Whatever way it's dressed up, they are still charging the public an increased price for a product, the majority don't want. Delays are part of the reason crowds have declined over the years. A well run meeting, done and dusted within two hours, should be the target for all promoters.

The bottom line is regardless of any 'fee' to Terry Russell, there was a lot of money put into the respective coffers of the clubs.... Wasn't it £100k per team in the top league and then a fair few thousand per match to the hosting club for the matches covered? And the contract covered a good many years... I would suggest that even if Terry Russell had waived any fee (with no reason to do so by the way), we would still be where we are today and that the 'extra money' it would have produced, would have still been spent the same way as all the rest.. With the same amount of "nothing" to show for it today...

Wasn’t the only mass gathering by football fans recently,, whilst I don’t condone it there was no evidence that there were spikes in infection in previous gatherings by fans of another Glasgow club.

I love this answer even though I'm one of the rusty brillo pad brigade!!! Seriously though, I've been around a long time and thought about this alot and I think many of speedways problems are that it can't make it's mind up between being a sport or being a sideshow. The sidesjow aspect worked when noone had tellies or playstations!

not jumped ships . Doing the NJL Shield with Redcar and Berwick to trial using all three cc classes over 9 heats . Did apply to do NJL as well as MSDL --with work going on to sort this league at moment . Birmingham will run 2nd halves every meeting .

If that is true, he will become very popular with Kent fans. My gut feeling has always been that a trier will always be more popular than a rider who gets all his points from the gate. I'm beginning to become a bit more optimistic about results at Central Park. We might just surprise a few people.

Now that schools are back, cases are bound to go up. Wether this has an impact upon other restrictions being lifted, only time will tell.

Thing is people like UK Martin always look for all negative and moan then just talks about Poland having the best and all polish tracks are the best in the world. Agree some track are great BUT not all there are rough tracks too. Don't think he goes to his local track anymore. Always just knocks British speedway.

Phil what people don't know is without Terry Russell there would not have been a sky deal even if his company had taken 1% 10% or 25% without out him no sky that's FACT

After what happened at the weekend in Glasgow there could be a spike in cases at a time when all the sacrifices we have made in Scotland plus vaccinations seemed to be bringing the virus down to manageable levels. And yes it did look as if everything was pointing to a positive announcement just before the Scottish Government elections. With the possible spike in cases who knows what will happen. Just hope that spectator sports including both speedway teams don't end up having to suffer a targeted lockdown as a result of the behaviour of one football teams fans.

Surprised and shocked but not that it's wrong. Instead you've just said he meets the criteria so fair enough. I would be condemning ths criteria. I also mentioned previously that when I get the chance I will ask Chris why face to face Perhaps there was no real choice, perhaps Sheffield threatened to withdraw from the league. However unlikely it cant be ruled out. We are likely to never know the real decision process.

Good point. I had a terrible dream last night. I had died and been reincarnated as an air fence. Woke up sweating and screaming when I saw Bates and Roynon rolling up to the tapes!

Exactly. £24 is a lot for speedway, let alone middle and bottom tiers. For a couple that’s nearly £50 just in entrance fees before food, petrol etc. The hard core fans won’t be bothered but it will make the take it or leave it fans think twice, or attend less regularly especially when Covid has hit lots of people’s finances.

THEN in this case they would be wrong. The BSPA, unable to secure a TV deal, entered into a contract with Terry. No deal, no fee. This is not unusual for these sorts of negotiations especially in TV sports contracts.

Some might suggest there is a difference between a legitimate finders fee and blatantly lining your pocket at the expense of the organisation you are acting on behalf of.

The bspa as it was should have bought Coventry stadium when it was up for sale with some of the money from sky. Had it as a Midland national stadium for all top meetings and also had all the offices there . And used for training and bringing on British riders. As it can be used 7 days a week?

Booked my ticket for the double header with Newcastle, catching up with a couple of friends who like myself, have not been for a few seasons. Sounds like interest is high at Eastie with a few guys coming out of the woodwork to attend agin..

I would say interesting, as you have qualified your decisions in a constructive way. I agree with practically every assessment.

I give it till tomorrow before the “ the bikes are too fast nowadays/ there’s no skill involved in riding them (even though most of the critics wouldn’t even know how to start a bike), let’s go back to uprights/ black leathers and bibs/ proper cinders on the tracks/ eeeeeee I saw Tommy ( the mad wellie) Wilkinshaw in 1952 and he used to ride with a rusty Brillo pad on his helmet” brigade come and tell you that’s what’s needed.
