On here to Litterally only be a wind up behind a fake username to try and be little Plymouth and in the end you’ve just casted more spotlight on what a great call Plymouth made. great call Plymouth and top work for saving people a pointless journey.5 points

Personally I think the scoring system is one of the few things our governing body has got right in recent years, I really like it although they spoiled it slightly by giving home teams three points for any win. I can see the appeal of the BP system but think the 3-2-1-0-1-2-3-4 is (was) better.5 points

quite agree you got one of the best managers in the game. and the worst set of luck any team can have in one season4 points

It's not the commentators that are the problem. Sure, we miss a true professional like Nigel was, but Kelvin and Chris can just about pull it off. The problem is the lack of presentation between heats. With Sky and BT we had a studio to cut to, and some for of discussion to break up the programme a bit. This is what is now lacking, and we are missing someone like Natalie in the studio. What is the worst thing about speedway? It's the tractor going round between races. What do we see on dear old Eurosport? We see the tractor going round, and Kelvin and Chris desperately trying to keep things going - sometimes, as was the case on Saturday, for long periods. When you are at the stadium, you can kill the time as you are part of an event. On the telly, it needs something else to keep the program going. This is Eurosport I'm afraid. It's just not in the same league as Sky and BT and it never has been.4 points

No need for that. I saw your post last night and thought it wouldn’t age well not least because, citing the weather at the marina at the time, it was clear you didn’t understand the concept of a weather FOREcast. That said, in the name of cordiality I didn’t berate you as you have done to Mike. Anyway, given you do understand the concept of a weather ACTUALcast, I can confirm that it’s raining.3 points

I think the Winner will benefit most from the aggregate points return. Wots the 'proposed' doing in there? And if those 3 club's are 'dictating' how the Championship is run then they are leading the way in showing professionalism & there's nothing wrong in that. That isn't to say that other club's are not being run professionally it's just that I'm trying to figure out ur cryptic message.3 points

Can you please remove this post. Mr Carter was not married to this person. It is in extremely bad taste to say things like this on a public forum. Please have empathy and respect for people who have autism and special needs. And respect for her family.2 points

Speedway a team sport that doesn't have tactics or any true meaning of a team sport just a band of riders who pull on a teams race jacket a couple of times a week before riding for someone else the next night.2 points

I should imagine it will be big crowds at each leg of the final. Great decision from the BSPA. Be lucky to get 800 at Sheffield. Will be 2000+ at each venue in the final.2 points

Having had a few days to reflect, what an absolute shower of $hite. Cardiff is a great social occasion but what was served up in the stadium was absolutely dire compared to past years. No pre event entertainment? they've had bands, singers, tribute acts and all sorts in the stadium before. The Viking Clap was a massive embarrassment , Amarillo played twice and announced as the first time was poor, nothing for Nigel when they had hours to kill during track grading, the painful legends section where they should have all been sent out together instead of filling 15 mins with it, 2 interviews with Top Gears Chris Harris where he said exactly the same, Ellis announced at the tapes after he'd been on the big screen pulling out of the meeting. That's with out the suicidal track and the booing of Leon for pointing it out and the list goes on....... If this is meant to be an improved product I'd like to no how. 20k crowd at the most and doubt it will be bigger in 2023, we are definitely no longer the flagship GP. As they say in Dragon's Den for 2023 "I'm Out" better off having friends round for a bbq and trying to bear watching it on the tv.2 points

I was hooked form the very first meeting that I attended...everything about it! Standing on the terraces with fellow enthusiats and chewing the fact/arguing made it a great night out! Never bothered me personally the gaps between races...that's when we all became an 'expert' Team Manager! Don't go along with gimmicks which is what the general public with their short attention span now seem to expect. I attended two American Football matches at Wembley and I found all the razzmatazz all a bit tedious and it struck me that was what the fans were more interested in. The Mexican Wave was in vogue then and the spectators appeared to take more notice of that rather than what taking place on the pitch. Speedway when presented right takes some beating but, alas, those in control thru' years of mismanagement have allowed it become a pale shadow of its former glorious self!2 points

You may say it's a POINTLESS meeting but at least the promotion are trying to keep it going unlike us at Newcastle2 points

Having the BBC on your side helps, if we were talking women's or transgender speedway, they'd be on it like a shot!2 points

Absolute farce. Redcar should be awarded the points! Not sure Plymouth should be a CH side next season the way they've approached the sport this year!!!!2 points

For me the return of the bonus point is a good idea. But for they should do away with the nice try point, the one that awards a point if the away team loses by 6 points or less. Whoever heard of a sport where you are rewarded for losing. For me it has to be; 3 points for a win 2 points for a away draw 1 point for home draw. 0 points for a loss2 points

I just read a post from speedway GB about have a poll about changing the league scoring system for 2023, good god we are facing the end of professional speedway in the uk and they have ideas like this , I give up2 points

Just back from Cardiff. I have done every Cardiff GP but this will be my last. Cardiff has become too difficult, too expensive with little given back. Whether its getting there, hotels, buying tickets, downloading tickets ,ticket apps etc, all that hassle to be rewarded with an awful track producing an awful GP. And guess what my ticket app would not load when I got to the gate. Had to pay a visit to the ticket office with a lot of tetchy people with the same problem. Discovery have taken the GP back 20 years, 20 years ago we had a 30 thousand crowd and an unfit track dito 2022. When will they stop making mistakes ,SON in the same country comes to mind, BSI learned that lesson years ago. For me the Cardiff GP has run its course, maybe with a sub 30 thousand crowd it has also run its natural course anyway, how do they expect to sell tickets for next year on the back of what we have seen this year, they won't be getting my money I'd be surprised if they are making any money on this event with the costs involved, can't see discovery sucking this up for ever. Over and out2 points

It'll all depend on whether Danny can get across the swollen Ford and drain out the middle ditch on the first bend... 90% chance that the place will be flooded and off. Bellend will blow his top, should have been called off on Monday so he coukd have gone home from Cardiff1 point

Yep, probably why Plymouth feel like they have to post a video to prove it! Always the same when called off cos of a forecast, everyone always asking if it is raining yet!1 point

Mark Phillips has posted a live video of facey book thing apparently showing flooded Pits flooded track and rain like the week before the Ark. We await a weather update from the Charlie from Redcar (not Charles Wright)1 point

So the three teams in the final have worked out a way more of their supporters can see part of the final, and i would imagine make more money out the final as well think these three teams need to be in charge of how the league is run1 point

Flash floods and torrential rain in large parts of South West, Wales, Midlands, North West... Probably worse tomorrow. What is disgraceful about enduring riders and spectators and officials don't have a wasted 600 700 mile round trip in some cases.1 point

Oh jeez, ere we go again! Are Exeter thinking of coming back then coz I can't think of any other reason to bring BP back! If BP does come back Pirates will av to put the Waves back into Wimborne Road!1 point

Ultimately the system will make little difference to the overall league table, so really the question is what system retains most interest? And although I was originally doubtful about it, I think that has proven to be the home: 3-2-1-0, away 0-1-2-3-4 format. What I really despair at is the possibility we could have three leagues each with a different scoring system next season.1 point

First meeting I’ve been to since 2019 and first meeting since my club Somerset closed. Dreadful waste of money. “Racing” consisted of about three or four decent heats the rest strung out. Thank goodness Wrighty missed the gate a few times. Nicholls and Summers for a home pair were embarrassing. Only beat two reserves from Plymouth. I know there were injuries, but come on , surely the teams could have put on a better show than that. When I think of some of the great Pairs meets we used to have at the OTA, pre Cardiff, it makes you fear for the future of speedway. The next day carried onto Cardiff, and another crock of crap. Thank goodness for Dan and a few others. I will certainly not be doing the GP next year along with all the others who didn’t show up. £65 for a seat in the quiet zone and there was two bell ends on the klaxons the whole meeting, pathetic. oh and £7.20 for a hot dog , no thanks.1 point

Watching a lot of "old stuff" on YT it is noticeable how the riders would often "free wheel" into the turns and then put the power on when into the bend and bring the back wheel around.. Similar to the way grasstrack racers do... I presume it was down to the deep cinders...? Lots of races were won by riders passing others who were "hopping" around after hitting a deep part of the track.... And they used throttle control to control the bikes reaction... It also meant plenty of entertainment for those watching... Some of the races on Saturday had riders showing this "old school" style, but the likes of Bewley and Zmarzlik kept full on the gas and definitely got advantage for it... Those brought up on GB tracks like Bewley, Doyle and Holder certainly seemed better equipped to deal with the problems (even though Doyle kept falling off)... Which probably says something about GB track preparation... Zmarzlik is obviously just a once in a generation world class rider who is fearless and can ride anything. ..1 point

Some of the comments on here are extraordinary. Cardiff is not just about the racing and neither was Wembley which rarely produced racing to remember as other posters have highlighted. The occasions however were fantastic but Cardiff, a track smack in the middle of a vibrant modern European city, is even better. Cardiff has grown into an event on its own, quite separate from the domestic scene and for most people its a fantastic day out and its evolved into something quite special. Thats actually fairly obvious. Stepping out of Belle Vue into the evening sunshine of Gorton just isn't going to be the same. There isn't even a pub that close. The status of the GP would be diminished although I agree it would be nice to have BV for a 2nd GP. If you don't buy into the idea of Cardiff as an event, an occasion, then you are missing the point of Cardiff. Although the crowd may have been down this year, it is still by far the biggest crowd pulling event in British speedway.1 point

Was at the Isle of Wight last night, went a long way to put my faith back in speedway, Barry and martin understand the importance of the fans, great slick show geared towards the fans, meeting was marred by a horrific crash involving Chris mackett and Tim Curnock which resulted in a meeting being abandoned and the air ambulance being called , hope the guys are ok but that aside it is a fantastic slick show and very good value for money1 point
