Better tracks....apart from BV the Prem doesn't have an awful lot. Champ has Glasgow, Worky, Scunny, Redcar which are all very good.6 points

They say that lightning doesn't strike twice in the the same place. It did at Leicester. As a Sheffield supporter i have to take my hat off to the lions. They took us apart twice in two weeks. But I have to make some observations, not complaints, on what I have seen in the last week. I had never been to Leicester before last week and I must say that I think that it is a gaters track, having said that, having said that to say that there was no passing is not true it is just that it is done in the 30yards comming out of bend 2. Every time the Sheffield riders were in point scoring positions they were passed with some amasing acelerations from the home riders. This must be down to engine set up. I have been around the sport long enough to know that youu can build an engine that will fly on a specific track. I think that that is what the Lions riders have done. The other thing that I noted was the fact that it seemed impossible to ride the wide line. I think that 95% of the racing was done on the inside 30% of the track. This must be down to the track shape and the camber of the corners. Unfortunately this does not lend itself to producing spectical. I must admit the we are spoiled at Sheffield with riders scrapeing the fence every week but it does get exiting. This is not a moan about getting beaten just a few observations. The riders are professionals and shoulld be able to make adjustments to get the best out their equipment. As for them being too friendly, theirs is a very small community and they see each other week in and week out. Add to that there are some very strong friendships away from the track. All that I and everyone else asks is that the gloves come off as they go to the tapes. Having confidence in your fellow riders is an important part of the sport. Once again well done Leicester on two great demolition jobs.4 points

Not trying to upset everyone here on the forum but I wouldn't say this is the main fan base for speedway, it’s just a voice for a few fans, half the people on here pick and choose meetings and aren’t loyal ‘every week go to support your home club’ fan. FYI I go to every home match at foxhall and try to go to what I can away again… people can decide to go to what they want, this isn’t a dig at anyone, just got to take everyone’s comments on here with a pinch of salt and don’t think this is the same view of the mass people who go to meetings.4 points

Even if the new signing decides he is Australian & not British, Edinburgh are still doing more for British riders development than any club who didn't enter the NL/NT. Plus last year they held a NDL series individual when they didn't have to.4 points

He lives in Poland, is married to a Polish girl and only wants to do two leagues so no surprise he doesn't ride here. Nicholls and Bewley have also ducked the UK in the past, maybe it says more about British Speedway than the riders themselves.3 points

In the 60,s and 70,s there was a far more competetive edge to league meetings but there wasnt the situation where riders were team mates one night and opponents the next, i think that has taken away the intensity there used to be.3 points

Offered much better money to ride in a better league in Poland which everyone would take (and if you say you wouldn't you're lying)...felt that track prep in the UK was poor and dangerous (which at some tracks it was) so no longer wanted to ride here...but it was his responsibility to stay and try and save British speedway?! Utterly ridiculous. The Tai bashing by some is so tiresome. Any excuse. It's just boring now. The guy is the most successful rider this country has produced, he has only ever wanted to see British speedway flourish, and our current status as reigning SON champions is down to him wanting things changed from the top down with Team GB. He instigated that. He championed it. Where we are now is due to him. So I'd say personally he has done the complete opposite of not helping British speedway. He has gone on record as saying he would love to further help the sport in this country, the guy is an asset that, if used by the BSPL, would help revolutionise British speedway. But the suits would rather plod along as we are, staring at the abyss...2 points

The other side of that argument is that he could be missing out on additional revenue from fans who don’t want to/can’t attend, if he’s broadcasting the stream..2 points

You must have missed the 500 million IPL viewers turning away from cricket because opposition players sometimes have a laugh with each other. Darts rapidly increasing in popularity? Fake news. Nobody's interested because the players are too friendly during matches. And as for PL football. A sharp decrease in interest because of all the hugging before and after matches, discussions on the pitch, subs from opposition sides having conversations whilst warming up, managers sharing a joke etc. Or maybe they just take no notice because it happens everywhere.2 points

You often see F1 drivers mixing, especially on the drivers parade truck2 points

I find that the case at the tracks as well. Generally a bunch of miserable old sods 😜2 points

Even it's heyday riders mixed with other. In Gps riders watch races together etc .in Poland over the weekend riders were mixing together.. its always been the same.2 points

Can someone tell Rew that its a bit early to start lowering your average for next season !?2 points

Wind up!!😀 I think most clubs are 'sounding out' riders for next season - without being certain of what the league structure and points limit are going to be!! Failing to plan is planning to fail, as they say......2 points

Both TNT and BSN seem to be showing poor match ups at present and totally wasting their time at tracks like Birmingham, Leicester and Kings Lynn where the tracks are not known to provide decent racing.2 points

After the pressure on them in Poland at the weekend's, every week, during the season, it must be light relief to turn up at UK Speedway venues and "enjoy" their evening's racing... Racing with a lot less riding on the result, with, for most riders, zero chance of getting replaced regardless of performances.. (In fact, sometimes the worse you do can actually help you get a job the season after!).. It does all seem very "matey" though doesn't it? Which isn't a good look if you want the viewers to believe they are watching top level professional sport that has some jeapordy, and consequence for winning and losing.. Let's hope the GP's deliver some proper sporting drama and excitement to help showcase the sport...2 points

You are concentrating so much that literally anything can trigger you flinching, whenever I was gate 2 or 3 I would always look forward at the tapes rather than across the guy off 1 or 4, it’s strange but even if you off 1 looking at the magnet and someone off 2 jumps it can still make you jump, you can’t see them as you looking other way but it’s like you can sense a movement, that moment between green light and tapes going up is so intense2 points

No, but their performance does affect what they get paid. To be fair to the Tigers riders and manager, they were very honest in their interviews in the pits and made no excuses for what was going on. How many times in this forum do posters go on about gate and go, riders spaced out, no passing etc, all pointing at the track preparation/design/shape etc. Just in case some people haven’t realised, the ability to make good starts away from the tapes is the most important requirement in a riders skill set. It always has been and always will be at all levels of the sport. Riders have to take that on board and do whatever is necessary in terms of practice and set ups. As professional sportsman, riders will take earnings from points over entertaining every time. As much as we all love Bomber, he’d definitely take more consistently trapping over picking his way through from the back. Regardless of the track, believe it or not, it’s the same for all riders. The better riders will always prosper due to their ability and mindset.1 point

Thank you for the thought Ian. I keep it in mind. However, if it does cost another month it will still come to just over £12 per meeting. I don't mind that, if BV staff prepare the track there should be 2 nights of cracking racing, Malilla is usually good racing too, can't remember what Gorzow is usually like.1 point

Excellent video here from 'Karlito' on YouTube released this evening. I'd suggest everyone gives it a watch.1 point

Without a decent level of statistics to confirm or deny that is a bold claim. What could easier be argued is that the level of competition within Polish matches is closer and therefore the likelihood of contact occurring is higher1 point

OK so i get everyones views that they dont mind riders mixing and having a laugh with their rivals,so when the racing isnt that good how do we make it a bit more cutting edge with a bit of spice to the meeting. The only rider in this meeting to show any zest for wanting to mix it with rivals was Josh Pickering who was busting a gut at least having a go.How do we get everyone busting a gut if its all toooooooooooo friendly?1 point

Every match would just be at Belle Vue. Any meeting anywhere else isn't worth screening. I cancelled TNT after the football Champions League semi's. I've no interest in live Speedway on TV right now. The Premiership & SGP's have been nothing short of horrific, can't justify the £30 each month. Even saying my first sentence, I just feel the Belle Vue SGP double header becoming a farce, just have that feeling.1 point

Cant believe riders are having a laugh together..never seen that before.. wait a minute it happened in a Polish match at weekend. Honest the stuff people put on here to try to put boot in..1 point

And the "big crowds" were largely driven by being able to watch the superstars, on one of only three channels racing in top level individual meetings or the World Cup... Nowadays there is a myriad of "entertainment" things to do which didn't happen back then, and also a huge amount of day to day living costs which, again, simply didn't exist 40+ years ago, which means today's disposable income is far more stretched... "Mickey Mouse" rules in a professional sport could be got away with in the days of no 24/7 information and instant communication.. Losing 100 punters a year was affordable in crowds of 5,000, however, it started happening year on year and nothing was done to listen to those fans as they walked as to the reasons why... The operating model simply just doesn't stand up to modern day scrutiny and has created "lazy" practices.. Not enough riders? Then simply run with less riders per team... How many per team? It depends on how many riders you have and how many "spare" you envisage you need.. Instead we have "let's plan this fixture in for this date, even though we know both sides will have key riders missing, as we can simply have a "guestfest".. The outcome being? Social Media spends the days leading up to the meeting ridiculing it, and, post meeting, those same promoters who planned it in, will scratch their heads trying to work out why the crowd level wasn't good.. It's 2025, not 1975, and, as with any business, (especially one that is struggling), you simply cannot run with the same operating model you used 50 years ago and say "Well, it worked then, so why not now?"..1 point

Firstly, I was not referring to any of your posts, it’s was the one which was claiming it will never happen. I have never said a return is imminent, just that maybe closer than we have been what with everything but a long way from imminent I’m not party to anything specific but I know things are going as well as they can at this stage, as has been detailed in press releases from the group and interviews which are in the public domain not least on the NBNF podcast with Jeff Davies. I know first hand what it is like to lose a club, I’m a Bradford fan so you don’t need to tell me about super domes and roofs. Even more frustrating is they have a shale track down and still no speedway but that’s another story. Should anyone wish to hear the interview with Jeff Davies it is in this episode here, it’s a few weeks old but nothing has happened in the meantime to make this update any different or less positive at this stage. https://pod.fo/e/2c96c6 So whilst not getting anyone’s hopes up but the to say it will never happen is equally wide of the mark. Let’s see, this is not just a petition, people are working to try and make this happen and they deserve our support. Many have supported it, we’ve spoken about it on BSN to help drive the campaign for public backing, and the support has been excellent. We all hope it has a good outcome, anybody can say it won’t. One of us will be right 😂🤷🏼♂️1 point
