Totally agree and I just wish that the wider public could see the sport is this light with split second decisions on powerful machines with no brakes. It takes skill and not many sports can match it. Today in Poland you have seen riders crash at high speed and get up and back on the bike in the rerun. Either they are mad or calculated risk takers, whichever, I appreciate the effort and you can ask for no more.

I think you might have your work cut out there! If Becker isn’t fit to take his place tomorrow, it is possible that Danny King could guest for the Lions (think they might go with R/R though). If King did guest, you would have to tell your mates that King and Brennan actually ride for the same team (Ipswich) but neither of them are riding for their own team and will be riding against each other😂. If that doesn’t put them off and they want to attend further meetings, you should become a promoter!

Think Bartosz played it safe and got off,don’t think he would have complained if he had been excluded. There was some brilliant moves by class riders in that meeting.Bartosz is a class above though.

Very different league that season though, several bigger names ride over here now.

Ridiculous that Riss and Mulford are missing this match,to ride in Germany on Monday!!I stopped going to speedway last year after 50 years,came back this year,tried to give it another shot, what’s the point? No meetings for 2/3 weeks, then when there is half the team missing.The sport is a joke.

They need to fill him up with water during the afternoon then.... To be fair, comparing anything UK Speedway presents against what Poland delivers is not a fair comparison... I switched off last night, like I usually do most UK meetings, around heat five or six.. After watching weekends of Polish Speedway and the GP's, and the level of intensity these meetings are raced at, plus the crowd engagement in the events, it is difficult to summon up the same level of enthusiasm when watching on a Monday evening.. Even more so when you see opposition managers and riders stood alongside each other watching the generally poor racing, laughing and joking together in the pits...

Maybe that is right but the GPs do not have the best riders in the world competing, they have a random selection of a nations best riders brought together under the banner of a world title competition. It possibly needs to go back to a qualifying system with the top points scorers from the qualifiers meeting in a semi final and then a final. That way you could have as many nations as you like taking part but the cream of the best riders would appear on the top stage. I am sure many on here and those in charge could come up with a formula and bring some life back into what should be a prestigious finale and spread the meetings across Europe and beyond. It just takes a little imagination.

i'd agree with that. Before the season started, i though we might get 4th. It will probably be 5th now. If we can up our game in the 2nd half of the season, and Leicester wobble, you never know.

Riders who win races and just go back to the pits really annoys me too, It is this aloofness towards fans that pay their wages that gets my gander up . Like you say where is the passion and appreciation of the fanbase. A lot have multiple clubs and are just interested in making as much money as they can while they can, least that's how it comes across. Not many give much back, wish they were all like Bomber .

Why is Brennan in for Holder? I've been trying to convince some football loving people at work to come along and watch. I now hope they don't want to come because I'm damned if I can give them a plausible explanation that wont make them lose interest immediately.

Agree re lack of interaction by any race winners, not just the Pirates on Friday. Rick Astley's first hit wasn't until 1987 but the point is still valid. It was an 80s playlist after 6pm but at least there was no Bert Kampfaert, Dean Martin or the dire 'We're the Glasgow Tigers'...

How unfair, the guy does his best with the cards he is dealt, he was merely the bringer of bad news on this occasion. How about you give up all of your spare time to see if you can do a better job and see if you can handle the unwarranted criticism

So far our crowd levels have been much improved on last season,hopefully this continues but as you well know speedway fans are a very fickle bunch.

I think one of the issues is that there is a percentage of supporters who aren't really bothered about the quality of the action as long as their team wins. Ive been to loads of meetings over 35 years where I've been bored by the complete lack of any entertainment, yet others around me are raving about what they've seen. Also, there seems to be a perception that close meetings automatically mean it's an exciting match, but that isn't always the case. One of the most exciting matches I've seen was Wolves beating Poole about 64 - 26 in our double winning season, yet the action was brilliant because Poole were jumping out of the start and our riders were rounding them up.

Yes I feel for the fans it's not nice but unfortunately does happen as the Plymouth fans found out last year when they travelled to Redcar only for it to be called off just before start time.

Michael Jepsen Jensen is in the Adelsberg qualifier and MJJ has been really hot, both last season and so far this season. He's currently second in the Polish average list, only 0.2 behind Bartoz.

3 riders in run-off 1, winner to run-off 4. 2 riders in run-off 2, winner to run-off 4. Run-off 3 is those who didn't win 1 or 2. And run-off 4 (winner of 1, winner of 2 and top two from 3) decides who goes through. First 3 are all to eliminate just 1 rider. The 4th one is key!

I saw him regularly, riding as a reliable second string for the 1963 New Cross Provincial League team. I loved his armchair style.

We are definitely not clear favourites. There is no clear favourite this year - it looks quite even overall. We need to stop with the whole Glasgow/Poole will/should win everything nonsense. It's much more competitive than that.

I can't think of much, if anything, that has improved since WBD took over. 'Made for TV' sums it up well.

To be fair I enjoyed it on Tv also - sadly it did look sparsely attended. There was some passing and the scoreline was always close so it kept the interest going.

I don’t think anyone was suckered in. Starting is an essential part of Speedway as we know and so much concentration goes in to watching that little release trigger to get away the quickest. Any slight movement anywhere would cause a rider to drop the clutch. I don’t believe anyone deliberately moves to get another rider excluded either. As I said, so much concentration goes in to watching the tapes that you’re bound to get the jitters from time to time and drop the clutch too early.
