  1. We do have the second leg to go but, due to other commitments, there's a relatively high chance that Monarchs will have to run fan replacement in my absence. I plan to serve my 28 day ban in November.

  2. Let’s be honest team building for this season has been a big anti-climax compared to previous years , Signing Hausl and Hagon were major red flags and even resigning Hodder was very questionable.

  3. Totally agree guests are not a necessary evil. Any professional team sport shouldn’t have the option to bring in guests from a rival team who’s performance could have a negative impact on their contracted club. Like wise doubling up needs cutting back & eventually scrapped.

  4. Once a national title is in the calendar then no other meeting should run against it, rearranged or otherwise; pretty straightforward you'd have thought.

  5. Guests are 100% not a necessary evil, as, if they were, then all leagues would have to use them.. The very fact they don't shows the sport can be ran without them... The issue is that now it has become part and parcel of the operating model in the UK, and fundamentally ingrained in the way the sport is ran... Providing promoters with lazy, easy to implement options, (and even a chance to improve their team), and it gives riders a chance to earn some decent money, (sometimes more than their own teams guarantee and points money)... In short, everyone is happy... If there are not enough riders then reduce the number of riders per team, (Denmark seem to run well with five per team, and eight teams)... If implemented this could free up 12 riders for next season's current six teams, with these riders, as you suggest, riding in tier two but coming in on short term replacement contracts... Or just implement a fit for purpose RR system which doesn't involve your No1 being replaced by two second strings, (or reserves if the manager chooses).. Riders 5 and 3 should be allowed to cover all the missing No1's rides, (f the manager chooses), and for the rest of the team, then the riders above and below the missing rider can take two each.. With a number eight coming in for a missing number seven.. You still then win or lose as a "proper team" and credibility is maintained.. The way UK runs its Speedway is just lazy and contrived, as they can plan in fixtures, with known clashes, and then just use Guests to cover the missing riders... Removing the Guest "Get out of jail free card" would mean a far more disciplined, and much better thought out, and organised approach, to the whole running of the sport.. Which can only be a good thing... NB. Tier two can still do "whatever they want", but the top tier should always be seen as a credible bona fide, professional, sporting league...

  6. You asked the question and the manager seemed to follow your advice 😆 so should you resign from this forum 😆

  7. Not a good week for BSN, with a meeting called off due to non weather events and another meeting not going the distance, neither the fault of the Network but I think there will be come a time where they will have to approach those in charge and tell them to get their act together because the clubs are killing their business. They can only film what is in front of them but if that is rubbish, people will stop buying it, it suddenly occurred to me why has the tracks suddenly become so hard to get right in terms of preparation and vulnerability to being called off? and the think the answer is Clay, until this season I never heard word clay and speedway in the same sentence but we hear it all the time now, tracks are now more clay that shale and it’s ruining it. Clay is cheaper than shale so just bung more clay on it, it’s like painting a piece of art on kitchen towel, it doesn’t matter how well you do it, it still comes out looking like crap.

  8. If you want to keep the sport at its current level guests & doubling up makes no difference because no one takes it too seriously. However if you want to grow the sport bring in investment more sponsorship then the doubling up & guest rulings do become a problem. Thats why Poland are restricting where riders can ride outsider of their league to limit the risk of those riders being injured thus damaging their product. I also recall earlier this year reading an article where at least one polish club owner wanted to get to a point where riders competed for one club in one country only.

  9. A great comeback from the Comets to win the meeting, well done to Jonas and captain Batch on a great 5-1 in ht 15 . What can you say about Troy Batchelor a great team man for the Comets for 3 years now, if he does carry on in 2027 he will certainly be welcomed back at Workington in my humble opinion. Hope the gentleman who had a fall in the pits is ok . Great to see the Comets back in 2027.

  10. Awwww. Martin Ashby. What a rider. I was totally obsessed with the guy as a teenager. I remember the first time I ever went to Swindon Speedway. Swindon v Wolves in 1974. I stood on the apex of the first and second bends. First race I saw - Martin Ashby of Swindon beating some foreign bloke called Ole Olsen and breaking the track record. Amazing. He had the best style of any rider. Take any picture of Martin Ashby riding, and you could put it into any other picture of him. He always looked exactly the same in every picture. So stylish, but possibly not aggressive or ruthless enough sometimes, which probably cost him a place in my first ever World Final in 1975. That race with Ray Wilson was over 50 years ago now, and I'm still traumatised by it! I even took my FS1-E to his garage once for a service - just so I could say my moped was serviced by Martin Ashby. After he retired, he was regular supporter at Blunsdon. Always in the same spot - near to the tea hatch going into the first bend - as though he were just another supporter. No heirs and graces at all. RIP Martin Ashby. What a guy!

  11. RHAG are pleased to announce that the Planning Inspector has agreed to our application for formal Appeal Party status (Rule 6 Party) and to change the nature of the Appeal to a Hybrid Appeal – a hearing on 21 October 2026 followed by two days as a Planning Inquiry on 22–23 October 2026. This is an important development, as the Planning Inquiry will provide a formal opportunity for RHAG to present evidence and make the case for the future of Speedway at Rye House. We are asking supporters and the wider community to sign the petition and submit their objections at https://www.ryehouse.racing/. All submissions will be passed on to the Planning Inspector and will help demonstrate the strength and depth of community interest in the future of Rye House Stadium.

  13. Do hope they can make a meeting of it but I just think Toruń have too many good riders to let 20 points slip

  14. We fell away badly. I feel that’s too much of an ask in the second leg.

  16. Michelsen is well up for it. When he rides like this he's one of the best. Just needs more consistency.

  17. Fair assessment, Loftus and Cluff only turned up on a few occasions this season. Which cost us a good few meetings.

  20. Luckily he cleared the fence without getting hit or trapped with the bike.Lools like a wrist injury though.I agree with other post Blue wasn’t aware what was happening.

  21. Nasty looking crash that. Blue should of been more aware of the riders moving up inside of him IMO

  22. It's Mitchell Davey all over again. Each year there's a feeling, possibly a fear, that next year might be the year he really makes it stick. Same with Freddy, some improvement year on year, and the feeling we'd miss our by not re signing him. Possibly Oxford may be after him following his paid max down there in the summer

  23. I’d have signed Hodder again but that’s without me seeing him every week, not sure he’s worth another season though at this point

  24. Two things about Bob Dugard, track prep and mind games. When Adam Shields moved to Lakeside and he came back to ride Arlington, Bob finished his track prep. Bob walked through the pits, then waled straight over and said," I thought I would rip the outside up but the thought, Shieldsy is here so I didn't." didn't have a great meeting. Then a year or so later, Adam Is guesting for Zagar at number one. Always interval after heat 10 but Bob came over and said, interval after heat 9, hes off 4 in 10 so let him know im ripping the outside for him. Adam scored 14 from 5 that night.

  25. There in lies the problem, comparison to Poland. British Speedway will never ever get to, or even come close to their level. Poland are rightly so, looking to a 1 club model alongside SEC, SGP & World Cups. They have an extensive amount of dollar to keep rider's tied down. The UK, Sweden, Denmark & to a point Germany can only ever be a feeder to Poland's top 2 tiers. We have to accept & embrace that. Instead of being angry, we should be proud of our lads being over in Poland achieving (or atleast trying to) those levels of the sport. For British Speedway, we want to keep, and increase the number of clubs we already have. Also steadily build the numbers that come through the turnstiles. We CANNOT currently hold riders down to 1 league as it's just not financially viable. Doors will close, and rider's lost forever. Without being too political, the white man demographic is shrinking at an alarming rate in this country, it's a problem also in other major European countries. Do you want to guess which country is economically stronger than ever and heavily restricts asylum?? People don't like to see it but these things do go hand in hand. How many black and brown are on the terraces in UK Speedway?? It matters to our sports future.

  32. Having watched that meeting, Mario found an inside line that worked for him (and pretty much no one else in the meeting). Memory is a little hazy but I think he finished 3rd in every heat, beating the other countries number 2 rider, but not their number 1. Blodorn was flying out the gates and won most of the heats and Germany 6-3'd their way to victory (4-3-2-0 scoring). I thought at the time that Hausl had over performed in that meeting. A lack of track time at Ashfield hasn't helped, but I think his own choices in not practising are a big cause of that. Our licence has no, or very little, restrictions on it so he could practice pretty much any time he liked

  33. I think Mario was signed purely off the back of that one good meeting in SoN2.

  34. And look at how they have all thrived since leaving. 2 have retired. One will never be in a team and not be a reserve and fair enough Berge has turned into a half decent rider.

  35. Not sure that the Tigers are good at handling young riders. Boughen was another who didn't seem to fit in/ be part of the team. Pijper tells of there being too much pressure at Glasgow and how he is more settled at Redcar. Bickley possibly another and Berge perhaps as well.

  36. The first thing we need to sort out in 2027 is we need to get the fun factor back into British speedway, it is sadly lacking in modern speedway and fans (those left ) feel it

  39. Fans aren't being taken for mugs if a rider is missing for a genuine reason, which I'd class riding in a British Championship as. It's kinda ironic this date was chosen to avoid foreign commitments, but not British ones.
