV riders would be in the bar having a drink and signing autographs with the many fans who stayed to have a beer... Supporters Clubs across the country arranged away meetings coaches and held regular social events through the season... The operating model was always "a bit Mickey Mouse" (but obviously nothing like today's Guestfest version), however, the social aspect of the sport kept people engaged and invested in the teams, so therefore they attended regularly... Teams who were, most weeks, your own riders, or riders doubling up who had been loaned out by your team to a Div 2 track for their development... Nowadays it looks like Teams are put together the night before, with anyone and everyone in the frame to ride for your club on a adhoc, horses for courses, basis.. And, some riders will leave the stadium almost before Heat 15 has started if they have a very early flight the next morning from an airport miles away from the track they have raced on... The whole thing needs urgent review and a complete overhaul and reset... Start UK Speedway again...
