Looking forward to trip up to Glasgow on Tuesday. Not an ideal time to travel with the Cop26 climate change conference taking place in the city or the cold weather that November brings but that's the way it is. I have visited the city on several occasion's normally in the summer months and have been to Ashfield many times and enjoyed the racing and chatting with the Glasgow fans. To set the record straight not all Poole fans are arrogant or self righteous as I think some on this forum believe. Steve likes a bit of banter but he isn't vindictive. We both are flying up on Tuesday and would be great to meet up with Glasgow fans before the meeting. See you all on Tuesday Let the battle for the title commence.6 points

The higher number of teams in the Championship enables the promoter to provide greater variety to the fans and frankly there is almost zero difference in the quality of racing. Thus better income at the gate coupled with lower costs makes sense to stay put.5 points

Nothing in life is sure, so will go 99% There has been a lot of work by the management of Eastbourne, the Dugards and the BSPL to make sure we have the best possible chance to get to tapes in 2023.4 points

So SS comes on here and winds up (your words)but when someone retaliates then you all go wishy washy and ar*e lickey and want everyone to feel sorry for you all, if you can’t take it then don’t give it3 points

Think you need your head checking if you wouldn't have Ellis back next season. Was one of the very few good things about last season. I'd hope we'd be looking at bringing back Berge as well. Was a while ago now but I thought he was absolutely class round owlerton when he rode for us and I don't think we'd get much better riders on a 4.14 average.3 points

Not the full package? Only Jack Holder, Dan Bewley and Sam Masters managed the higher average last season. 50% of all his rides for Sheffield were either winning races or paid wins. He is British and qualifies for a reduction on his average. He is on record as wanting to comeback to the club next season He will do for me.3 points

For next years Benfund meeting, possibly a radical change to the previous 16 rider individual format could be introduced or even a one off special event. Several injured riders teams are now defunct, but still have supporters who do attend different tracks to get their fix and roaming supporters visiting tracks infrequently. Potentially a best pairs format with riders representing defunct tracks to attract a few more and a few more marketing avenues to swell the coffers. Teams like: Workington, Coventry, Hull, Exeter, Swindon, Halifax, Cradley, Hackney, Wimbledon to mention a few. With Team, Race Jacket and Manager sponsorship being available, hopefully this would be an attractive proposition not to mention the riders from previous being in attendance.2 points

For those Poole fans who didn’t make the press conference after the meeting, here it is in all its glory.2 points

Steve, don't walk around that area of Glasgow after the meeting once it's dark. If there isn't a bus, call a taxi.2 points

Whats your point? Both clubs requested special dispensation to extend into November. Permission was granted as any delay was primarily down to other teams fixtures not being completed and was hardly the fault of either team in the final!2 points

That was the original stated intention - but I'm hearing it may be held over til 2023 due to this 'truncated' season.2 points

Is that the lot Kym Marsh was in? Didn't realise their language was that bad.2 points

Thanks. I wear a face mask as a matter of course and courtesy to others. Never would enter a building without one. Only COVIDIOTS wouldn’t wear a mask.2 points

Quite right I'm boycotting the Poole stream on similar grounds... Oh wait... You're promotion have already done that for me And as has been pointed out to you several times now, the person posted that video is a well known wind up merchant who had a beer with said club official after the meeting. Get over it2 points

If the person you tell the joke to doesn't laugh then it isn't funny. You can hide behind supposed humour as an excuse but we all know it isn't that at all. You just take it too far cos SS winds you up. But why are we surprised when a member of your club swears openly at an opposition fan. Glad Glasgow aren't getting one penny off me. I was gonna buy the stream, but absolutely no chance. Twitter updates for me2 points

Don't think should be allowed to sign a rider who you know is going to miss home meetings IMO. Makes a mockery of the league. Quick enough to criticise grobauer, absolutely no difference if that's allowed. Should go back to NL guest as only facility in such occasions2 points

Speedway bikes to become electric then?1 point

I'm thinking of the mid sixties here and I remember Martin Ashby as a super nice fellow and a somewhat modest individual. A great Swindon heatleader along with Briggs and Broadbanks1 point

The sooner these 2 splash off meetings are completed the better. We can all settle down again and get ready for Christmas. May one team or the other win. Then they can get on with planning what speedway 2022 will exist.1 point

Starts back in the day were a joke…it did add to the tension watching riders rolling back and forwards trying to get a flyer…but when you look back on it now it was ridiculous really and starts were completely unfair..watching the old videos now only emphasises that.. i remember the new starting laws coming in around 1984 or so and it took a lot of getting used to and a fair few exclusions but riders adapted and no doubt starts became fairer.. starts are pretty fair now as long as some start marshals ensure all riders are at the tapes and not half a mile away like the Peterborough start marshal in the final so I think it’s fine…..I still don’t mind the gardening before a race though, it all adds to the tension.1 point

To be fair, crowds were getting gradually smaller for the past few seasons. That particular year, the promoter alienated virtually everybody there to the extent that seasoned regulars stopped going, hence impossible to continue. Have to run on Fridays, make sure you can run at a sustainable level and go from there. Anything else would be madness.1 point

Told me exactly the same. He's proven to be a very good rider and a smashing person but last year never really worked for him. Shame because he's a lot better than we saw and he was as frustrated as anyone.1 point

At least Trevor Geer has been with the club in one form or another for so long so knows the former ethos along with the Dugards. Just hope the year out doesn't loose a lot of the current fan base, I think unlikely and hopefully will fire everyone up again. Also gives a bit of extra time to see which way the leagues go again,( good NL again etc)one would think though with Trevor at the helm they will be trying for at least championship level again.1 point

There were four of us on the 1st bend along an Ipswich/Edinburgh fan. We cleared off after the meeting to go to the nearest Spoon's for some cheap Ale to drown our sorrows. Disappointed with the track being as dusty as it was, could have done with some water. Poole clearly the better team who handled it well. Been home for about an hour after the long drive.1 point

Be lunacy to jump into the highest league. Sustain not skint should be the mantra .1 point

To put things in perspective, during Oxford’s last season in the premier league, their home match against Swindon had an attendance of around 500. 200 of them were from Swindon. There was simply no appetite for Speedway at Crowley. The new promoter must ask him/her self, ‘ What has changed?’1 point

I am really surprised Poole are not streaming the home leg they would make a fortune the amount of Glasgow fans who want to see this meeting but cannot travel1 point

I attended some meetings this season- but what’s that got to do with anything I really don’t - the question you miss over and over again is why I don’t attend each meeting and many more people that have stopped attending that doesn’t see to interest the promotion in the slightest- I have opinions on a lot of things in life doesn’t mean I support theses things one way or the other - Kings Lynn speedway is no different you seem to think if I’m not there every meeting I’m not entitled to an opinion. I think the amount of time and hard earn cash I’ve spent at Kings Lynn speedway over the last 45 years I’m entitled to an opinion.1 point

It is well and truly broken - but they do nothing to re-invigorate it. Simply weaken the teams, increase the price and they will still come. Errrr - nope1 point
