Why, because you think people should feel sorry for addicts?

You don't hear people defending junkies on the street who are hooked on smack and crack and god knows what else. When they break into someones house or car or mug someone on the street. People want them slung in the slammer and rightly so as its where they belong.

Addiction being ruled as an illness or mental illness is absolutely ridiculous.

If Cook has a genuine mental illness and is traumatized by something then of course I would feel bad for what I have said regarding him. The rumors are (not for the first time) he has a massive booze problem and therefore is unable to show for work because of it. If that is false then I will be the first to apologize.

I have sat through hours and hours of toolbox talks in Australia on mental health and have come face to face with people who have suffered massive family tragedy and come out the other side without resorting to drugs or booze (or gambling).

I will add that the fact gambling is classed as a mental illness is absolutely pathetic. If your thick enough to gamble away money needed to support yourself or family then that is your decision and yours only. Nothing ever comes good out of gambling that's why casino and bookie owners are so rich.

I am the first to admit I am outspoken at times but some of the reactions on here is exactly why the world is how it is today. Snowflakes and people tip toeing about in case they offend someone.

Craig Cook has let both Leicester and Berwick down at the drop of a hat right before the season starts and has still not came out and explained why. As I said before, why does he hold a current license if he has genuine mental health problems? People can say its a disgusting comment all they want, its still a very valid question.

I Gamble and it is not everyone loses like people think. You have to STTFPS which most punters fail and not chase losses. My results are all about variance over a 6-9 month period where as 3months is form.I never play casino or one arm bandits as that is why they call them bandits lol.

From the Northumberland Gazette 2 days ago:

Dane Peter Kildemand is back on a bike after serving a nine-day concussion ban while countryman Bastian Borke is back riding after major knee and leg surgery over the winter.

New signings Sam Hagon and Craig Cook will be familiarising themselves with the home side of Shielfield Park’s pits bay while Dayle Wood will be the busiest man of the day.

The charismatic 30-year-old Australian will pose for the assembled media in his new R.E.D Bandits, powered by STS kevlars before heading north to Armadale where he will race for the Monarchs Academy in their opening National Development League fixture of the season against Middlesbrough Tigers.

Interestingly it mentions Craig Cook will be there.

"charismatic 30-year-old Australian" That's quite a claim!

Don't forget that Cook was named to be in the CLPC and CLRC and the Leicester team until the day before P&P.

Course not mate but you never hear about anyone who gambles and wins and makes a profit as being a gambling addict do you, only the ones who lose then cry and moan and try claiming mental health on it when really its greed that gets them into it.

I gamble a few times a year , this year on the two big horse races and a couple of times on the footy, and done well. Last year the complete opposite. Id never get drawn into being "addicted" to it though.

Cool I bet most days but more like a hobby but if my system and form does not have a bet I will not bet on that day or any other day for the sake of it.I went to Doncaster races last month and never had a bet at the racecourse and happy to watch them parade and jump or run.How long have you been living down under now?

Aren't you just the voice of reason this country needs 🙄.

You have an issue with Craig, that's up to you he's marmite always has been. But to come on preaching how holier than though you are because you'd never get dragged in..you have no idea if you would or not. You may think you won't but it can come to anyone.

There's being outspoken and there's being a banger, in this occasion you would be the latter

I’m sure the Bandits promotion will make a statement when there is news to pass on and I’m confident they are working very hard behind the scenes to ensure we have the best 1-7 possible under trying circumstances.

No news is good news 🤔

You haven't answered my point about junkies robbing innocent people of their hard earned , do you sympathise with them?

I have my views and you have yours. Time to move on.

I think the problem with mental health nowadays is that its become in vogue to just just use mental health as a badge without having any issues whatsoever so its downplayed for people who actually do have real mental health problems. For example as a Manchester United fan ive heard fans saying recent results are affecting my mental health when there is absolutely nothing wrong with them, its become just a fashionable saying so for people like Cook who is suffering it can get downplayed.

You seem to be someone who has plenty to say on the matter but doesn't have a clue about mental illness, what it entails, varying forms of it and how it affects people differently.

But most importantly, NOBODY knows what is really going on apart from Craig and his family. So maybe pipe the hell down and be patient for official news, because at the moment you are just coming across as heartless, and most of all, stupid.

And also, you won't get to feel so superior, as well as obviously getting that wonderful satisfaction at laughing at the odd Neanderthal that still roams the world...:D

Seriously though,  I think questions should be asked in Parliament about the issues facing the Lions and the Bandits from the Leicester and Berwick Upon Tweed MP's...

It must mean so much to the lives of so many of their constituents....

I am sure Sir Keir would take great interest in such a major situation, as it will dwarf whatever else he currently is dealing with...:D

Edit. Sir Keir has just answered a question about the issue and his response was...

"Speedway? Is that still going?"...:D

Irrespective of whether Cook rides for Berwick or he doesn`t, and no matter what statement the Berwick management cobble together, I think the vast majority of Berwick`s fans will have already made their minds about Cook.

His future at Berwick is virtually untenable even now and that`s before a wheel has been turned.

I agree huge majority of the fans haven’t a clue what’s going on regarding Craig Cook.Surely a simple statement from the Promotion saying that Craig is having personal problems which they are trying to resolve(if that is the case?) would have been suffice.Instead we get all sorts mixed messages from people which doesn’t help anybody(Club or Fans or the sport).
