I seem to remember in 1989 the late great John Earrey replacing Rob Chandler on the mic and various other personnel changes from the Shears era. In summary we all have to accept that UK Speedway has a terminal diagnosis and it's patients are in denial!

Your right in that the public now (largely) have the attention span of a goldfish and value style over substance.

siggysigalos
Seems the new owner's are changing quite a bit, and to be fair, probably the right thing to do, start with a complete overhaul. The Kevin Long thing isn't something we didn't know about as he said at the Presentation Evening in November he was retiring, bit surprised by the Love in Yesterday, as he got rewarded on Presentation evening. Yes he has been very loyal, and as ive been going since 1980, he was one of the better ones in the League over a long period of time, but things change, and i know he will be hard to replace, but he will be replaced and we hope the next person in is just as good, over the past few years in my opinion, there are certainly better people on the microphones at other clubs than Kevin, So Thanks again Mr Long for your service, but definitely the right time to be walking away. As for the Chris Louis Video, watched it....Once, That's enough, Move On. As it's been said by so many people(And i'm not saying they are wrong)we are lucky we have got Speedway At Foxhall for 2026,but for me this season, i certainly will watch Kings Lynn at home most weeks and hopefully the odd Thursday trip to Leicester, not forgetting supporting Jordan Jenkins for the odd weekend up in Redcar. So thankfully the Speedway diary is as full as can be expected, Manchester included, so let's get it started.
TTT
Now that we know Northampton are running, Mayfield done well to get Lawson in considering he was name dropped for them on the podcast.

My stores would get four cages worth on a Saturday and Sunday, and take two people well over an hour to put in the supplements, and now barely three quarters of a cage arrives . The demographic of those still buying them almost mirror exactly the demographic of those who attend Speedway in the UK regularly... There are literally dozens of examples of amatuer sports teams doing their own coverage, vlogs, with several getting tens of thousands of followers on YouTube etc... An ideal low cost opportunity for Speedway teams to do the same...

It just seemed from some of the comments that this was an inevitable moment given the state of the sport in this country. I only hope the new owners respect the heritage and never ever forget it. It would be great for example either at the stadium or indeed somewhere in the town if we could have a montage or painted mural of some of the legends that have served the club from the 50s to the present day as a shrine to the clubs history.

I can imagine - as an ex paperboy (13-16 y/o in the very late 80s) I can't imagine anyone does that kind of job now. I still like a physical copy of my speedway star however when i do by it which is about 50% of the time maybe more in season.
