I will never not be a fan of zmarzlik, his attitude to winning is matched by his talent and imo is by far the greatest rider the sport has ever had, his pass on Thompson tonight was just pure class, started a lap before by showing Thompsen his front wheel up the inside making Thompsen change his line leaving zmarzlik to go where he needs to get the speed to pass him ,irrespective of how good the opposition is or isn’t, it is arguably harder to beat anyone nowadays because all 16 riders have pretty much identical engines obviously with their own set ups which wasn’t the case back in the 60s 70’s 80s or any decade you care to mention, when the few had far superior engines to the rest of the field, speedway has had some greats over the years but imo none had the complete package like zmarzlik5 points

I pointed this out 2 years ago, he is very fast when out front but is scared in traffic, you wont coach that out of the lad unfortunately.4 points

A shame that TNT's coverage ended before the presentation, I was hoping we might get a glimpse of this Elsie Cue that they kept mentioning.4 points

The riders coming out at the end of the meeting to encourage the crowd is to be commended. The enthusiasm is great and I just wish that more UK based spectators got to see how it can be done and channelled some of that to the local teams. It might not have been as spectacular but back in the 70’s good crowds at stadia were the norm and on a Saturday night Rayleigh versus Romford or Canterbury or Eastbourne or Ipswich saw it packed. Sadly the glory days have long gone but the fever you get from Poland is something to behold.3 points

He won't change. He shuts off every time. You can't carry three riders and expect to win. Him being No2 means Heat 8 will always be a 1-5 against3 points

Cool,Pleased you enjoyed it and I spoke to a few scorpion fans on the first turn. Enjoyed the meeting and lots of positives for the comets and as long as it is a good meeting I am not to bothered about the score as long as the racing is good,But I always want the Comets to win.Well done both teams for a entertaining meeting.3 points

Birmingham had 9.66 available to replace Zagar. Could've picked anyone in the world, apparently Castagna was the strongest rider willing to come? If they had known Gusts was getting dropped, I'd have given him a shot ahead of Hume tbh3 points

The winner should be the top scorer from 20 heats (after any necessary run-off). It was bad enough when 21st heat was introduced to individual meetings, so that the winner could be the fourth best. Now the GP winner could be the tenth best. Nonsense!3 points

It reminds of what Dimitri Berge was like when he came back from the injury he suffered (can't remember what it was) when he was with us. So maybe......it could be coached out of him, but from what i've seen so far, and also going back to watch him riding for Oxford on YT everything everyone is saying is on the mark, gates and flies off into the distance, or misses it and then just can't/won't/or unable to mix it when the chance arises2 points

Kings Lynn need to take him out of the firing line as well. His confidence is shot. He needs to get riding back in the 3rd division to build up his confidence in my opinion.2 points

That was a good meeting on what may have been a difficult track but full credit to both teams and that is what speedway is about, well done to both sets of riders.2 points

100% correct. Jack Smith outscored the Glasgow's two reserves and Boughen on his own. they will be found out big time away from home!2 points

I don't even think tonight is as obvious as what other meetings have been!2 points

Boughen is very frustrating to watch. Again goes ridiculously wide in heat one. repeatedly moving at the starts and shutting off as soon as anyone come underneath him. someone needs to advise him. I know Bomber is his mentor but what works for bomber won’t perhaps work for Ashton.2 points

Then I personally think it was a howler to not resign Vinnie. He will never be a world beater but he had a fantastic rapport with the Poole has and that is something never going to happen with Starkey, even if he scores more points. The fans want a rider who shows his heart on his sleeve and gives his all with a sprinkling of personality. Vinnie had that in spades. I think Danny thought snr’s behaviour could tarnish the images of the club, and that wasn’t acceptable.2 points

I think a lot of the chasing pack go missing at crunch time which is the difference. As someone previously said, BZ seems to step it up a few levels when it matters whilst the others dont on a consistent basis.2 points

I still think Zmarzlik would win, but the last time they were in, Laguta beat him!!!! He's not had the chance to defend his title. No one is going to tell me that having Laguta & Emil in the GPs in place of Kvech & Huckenbeck would not be a good thing for everyone except the 2 omitted riders.2 points

I watched the Edinburgh meeting on BSN and thought Cookie said slicker and more consistent.2 points

I agree, laguta is a brilliant rider and very fast but I’ve seen laguta when the track doesn’t suit him, you don’t see that in zmarzlik, there is plenty of riders who beat zmarzlik but those riders then go missing in the next round, even on his bad days zmarzlik never goes missing2 points
-
Think he said consistent, Jamie likes to dawdle along in the tractor, like most on here I fear another short season with plenty free Saturday nights2 points
-
Its hard to see anyone stopping Zmarzlik in the next 3/4 years. He could well go on to be a 10x world champion. as good a rider as Laguta is, I don't see him getting anywhere near Zmarzlik in the GPs now.2 points

First trip over to Workington yesterday and wow what a great set up that is, including some great weather A decent meeting and a good day out Congrats to the Comets on the win2 points

Agree, I think we’re going to have 1 less home meeting this year as the Border Trophy wasn’t on the calendar. I’d be very surprised if we got 40pts at Redcar next Friday. Anyone else think the track is far too slick? Other than the first couple of bends, the racing is so boring.2 points

Nice to see vinnie foord having a good score for worky this afternoon, just shows what riding on a good track does 😛2 points

Imo a good thing, should encourage or make it easier for new clubs to get started or former clubs to comeback and not have to pay loan fees to the sports fat cats.2 points

For the first time ever, I have zero interest in this year's GP's. The lineup is same old same old, and weak, and the new scoring system is absolutely ridiculous. They have turned it into a clown show...2 points

It's a total sham at bham this season! Hume can't hold on for 4 Laps! Sorry Danyon, but it's true he has more falls than an American winter! Bham will crumble and scar the history of my beloved childhood!1 point

I do dislike having to pay to watch the juniors race, when I don’t particularly want to. 2 meetings in a day is enough for me, the 3rd is a stretch too far in afraid. Hopefully should be a decent meeting with having 2 capable teams racing1 point

A win is a win, but I’m not overly convinced. Positives are Dale Wood who is a definite upgrade on Freddie Hodder. I like his tenacity. Kemp is the top guy, no doubt and I’m presently surprised by Cookie, he looks happier than I’ve seen him for ages. His clashes with Charles Wright were fascinating. I’d love to seen Wright as a Bandit one day. Sam Hagon is a real worry though, especially the way Jake Mulford passed him wish ease on the back straight. He’s nowhere near the rider we saw come up with Poole last season. Another gripe is the track. Used to seeing riders go high and wide on bends three and four and swoop down the home straight, but there seems to be little help there at all.1 point

Because starting in 2025 its most 3,2,1,0 then it’s fastest time by the rider on the night so head to head isn’t taken into consideration.1 point

Agree to disagree on this. I'm saying we may have to grade riders to ensure an even spread of talent with clubs. Yes of course we want to best talent for us to be entertained but the imbalance at present is no way good for the sport today or moving forward. Yes historically there has always been weak teams but exposed even more now with the limited number of teams in the top flight. Great to be hammering an opponent each week until no opponent to hammer..lol1 point
