Yes looks like British Speedway will achieve carbin neutral staus by 2030 by virtue of not existing7 points

I’m expecting Laguta to go and we’ll use guests due to “special dispensation” or “best interests of the sport”. Something of that ilk. Wouldn’t be surprised to see someone like Barker replace Thomson to “strengthen” the side. Christ, it’s depressing being a Stars fan at times.4 points

Pretty obvious why Lawson isn’t included as Wrocław is a big fast track and Lawson is a gater……plus he doesn’t ride in Poland How on earth Steve Worrall is in over Charles Wright is a mystery Worrall does ok on tracks like Poole and Wolves where they are gaters paradise tracks but in Wrocław he would be cannon fodder ….Wright loves the big tracks and would be a far better option …. Strange choice3 points

Are there any adults who know how to behave and make their point constructively on this forum? Or have some of you watched too many PMQ's and believe that because our country's leadership are a bunch of toxic bell ends, it is all right for you to follow suit?3 points

I think you're referring to Peterborough here surely - undoubtedly the most expensive and poor quality food outlet across British Speedway I've come across. The stuff served up at Lynn is ok by comparison - the best quality/value I've had is at Ipswich - but the speedway club don't get any of those profits/receipts.3 points

Carl Johnson leaves the club, the club keeps running Buster leaves the club, game over3 points

Exactly, people moan when they have a bad meal or a faulty car after a service. If you can do better step up, if not shut up. People need to realise just because they are paying their hard earned cash for something it doesn’t need to be good. Glad we agree with each other.3 points

Folk put too much emphasis on passing , yes its exciting to watch , but I've seen many an exciting race with riders going for it less than a bike length apart, but the actual overtake doesn't happen3 points

Sounds like Rathbone should have been the one to negotiate with Poland over using their Extraleague riders. He was smart enough to get paid to release a rider, while years later the league has given up priority on Thursdays for re-arranged fixtures! He deserves a medal for his brilliance lol!3 points

I am sure the SCB will give a full explanation as to what transpired it’s the least the Birmingham fans deserve. You really have to feel for the Brum promoters as they seem to be getting a kicking at every turn through no fault off their own.2 points
-
Don't really take great deal of satisfaction from that. A win is a win and was some good racing in 2nd half but just wonder where this leaves Birmingham. I imagine a lot of unhappy, disillusioned supporters who might vote with their feet. And through something of no fault of the promotion2 points

Why, oh why do people involved with the sport say things like this. As a prospective customer it is such a turn off.2 points

The sport is too far gone now. Undoubtedly there will be lip service changes made in the winter that benefit the higher percentage of clubs that vote for them. We need to rip it up and start again. Alarm bells should have started ringing when the biggest, best run club in the sport (Poole) dropped a division because they couldn’t sustain top tier Speedway. Speedway is cocaine. Addictive, but by the time it reaches the end user it’s been cut with so much rubbish by the dealer that it barely resembles the pure product. Only a few gullible fools can’t see that and carry on with it to get their hit.2 points

why would a youngster travel for just three rides? 6 or even 5 man teams are the only sensible option2 points

You should only moan if you are prepared to sort the air fences and clean the toilets I believe..... Otherwise you are required by the happy clappers (many of whom clean toilets and sort air fences so get in for free), "Speedway Law" to attend each week, pay over your hard earned/pension, and be bloody thankful you have a track to go to, as loads have closed down... And be under no illusions.. If your track closes, it is your fault...2 points

I'm just wondering where all of these "Johnny come lately" posters are coming from all of a sudden. We've all been on here sounding the warnings for years, in fact most of us have left and all of a sudden, now it's probably too late, people are coming on here to vent their spleens... welcome aboard though. I think I could probably run a Speedway club and a lot better than those in charge currently do but there's no way on this earth that I ever would in it's current format. Why would I? In fact why do those that currently do it... do it. Listening to Nigel Tolley on the Speeway Tavern podcast he said he did it because he's a massive Speedway fan as are his family and he knows it means so much to so many people in the community, which are all very laudable reasons but that almost sounds like a charity, which is not how Speedway should be run. As for your club, well I suspect that the promoter you had this season (and Peterborough's will he won't he potential promoter) were/are driven by hubris. You don't need me to tell you this but if all clubs were run like Buster runs his clubs then the sport would be in a much more healthier state financially, I'd love to have a nice shiny new car on my drive, but I can't afford one, so I don't have one. Buster is no saint, I could do without all of his vindictiveness towards those that have crossed him, sometimes you just have to forgive (not forget) and move on.2 points

Is Discovery / Eurosport / BT / Sky not actually "the elephant in the room" What money the Sport has received from those it has truly "spaffed up" and increasingly it's become a CLOSED SHOP! BSN has shown that in-house streaming can deliver a product that is not in any way a "poor relative" for Speedway fans and if correct delivered a near 5 figure sum to CL Clubs last year. To each of the Clubs via Pooling resource. HOW MANY NEW FANS ARE ATTRACTED BY MSM - (the above) Is it not time to take Speedway OFF MSM and to make it stand on its own 2 feet? BSN delivered more financial input to CL Clubs last year than "the above" have done in the past decade. Back to Basics, cut costs and cloth accordingly and rebuild from the bottom up with "whats left" and what's sustainable. Better to be paid £50-£80 per point than NOT paid £100- £200 a point and 4 figure guarantees. LOCAL Advertising, LOCAL initiatives FAR more likely to attract NEW support than DISCOVERY. Local Radio does a cracking job in some areas as an example.2 points

I noticed that when Edinburgh are hosting their double header, fans who only want to watch the first match, will get money back of they leave before the second one. But as that is Monarchs vs Bandits followed by Academy vs Bullets, you'd think it's not so necessary to offer that! But how many Plymouth fans want to watch Belle Vue & vice versa?2 points

Think it would have been better for 1st Team to have 1st and 3rd pick and 2nd Team too have 2nd pick.More even group that way. IMO.2 points

I actually think we'll struggle. Top 4 will need to all get close to double figures as don't see many points from the bottom end. Still at least there's the odd pass at Birmingham so shouldn't be as bad as last Wednesday . And even if it is.... Least we'll get the bonus lol2 points

I agree in part to the sentiment but with beer and fish and chips you always have options/alternatives but with a sports venue it is slightly different and Ipswich have come near to folding in the past and thanks to the Louis family and some great supporters and sponsors the sport has fought off closure. With a venue like Foxhall, if it Speedway stops it will not come back, not in this day and age notwithstanding the Spedeworth fixtures currently planned, Spedeworth would simply pick up the slack in available dates/weekly meetings permitted by the local council. Plenty who live near to the track would like to see it closed and one or two presenters on BBC Radio Suffolk have been lees than enthusiastic about the Witches and banger racing. Most on here realise change is needed but those with the ability to instigate this are unlikely to rock the boat and try something different. It starts with affordability and stop the nonsense of riders demands. It can not afford most of those who grace the tracks but no one has the balls to say enough is enough, the business model is flawed, the participants think they are owed a living from the sport and the club owners treat the fans with such disdain, is it any wonder the sport is on its knees. No one involved has the balls to do the right thing except one club, who now plough their own furrow. Hopefully a few more will follow and the likes of Vatcher and many other cronies will be out of a job.1 point

For a while, after the Dukes left in 1985, the two straights survived. But, eventually, the football/rugby league pitch was moved towards the Skircoat Stand (swallowing up the home straight) to make room for a larger, new east stand, some of which sits on what was the back straight. Now, you'd never imagine speedway had taken place at the Shay (similarly, the modern version of Holker Street, Barrow!).1 point

If no facility is allowed should there not be 3 races with only 1 Brummie? Also why isn't a facility allowed when Lynn got one when Artem Laguta had "food poisoning"? Surely if it's a non-speedway injury / illness Brummies should be allowed to use r/r & Morris gets a 7 day suspension? I've never heard of there being "no facility" but the reserves being able to take all the rides, are they making up the rules on the spot?1 point

Had a similar experience whilst in the lower sixth - in October 1981 (just dug out, from the loft, the meeting programme!). In what was a seriously big deal in the area - the pre-meeting build-up in the local evening paper cranked up, night after night - Kenny Carter met (and beat, 2-1) new world champion Bruce Penhall in the Motor Cycle News Golden Helmet. Followed by Halifax 42 Swindon 35 then Halifax 41 Cradley 37. What an evening at the Shay! You simply don't get them like that any more.1 point

Buster won't be involved in Speedway at all next season imo so I think CJ and Tomalin are playing the waiting game to lower the price. Short term suffering for long term gain????? That's just wishful thinking though from me.1 point

Nicki Picking himself in the squad is fantastic! Rowe over Wright seems an odd one unless he didn’t fancy it.1 point

I have a large badge collection, I'll have a look & see if I have a pair of this badge. It's amazing how much people think these badges are worth when they were made in the thousands. The modern style will be more valuable in a few years as this are made in batches of much fewer numbers.1 point

I have some sympathy with Louis. The pre season loss of Thomas was massive & the illness issues Riss has had has been a blow. Both those guys fully fit in the team then I think we’re looking at a completely different scenario. however to get the replacement of Thomas wrong twice is unforgivable & Riss should have been permanently replaced with someone other than Barker. what’s left for this season? Either bring in two riders & go for broke trying to make the play off of bring in a couple for with a view to next season & get Doyle’s average down a bit. as for next year I really hope Emil stays on board, Emil, doyle on a lower average & Rew for next year. the rest requires a clear out…….although the make up of the league (s) will have a big impact on what comes next. up the witches1 point

needs tough decisions unpopular with riders and some fans. The day 4 valves came in was the beginning of the bike wagging the rider so to speak. 90pc of fans couldn't give a moneys about the bikes, just want decent racing at a price we can afford.1 point
