Fair play to Phil and the team... To consistently take so many excellent tracks and completely balls them up in the SGP and SWC takes some doing.. And as for the TV coverage? Well. It is Europsort.... Clicky off.....9 points

Good ride coming in stone cold from Tom there. What would Ellis have scored if hadn't landed gate1 in first heat? No sure Tom's necessarily the answer might be tempted go for bomber and keep Tom as reserve give him a ride or 25 points
-
Yeah Ellis needs to lose his spot on Saturday. Harris needs to come in, might not be the rider he once was but when the chips are down I’d prefer to see him.5 points

Ellis has had chances at this level and never makes the grade. Screwed up at the Cardiff GP when was not fit and denied another rider of the chance to perform. Was rather cocky in an interview on Saturday in a Polish meeting. Let Tom have a chance as riders like him are the future. As to why team GB needs two dick heads to run the thing beggars belief. Sums up GB speedway.4 points

Well done Tom, on the pace and could have stolen the lead on the back straight, take a bow lad.4 points

Quite simply the Sport is in its deepest hole since the split of the Legaues in the 1960's. There have been peaks and troughs for almost 100 years but this current situation feels seismic. A dwindling supporter base, a massive number of alternative attractions, a cost of living crisis that we are going to have to endure for at least the next few years and governance that is simply turning a blind eye and has dug a huge hole. Putting Club loyalties aside, there are probably 5-6 profitable Clubs who can succeed based either on crawd attendence, large benefactors or large Sponsors or a combination of those. There are some Clubs who are having to deal with Planning, Development and Stadium sale issues, irrespective of whether they are successful or not. Land Values only exacerbate this issue. The sport needs a vision that the current Management Hierarchy seems to lack , some of that is intellectual and some is down to their understandable desire to protect their own. We cannot compete with Poland or have any delusions of grandeur that we can. We cannot survive with 2 tiers of "professional" Clubs. The solution is both basic, pragmatic and blindingly obvious. An independent overseeing non partisan Leader An Elite "professional" League of 6-8 Clubs who can work within set guidelines and structures A second semi professional / amateur level with a League structure covering expenses and littl more with any income levels STRICTLY maintained (not like the NDL of the 2015-2019 period) Other forms of motor cycle sport work very well on an amateur run basis , Banger / Stocks attracts big crowds on the basis that participants pay to enter and then share small prize money. Speedway can promote itself still as a "niche sport", the model though will have to be more like the German / Czech smaller scale models than Poland or even Sweden. Any one responding with club alliegances and putting Clubs first is I respectfully suggest completely missing the point!4 points

Brennan is nowhere near as good as Steve Worrall, Richard Lawson or even Harris. Take out Adam, replace with Worrall or Lawson, and keep Brennan as reserve. We are not going to win it but third is possible.3 points

I totally agree. The riders looked like they were part of a video game from that angle.3 points

Brennan IS good enough, he DOES have experience at this level, and he just showed he can compete.3 points

Hopefully he FIM have learned their lesson in track prep tonight and don’t make this mistake for the rest of the week. As they’ve somehow managed to ruin the best track in the world and made one lined.3 points
-
Agreed but the line ups in those races you don’t expect a couple of 0’s from your 4th rider3 points

I can agree to some extent. However it just shows that you can't all 4 events at the same track. Track has to be ultra slick to be able to handle 4 races in 5 days. Not enough supporter base to cover 4 races at the same venue. I think it has to be split up or have some kind of dual hosts. Like both Semi finals in one country (i.ex. in Britain at Manchester and Kings Lynn) then have the race off and final in another country, like Sweden with race off at one track and the final at another (i.e. in Sweden like Eskilstuna/Sannahed and Västervik/Gislaved). Semi finals races are close enough for allowing fans to from abroad to travel to see both, but still not too close to rely on the same supporter base to 100 percent.3 points

Don't understand why the semi finals aren't held in a country of one of the teams. Could have had this in any of the countries in this tonight and you would expect a good crowd,as of tomorrow apart from having it in Oz of course. Then the final in Poland, doesn't look good on TV with a few hundred there.3 points

The whole event is just set up for the Poles to gleefully win it. Yet again. Have it at Wolves and see what happens.3 points

Rubbish racing and terrible crowd. Shows exactly what health speedway is in3 points
-
Well, that is expected when you have all 4 races at the same venue. Most won't bother with the semis, especially when Poland is seeded to the final.3 points

Speedway in the UK has been living beyond its means for yrs and simply can't compete or compare to how the sport is run in say Poland, paying out mega bucks to get the GP boys over here ain't the answer coz it don't generally pay for itself as in putting enough extra bums on seats to cover the cost so it's needs a decent club to sponsor to cover the cost, im just as happy to see lower grade riders race then the top boys race if it means the sport over here continues in some shape or form, i started watching the sport as a teenager back in the mid 70's and more often then not the riders turned up with a bike strapped to the back of a car and not have all these fancy vans like 2day and they also held down a job outside of the sport, these days the riders want/expect to much but the clubs still find a way to shell out for them which generally they can't afford without like mentioned big sponsors.3 points

Been watching speedway in the West Midlands since I was knee high and want to continue doing so. Still a great spectacle and entertaining sport. I’d probably still moan about how the sport is run and about the poor decisions taken. But better that than having no speedway to watch.3 points

There's some real OTT reaction on here tonight for a meeting we won! People seem to have got it into their head that Woffinden gave Brennan his ride with absolutely no evidence to support this (that I'm aware of). The manager(s) surely made this decision. Yes argue the toss over team selection, personally I wouldn't have selected Ellis but listening to Allen on a podcast the other day not all riders show as much willingness to ride for their country as some but I believe Adam Ellis must/does.2 points

Anders Rowe would be a waste of time too, if he is the future we are sunk.2 points
-
Stead has made some terrible decisions, should have had Charles Wright as an option.2 points
-
I think both Adam and Tom will be in the 1 to 4 with Dan Bewley at 5 and we will be battling to avoid 4 th place2 points
-
So much for Allan and Stead, It took Woffinden to give up his place for Tom to get a ride!!2 points

One thing for sure Brennan won’t do any worse thanEllis if he is picked for Final2 points
-
Could have put him out now.. The other 3 would win the meeting regardless of what he scored.. No disrespect to Ellis, but it simply would have made sense for Brennan to have a race and get into the competition...2 points

I definitely think there are no 'special' meetings these days. Without sounding like an old biffer, I grew up watching 1980s National League speedway. Most weeks there was a rider you wanted to see and a few times a year there would be a really big meeting, with some big stars you'd never usually see at your local track. Now it feels like it is the same riders week after week, and there's no special nights. Speedway has many problems, most of which are grassroots issues and not about the 'survival of the Premiership' but one issue I think they have is the inability of a promoter to develop and promote their own product. The cartel means they all have to serve up the same tripe as each other. I'd love promoters to be able to put on their own shows. Based in a holiday resort... forget league racing and serve up entertainment for the tourists. Only got limited access to your venue... run the events that work in your area. I've always said speedway's a bizarre example of a team sport (it's seven individuals who roughly wear the some colours, and when you add up how much they score you get a winning 'team') but I also accept there is an audience for it. But stuff like touring teams, legend teams, Harlem Globetrotters etc. are all part of the show. Speedway could learn so much from other sports, like the pro and development tours in darts, the pantomime of wrestling and the progression structures (and club racing scenes) of other motorsports, but giving promoters the freedom to do (or at least experiment) what works in their market could at least give British speedway an opportunity to survive. It won't survive on the bland and outdated bilge that is league racing. To quote Kelvin Tatum 'No doubt about that'2 points

His average is relatively healthy as he's almost guaranteed 4 points minimum each meeting, just from beating Riss and Thompson/Hume who are all struggling. Then he has the two other reserves to beat meaning he will usually get 6 without breaking a sweat. The odd decent trap at home will mean he'll beat most no 4's in ht 3 and the odd race win in 12 at home giving him 7/8 points for little effort. Means he looks like he's scoring well and hitting a decent average but the reality is he's not beating anyone of note to justify a 'heat leader' role.2 points

Have a look at Kings record at home in heat 12 up against the opposition number 3 and a reserve ….. see how many times he has been on the wrong end of a 5-1 …. See how many times the opposition number 3 beats him He has beat Ellis though lol2 points

F'kin ell. You can be smacked off ya t!ts but if you're acting normal it should be ok A perfect example of where society has gone wrong. Drink & drug driving / riding in any world / sport is NOT ok2 points

If speedway is a franchise business it needs to be run like one. Someone sets the direction and the franchise owners buy into that model. At the moment, everyone having a say just defeats the object of leadership and direction.2 points

Morris refused to comply with the test requirement. At that instant he took the matter into his own hands so I don’t see why other parties should be wasting their time investigating this further to assess whether the punishment should extend beyond the mandatory 30 day ban. Random testing is part and parcel of professional sport (even speedway falls into that category) and if you’re dumb enough to refuse a test it’s an admission that you have something to hide. I don’t see why the situation needs to be more complex than that. Serve him with the maximum ban/fine and move on.2 points
